Very good place visit early morning so you can enjoy the nature and feel the climate as well , or visit after 4:00 PM so u can enjoy the place..After climate is literally hotYou can see the church here which is inside the watersBut its really good to see you can take both of your bike and car inside the corners of the dam.One of the best places of outer Hassan district.

A quiet place to spend your time as there is a lot of space to walk around.The dam looks better when most of the gates are open.

Dam has 6gates. When we visited the dam the water level was more than the dam can handle hence the gates were not open. However a small flow of water was seen through gates. Public are not allowed to climb and walk on the dam near gates and pathway made. However one can visit close to the gates where when opened one can view mesmerizing show of water flowing out from the gates. Parking space is limited. Vehicles are not allowed inside the main gate (maybe covid effect). We have to walk around 1-1.3Kms to reach the dam. There are officials everywhere and people visiting this place (so called educated) do such illiterate works like eating and throwing plastics and wastes around. Officials are required to check and put fines for those individuals who does that. I witnessed the same and ask the person to pick-up. And it was female (no discrimination, bias but what I saw) and the male with her didnt bother about it until it was noticed and questioned. We are the one who should keep our surroundings clean. Its EVERYONE responsibility

A dam has been constructed across Hemavati River, an important tributary of the Kaveri. The dam is located at Gorur, near Hassan in Karnataka. Built in 1979, the reservoir has been providing water for drinking and irrigation purposes for the people of Hassan district. Hemavati Dam is very vast and covers a catchment area of 2,810 sq. km. This dam is 4,692 m long and 58.5 m high. The gross storage capacity of this dam is 1,050.63 mcm. The reservoir has six large radial spillway gates.Hemavati dam presents a beautiful look to the visitors, especially during rainy season, when the spillway gates are opened to release the flooding waters that gush out like froth. A garden covered with a green lawn right next to the dam enhances the beauty of the atmosphere as well as the location. The garden is often visited by local people. A visit to the dam in the early hours of the morning is highly gracious, pleasant and inspiring. Various water birds keep flying and diving into the waters. The temples of Sri Paravasudeva and Sri Yoganarasimha are very close to the dam and are popular tourist destinations. The best time to visit Hemavati reservoir is the period between October and March.

Such a Damn Dam it is.. well maintained.. enjoyed playing when water splash out of the Dam when it is full..

You are not allowed to climb up to view the entire reservoir. This is due to a few suicide incidents, you will need permission from the police in the officers complex which is 1 km before the damn, in gorur village.

No entry fees but you have to park your vehicle at the entrance gate.

Its a big dam located near Hassan with huge green Park and huge trees one will get feeling of being close to the nature,once one enter in to the dam premises one will get that chilled air with best odour unlike city pollution,and roads are scientifically built unlike other roads so one can expect neat curvy roads with green lush throughout the way.itll be majestic to watch when dam is open.
