Great to be back to some semblance of normality and see a play. Stewards at door to theatre assiduously insist that everyone wears a mask, only for a lot of people to take them off whilst actually watching. Its a lovely theatre and has some great stuff on.

Went to the ballet with my teen daughter. I love nights out at the Yvonne Arnaud and missed it so much during lockdown, so it was just amazing to be back at the theatre! They handled it brilliantly, ghe audience was nicely spaced out, not too close, but not so far apart it seemed lonely, the atmosphere was wonderful, and they made us so welcome. You could see just how joyful and happy they were about opening back up and performing again! Wonderful evening.

The auditorium itself is pleasant and large, the seats are comfortable and there is next to no rubbish left from previous shows, showing that the staff do a good job of maintaining the theatre. From most seats there is a great view of the stage, and even though it is quite a compact theatre, the atmosphere is still great. The cafe has lovely views of the riverside and is a beautiful place to sit and eat. However, the food and drink are very expensive, meaning that if you need a drink, Id advise bringing your own because the prices are definitely not worth it. Even something as simple as a packet of crisps is very expensive.

Every year for as long as I can remember barring one incident during the Guildford floods Ive attended a Christmas Eve pantomine. The Yvonne Arnaud has been a family favourite for such a long time and I cant imagine Christmas without it. The pantomine has a stellar cast of regulars and it really shows with the fantastic chemistry and comedy you find on stage. My personal favourite is of course Yvonne Arnauds take on the the 12 days of Christmas which even now as 22 year old has me nearly wetting myself with laughter. Keep on doing the good work Yvonne Arnaud I look forward to your next Pantomine well be there on Christmas Eve 2019 just waiting for the tickets to go on sale 😊

Took the family to the panto, had a wonderful time! The theatre staff were helpful and friendly, the theatre clean and nice bar and shop with snacks at the interval, even little cakes with the panto characters on! Big car park right next door. Found a space even though busy and just before Christmas. Fantastic, will go again.

Great venue, really intimate and cosy. There’s a nice coffee shop for treats just past the foyer, the theatre restaurant also serves lovely food with nice views of the river. Dick Whittington was hilarious this year, I went with three generations of my family and we all had a fantastic time! Parking is tricky during the Christmas period as there is no onsite parking only the local multi storeys etc. so arrive early!

An
Review №47

Reasonable amount of leg room in the standard seats, and good views of the stage. Sound quality before and during the show was very good. Once you have been here once I guess you know to go upstairs to get to the auditorium, but I couldnt actually see any signs that said that - perhaps I was just being a bit dense! Everything else was clearly indicated, and the front of house services were good.

Great theatre which we always enjoy going to. Today we saw The Lady Vanishes, a great adaptation of Hitchcocks film. We sat in the circle today which was a bit tight on legroom, and the ladies loos on that floor were an issue during the interval as two out of three cubicles were out of order. Next time well book in the stalls. Apart from that was a great visit!

I have lived in and around Guildford for most of my life so the Yvonne Arnaud theatre - affectionately known by some as the Yvonne Gumby after the Monty Python Chekhov sketch - is something of an institution to me. Putting my natural affection for the place to one side, it really is a lovely little provincial theatre. It wont win awards for its interior decor but its certainly not short on style or comfort. Sight lines are great in all parts of the auditorium and acoustics as good as any other venue of its size. There are decent bars and a cafe on site, plus a restaurant. Otherwise there is a wide choice of eateries, bars and cafes in the nearby town centre. Would particularly recommend The Keep in Castle Street for a post theatre drink.

I went to this theatre to see the performance of Cinderella the pantomime. It was a very good theatre with many seats and quite a big stage. There was a cafe that served food and ice cream for the interval which was very nice. Also the seats in the theatre were very nice and overall was very good. I recommend coming here!

I have been going to this theatre for many years. I am now a Friend and a Guardian Angel of the theatre. It is a small theatre located next to the River Wey in Guildford, Surrey. The standard of plays is very high, and a lot of plays come straight from the West End. There is a good restaurant there, plus a cafe, both overlooking the river, and several bars. It has a very friendly atmosphere, an excellent Box Office, and, being small, there really isnt a bad seat in the house, even in the Dress Circle. I cant recommend the theatre more highly. Give it a go - you wont be disappointed!

Myself and a friend took our daughters to see Six.... We were blown away..... A modern, fantastic insight in to the 6 wives of Henry the 8th... I cannot recommend it enough.... Amazing dancing, singing hilarious too.... I want to go again....Theatre was lovely but being just under 6ft the leg room in the circle was way too tight, my knees were in the lady in fronts back, so l sat with my legs over to one side... Which was a bit uncomfy..... Other than that, drinks reasonable..... Highly recommended Six..... Go....
