Chowallur Shiva Temple is one of the 108 Parasurama Shiva Kshetrams in Kerala.According to Hindu mythology, Lord Parasurama, the sixth avatar of Maha Vishnu created the land in Kerala by reclaiming from the ocean using his axe for to atone for the killing of King Kartavirya Arjuna and other Kshatriyas. He built 108 Siva Temples- 105 temples in Kerala state, 2 temples in Karnataka and 1 in Kanyakumari,Tamil Nadu.He also installed 108 Durga idols in Kerala(Bhagavathy Kshetrams) . He also installed Dharma Shastha in 108 places. Chowalloor Sivakshethram - History of the temple- Lord Siva, the deity of Thrissur Sree Vadakunnatha Temple is said to have manifested Himself on an umberella carried by one of His beloved devotees, a pious old Namboothiri from Chowalloor Mazhavannoor Mana (lllam of Namboothiri), who used to walk all the way to Thrissur to have daily darshan of the Lord. When His devotee became too old to walk and worship Him regularly, the Lord is said to have accompanied him to his native home in Chowalloor. Later a temple was constructed at the very place where the Lord appeared to His devotee and started regular pooja (Nithya Pooja). The temple has several idols - a rare phenomenon (Lord Siva, Sree Parvathy, Sree Ganesh, Sree Subrahmanian (Murukan), Sree Ayyappa and Sree Anjaneya) which is not seen else where in Kerala, (if not in too many Temples in Kerala). In the TWO TIERED round Sreekovil or Sanctum Sanctorum, the Swayambhoo idol of Lord Siva is seen facing west and that of His consort Sree Parvathy facing east affectionately showering blessings in all directions. The Sapthamathrukkal, precious black stone idols symbolising the seven divine Mothers are also worshipped in the Temple in the form of Bimbas made of Krishnasila, yet another rare phenomenon. Must have darshan of this ancient temple.

Kandanassery Grama Panchayath is a 1000 year old temple located in Chowalloor village near the temple town of Guruvayur in Thrissur district. Chowalloor Shiva Temple. It is located about 3 km away from the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Swamy Temple. The specialty of this temple is the presence of Lord Shiva in the temples of Kerala. The main idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are dedicated to Lord Krishna in the vicinity of the temple. It is one of the 108 Shiva temples that are believed to have been founded by Parasurama. [1] The temple is administered by a trust selected by the devotees. The temple is in the middle of the Chowalloor village. The vision of the temple is to the west. The tranquility and serene atmosphere of the village can be seen on all four sides of the temple. On the west side there are many houses on either side of the road. Once they are over, you will see a tree. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma rests on the top of a sacred tree, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva in the middle. That is, the arena is considered to be a tripartite form. It is considered advisable to take the waistline every morning. The parking area is on the north side of the arena. To the south you can see a small Krishna temple. It is known as the Thiruvambadi Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna who stands on both its hands and the calico and the reed. The vision is to the east. Walking a little further away from the front waist, you can see another waist. There are some granite steps nearby. They can reach the temple wall. The Chowalloor temple is a wall of land of about four acres. A large elephant wall has been built around it. No towers have been erected in the temple. In the western walk, there is an elephant tomb and a railing. Elephants are relatively small. Its relatively new. Since there is no flag festival in the temple, there is no flag. The main altar of the altar is about ten feet high. Therefore, the Shiva Linga cannot be seen from the outside. There is a shrine of Subrahmanyaswamy in the north-west facing east. Subramanya shrine was built here in 2001 as part of the renovation work of the temple. The temple is dedicated to Balasubramanya with two hands. To the north of the temple is a huge forest. There are many trees growing there. The Navagraha Temple has been built in the northeast corner of the temple wall. The temple was built in 2011. The idols of the Navagrahas, which appear in different directions on a single stone, are constructed in a contemplative manner. It is dedicated to the Sun in the center, Venus in the east, Moon in the southeast, Mars in the south, Rahu in the south, Saturn in the west, Ketu in the north, Jupiter in the north, Mercury in the northeast. The Sun, Mercury, Venus, East, Moon, Saturn, West, Mars, Rahu, Ketu, South, Mercury, Jupiter and North are dedicated to the vision. To the east of the temple is a good height for the wall. The whole part of this is raised by a brick. If you take a few steps down from here, you can reach the temple pond. Its a pretty big pond. The temple administration has been doing this very well. Beyond the pond are whole fields. Farming is still practiced here. Inside the wall is the Hanuman Temple on the southeast. It was built in 2011 too. Devotees visiting the temple are attracted to the presence of Hanuman, a Saivamsa jatha and Sri Rama Dasa. On the southwest side, you can see the idol of Lord Shiva. This brother is from Vadakkunnath Temple. It is one of only two temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in Kerala. Just a short distance from here, there is a serpent like the temple. The serpent-clad Vasuki sits as the king of the Naga.
