Ages back, when the village of Saligao was far more innocent, this was the place many a villager went to for a tea-time snack. It was, and is, run by Ashok and Chandu (the brothers-in-law of Padmanath, who ran the nearby stores). Just that they was then much younger.This is a modest restaurant. It serves tea, and maybe one or two other snacks (the bhajjis and bhaji, two different items, one are a type of pakodas, the other a Goan curry-with-bread, if you go at the right time).But Ill still give it an (inexplicable?) four-star rating, because of its friendly, neighbourly spirit. When Louis (a local villager we grew up with) returned home from Australia, this is where he decided to stop and have a snack not too long ago!Incidentally, the building in which this modest restaurant is located was once better known as Charas Building. Apparently the Birmingham Gang of local tourists would pack their overland buses with drugs in the 1970s, till they were busted by the local cops, who found this a bonanza in more ways than one....
