Fantastic place to come to escape, wander among natures beauty and bounty.The isolated and beautifully crafted areas allow you to pass between worlds and fantastic points of reflection.Recommendation - pick just a few areas and see these to enjoy - seeing it all in one day could become overwhelming and exhausting - but if you are up to the task GO FOR IT !Wonderful place!!!

Must visit, kids will love it as much as the adults. Go now while its still free. Although I completely support the idea of charging a small fee, its such an amazing well designed, developed series of gardens. So much work has gone in to make this place a wonderful experience. Will go back every chance I get to go to Hamilton.

Great place to drop by if passing by Hamilton. Could spend the whole day here going round all the different gardens. Lots still under construction so will be interesting once it’s all completed, will be enormous!!

Nice place to spend time with family and friends. Also great place for kids to enjoy. Minimum 3-4hrs is required to cover the whole place. Its huge but beautiful. Best time to visit would be summer/spring, then the view would be breathtaking and the flowers would be blooming. But I visited winter but still it was very beautiful. I totally recommend it.

A great place to visit in all different seasons. Theres always things that you notice the next time and the gardens are always changing. Looking forward to going back in spring to see the various blooms in the gardens

Great way to spend the afternoon, with numerous themed gardens to check out, making for a very entertaining and exciting journey. Definitely would recommend the Italian Renaissance garden, Indian Char Bagh Garden and the Surrealist garden.Also free entry!!

Oh wow! This place is amazing. Even 4yr old was happily distracted while we got lost looking for the playground. The themed gardens were the highlight. But even the playground was amazing to walk through. (with a secret garden to explore)We come from the Garden City, and felt the Hamilton Gardens are so much better!

We were there for about two hours. Well return another time for a day, and even then well want to go again. There are fifty-three hectares of wonder, too much to see in such a short time.Today we lingered first in the small but exquisite Japanese Gardens. One is a classic arrangement of rock and pebble. The other is a complete contrast, water and trees. They settle the mind, drawing one into contemplation.Next, the Chinese Garden. This is larger, drawing one through changing vistas and levels. The whole is never visible, you travel through the twisting paths, over bridges, into green cathedrals, past cloud-pruned vegetation.Then, the Surreal Garden. What a trip! Get in and have your sense of proportion challenged, and your sense of humour tickled. Youll come out grinning.We didnt linger long enough in the Katherine Mansfield and Tropical gardens to do them justice, and completely missed the others. No matter. Hamilton Gardens leaves you enthralled and wanting more. There can be no higher praise than that.Go there. Really.

How cool is this place?! Amazing. A bit of culture, nature and fun. Clean and perfectly easy to “walk around”. The information building is good ... you can buy souvenirs. There is a small waterfall around the lake and also a coffee shop. I loved it and I highly recommend.

The best garden Ive seen in NZ. The enclosed gardens are amazing. So many rooms with different garden types. I could lose myself for hours in there.

Great place to spend a few hours and really, you could spend the best part of a day here. Theyve made a lot of effort with the gardens, which are amazing. Theres also good parking, plenty of space for a picnic and a good cafe.

My favourite garden in New Zealand. There are still some part that still on construction. I don’t think I will get tired of visiting Hamilton Gardens once in every season it just has natural beauty.

Spectacular garden designs. The only let down, as expected, was the modern American layout....This is an absolute must-do if you are in the area. Allow yourself about an hour and a half to gently walk through each and every garden and take time to take in the beauty.

The gardens are absolutely amazing! I really loved the compartmentalised design steming from a central feature. It was a great place to come with the kids where they could run around, get their energy out and enjoy the beauty of nature. The gardens are pram friendly and are a perfect place to take the kids even when its overcast.

Stunning experience and gardens. Be prepared to spend the whole day there.Theres also a pretty awesome cafe to get you through the day.

These gardens are amazing and so many different cultural one to see as you may notice it is scooter (which You can Hire) and wheelchair friendly. Allow yourself a couple of hours and even take a picnic if you want. just loved it

The Hamilton Gardens are a place that you have to visit while in Hamilton. The gardens are well maintained and almost made you feel as if you were in another city or country. It’s good to have information about gardens under construction and what has newly been opened. Excellent day out, will be back.

Could spend the whole day here. So many different gardens to explore and a perfect place for the kids to run around. Really enjoyed the playground and the cafe as well.

Have visited here for several times, still as good as I remembered.Took some pictures of those newly opened theme gardens, amazing!Saw the signage saying there will be more new ones to come in near future. Im very looking forward to seeing them again.This is one of the must see tourist spots between Auckland and Hamilton.

Showed a friend around Hamilton and I think this was the only thing he was very impressed with; the gardens.The areas are split up into segments with their own themes. The Japanese garden of contemplation was my favourite, I wish I had a rake to play with the sand but I dont think thats allowed. They also had a kinky pine tree or something.I recommend reading the signs they tell a very interesting story every where you go.Highly recommend it and please resist from pushing the instagram.

What an amazing place. I went with my 10 and 12 year old sons and we were all blown away. They loved the enclosed gardens - so so cool. And the café is lovely too. Cant wait to go back.

Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, many of the flowers, trees etc arent flowering in Winter, so the gardens were at their full potential. Still a great place to visit despite the season.

Beautifully maintained with lots of individually themed mini gardens that flow from one to another. Very clever. Varied enough for all the family.

Great experience, well worth the visit from Auckland

This visit was an absolute delight and the gardens at their very best - new gardens are totally amazing and a functioning steam punk air blimp - that would look great in the Dr Grordbort universe - WOW! We were gob smacked at the beauty of the gardens and unique displays. Hamilton turned on the weather to boot. These gardens should be on the to do list for all - visitors and locals and do your city proud. Loved it 100! - triple AAA+++ rating.

Around the Corner we didnt expect such a lovely well looked after flower paradise. Amazing flowers, a lot of different themes. All together just Brilliant 😍

A Well Managed and Groomed area with something for everyone Young and Old a few new gardens add to the attraction and extra new ones in the process of being developed .. All in All a nice day out for Family and Friends , or/and Young and Old Loves

What an amazing place to go:) Perfect to walk and take a look at all the beautiful gardens including the sustainability concept garden. There are some hens as well in the sustainability garden where children can get interested in. Beautiful fruit and vegetable garden. Hamilton garden has added new sections over time and a new bike track is also being constructed between Hamilton and Cambridge - Te Awa River ride! The cafe in the garden is fantastic with freshly made food. Awesome!

Wow! We knew this place was going to be gorgeous but it really was amazing. Each themed garden was so fun to walk through the entrance to be revealed. A definite unique NZ experience. The kids playground was fun and whimsical too.

Beautiful place with many different areas. Super entertaining to see all the themed gardens. Entrance is free, bathrooms are clean and parking was easy even on a busy day. Would definitely come back and recommend.

Best garden so far that I have been to in New Zealand.

Visited Rose garden, very beautiful with large range of roses in bloom. This is a definite visit in mid spring when so many beautiful colours are bursting out! Well worth a visit for a stroll or picnic. Parking and public toilets plus an excellent play ground close by. Grass is softer and paths not the best wheelchair accessible situation, something to keep in mind ;)

Well maintained and free (optional donation), the best Gardens in the waikato and theyre always coming up with new areas.

Second time i go there, i am surprised of how well mantained this gardens are, no rubbish, everything clean and tidy, and so many gardens to visit, definitely a must visit, even if its just a stop by while going from or to other places!

Really beautiful and well kept. The Italian garden was my favorite. Some areas where youd expect something fanciful and bright was kind if a let down, the Japanese gardenespecially, since Ive been to an actual one its doesnt compare, the surreal garden could use a little something extra too (but by no means bad!). Keeping in mind it could also be different the time of year you visit. I definitely want to go back in spring.

I’ve been several times, and always come back. The gardens are very pretty and well maintained. Very enjoyable and lovely place to visit with friends and family. There are some gardens that are under development. I look forward to coming back to see those gardens

Been here a few times. Some nice beautiful rare plants, the only thing is that the paradise section were made be bit too simple(maybe because of the season?) and some plants region were put into wrong place(doesnt really matter though lol). Overall it was a pleasant place to visit when there arent too many people :)

Its so convenient as you drive into Hamilton. The gardens cater for every type of gardener and lover of gorgeous colourful flowers, trees and shrubs. The cafe has a good selection of food to stay longer at the gardens.

Absolutely amazing well worth a vist

This place is outstanding! If you can go mid week then less people... however even at busy time still absorbs a lot of people. Take a picnic. Food purchased on site is excellent but expensive.

We absolutely 💯 love the gardens!They were out in full bloom today which made them so beautiful. A map is available for $2 at the information shop and a colourfull childrens sheet (free) to fill in as you go around...it is a great way to look at everything and learn with the children.

We loved the Italian Garden!!!! And the reflection pool in the Japanese Garden.Great Cafe by the lake too with a fabulous tree on the bank in full Autumn colour!

Definitely worth a visit on a glorious summer day, or any day. We didnt stay long, but the 2 hours spent wandering around were amazing and inspirational. Lots of ideas for the vege garden when I get home.

Amazing gardens and free entry. This is a good place to stop on a road trip or if you want to see somwhere new with the kids.

Love this place. The new gardens are really cool, but I always come back to the Chinese Scholars Garden.Can also do orienteering in the non-enclosed gardens! Free map online if you google it

This beautiful garden is super clean and fresh. I have a lot of fun, walk around all areas in silence alone and just allow birds to sing their songs as a background. So peaceful and wonderful.I fall in love and happy to get lost in this wonderful garden❤️

Beautiful gardens, very creative, felt like I was overseas!! Camellia gardens are very serene and we sat there for a while taking it all in, enclosed gardens can be quite busy!

A fabulous garden suitable for all ages. They have 2 mobility scooters for those less mobile enabling older folks etc to see as much as possible.

Get there early and enjoy exceptional grounds.....this is really such an asset for Hamilton, both the enclosed gardens and the larger park. Hats of to the Council and volunteers who suport this great facility. Long term benefit for the community.

Loved it 😍. Its one of the best themed botanical gardens I have visited. I visited with my parents and they loved it. It was a relaxing and an amazing experience. Its got many cultural gardens, italian gardens, indian gardens, its got a rose garden, tulip garden, indoor flower and plant garden, succulent garden. Its a wonderful place to visit with your family and with friends. Toilet facilities available. You can have a picnic and has so many huge lovely trees and picnic areas. Ample parking available. Its also free to visit. There are souvenir stores and you can purchase something for memory. I recommend you visit if you are around hamilton.
