This place has to be seen to be believed. We had a pint in the bar, then went to the Play a Pie and a Pint which was brilliant. We went back that night to see Dane Baptistes stand up comedy show. All it was excellent. My only wish was that the selection of beer was as good in the venue area as in the bar where they had a lovely pint called Oran Mor dark. I would recommend based on that and the awesome building alone.
My first proper gig since March 2020, The venue is lovely, and Thea Gilmore was fabulous. Her first tour as a solo artist, playing guitar and piano, with great use of a loop pedal. The venue was well laid out and there were no restricted views. Covid QR code on entry, hand sanitiser available, and not over crowded.Drinks prices were reasonable with a wide selection of drinks.
Had dinner and drinks there. Haggis, neeps n tatties - delicious😋 lovely place, would highly recommend and the botanical gardens are right across the road, beautiful and a lovely relaxing wander around kibble palace. Love Glasgow, my city ❤❤
First time inside after passing many many times. Went to see Rose as part of the Play, a pie and a pint deal. Scotch Pie, brown sauce - whats not to like. The play itself was absolutely crackin a must see for any footie fan! Heading back in December to see the Panto - Oh Yes We Are!!
Really cool place (I mean its in an old church) with really good food and friendly staff. My portion was slightly smaller than Id have expected but others in my group got huge portions so your mileage may vary but it was all really tasty good food
Great bar, lovely decor, beautiful building. Good selection of beers, great selection of whisky. Food menu has plenty of choice, traditional Scottish upmarket pub grub. Chose the fish chips, wasnt disappointed, but have had better. Great portion size would happily order again. Knocking a star off for putting salt on the onion rings. Who puts salt on onion rings - a light sprinkling of parmesan or maybe some herbs, but not salt. Also, there was far too much salt. Lost the flavour of the batter and the onion.
I love this establishment, soooo much to enjoy from the venue, upstairs where my sister got married, the bistro for intimate or family dinners, or a play and a pint at lunch time. On this occasion, out kilt shopping with my friend we ended the afternoon surrounded by Great characters to chat too, and Glasgows theatrical and artistic history displayed on the walls. The gantry is complete, whatever you desire and a brilliant beer garden for fresh air chat. Its always on my list for friends visiting the city. Service is friendly but unintrusive, bar staff charming and facilities faultlessly clean.
Lovely food excellent service thoroughly enjoyed it. Ross was very attentive as where other staff, definitely recommend.
Just saw Blancmange downstairs. Cozy wee venue. Great pa. Plenty bar staff 👍
Saw Play, Pie and Pint for first time. Thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely be bwvk.
Musics fans will love this wee place very intimate venue great for close ups of your favourite musicians and the bar offer a really good selection of lagers and beers to fulfill your night
We booked the brasserie for lunch for my mother in laws birthday through the website earlier in the week as it was a nicer menu than the standard menu in the bar.The booking was accepted for lunch. We were running slightly late as traffic was bad, and were only advised when we got there that the brasserie did not open until 5 pm & that we would need to eat in the bar, so at such short notice we had no choice in the matter, as most places will only accept bookings.Due to this late notice we ended up with the bar food menu & not the menu we had originally booked so we were extremely disappointed. Why does the booking for this particular part of the venue let you book tables for lunch if they do not open until 5 pm & why did know one contact us to let us know.Pretty poor customer service, I expect better from a place like this.
Friendly staff. The selection of the drink is very good. Order food but a little bit slow.
I had dinner at the restaurant which had a lovely and intimate setting. I also had a chance to glimpse into the beer hall which is very atmospheric and highly recommended for a few pints with friends. Food at restaurant is decent and every ingredient was perfectly cooked. But compared to similar priced Scottish restaurants which I had been, the flavour of dishes are quite 1 dimensional and not as complex. Overall still a good place for dinner.
Their fish soup is delicious, pints are reas priced, and their whisky selection is impressive
Brilliant thanks to all the staff had a great time at wedding on Sunday
Waited an hour for food that arrived cold at a ‘fine dining’ brasserie. No apology from the staff and nothing to remedy the situation. We were looking forward to a warm meal at the end of the day but received four cold meals and a skeleton service. A true tragedy for Glaswegian cuisine.
We were so disappointed with this place, considering it was in the West End. We chose it over everything else because of the reviews etc. The food looked lovely on the reviews. The Oran Mor burger was what the reviews said to have, so I did. The menu description says you can have the chips with certain sauces including blue cheese. When the meal turned up it was displayed on a thin wooden skillet and a small pot of chips. There was a tiny amount of blue cheese on top of the chips, when you really expected a lot more, especially for the price of the burger. So the waiter kindly took the chips back to put some more cheese on. The wooden skillet it was sat in was too small to eat from, so I asked the waitress for a plate to eat from instead. She quickly came back but with a small side plate. I explained that I expected a dinner plate. Whilst I was waiting for the plate, the other waiter finally came back with the chips. The chips had been sprinkled with tiny crumb pieces of blue cheese. I looked at him puzzled and said I thought it was meant to be a blue cheese sauce. He then informed me that this is how they do it i.e. they sprinkle blue cheese on the hot chips and it melts. So what I ended up with, was the same chips plus an extra sprinkling of cold blue cheese bits (straight from the fridge) that didnt melt because the chips were now at this point, only just warm. What made it even more laughable was the waitress returned 30 seconds later with a dinner plate that was cold, to which she looked confused and then offered to get it warmed up. I told her not to bother because my dinner will be cold by the time youve returned. What I dont understand is that for a place that claims to be a little more upper class dining; the chef sprinkles cold blue cheese onto hot warm chips instead of actually making a a blue cheese sauce and the waiter service thinks its okay to produce a cold dinner plate rather than a hot plate. Mind boggling! I had virtually the same burger etc at MacSorleys two nights previous and it was lovely. Go there instead. Great atmosphere and a lovely pub.
Unusual pub in converted church. Selection of beers mostly light ales or ipa. Darker beers needed more exploration but ran out of time
I love this bar. Its my favourite in all of Glasgow. It has a wide range of whisky and beer and its a beautiful place to waste a few hours chatting away.
Great venue for a gig and great bar staff.
Lovely food, friendly staff & beautiful building
Travelled down from Aberdeen with my wife, daughter travelled over from Edinburgh. Paid £30 per ticket in anticipation of a swan lake ballet experience. What we actually got was one hour of a string quartet(reasonable) and two kids who I can only assume have recently taken up ballet trying hard but not having the strength or skill to fully carry it off. After paying £90 for 1 hour for 3 people Id say it was around £10 per person (£30 value max). This was a complete rip off and the price for 80 people in the room totalling £2,400 cannot be justified. The lady who shouted out I wont be back, I paid for an orchestra and a ballet, not tap dancing is absolutely right. Oran Mor, hang your robbing head in shame.
Beautiful pub in an old church. Bar service was good even though they were very busy. Felt slightly intimidated by bouncers on the door. Ideally we would have booked in advance.
Food was tasty, service was amazing, had a great time all and all thanks to my lovely company and the amazing service of Phoebe (and the occasional waiting/bar staff clearing the table) ^^
Play was fantastic, some signage on entering the place so as folk knew where to queue without being shouted at would be helpful.
Awesome. Great food and drinks. Friendly service. Great whisky menu
Nice intimate venue for gigs, very cool old church conversion, quite good bar prices for west end Glasgow
Loved it - perfect blend of old Glasgow with the more modern. Nice food. Good Drink. The interior is just as lovely as the exterior.
Great pub and atmosphere, very friendly staff and people only disappointment was pints were flat
What a great venue, went to see The Magic Numbers, what a fantastic night we all had
A really casual late bar.
First time here, will definitely be back, really great staff, lovely food and fab atmosphere
First time.! lovely atmosphere. nice lunch. friendly bar staff ! and a few thespians !
Good as always. Nice to be able to enjoy the terrace and feel safe with measures in place. Glad to see that prices remain the same as before the pandemic
Lovely place good food and service
Beautiful place, excellent service, and helpful staff. I highly recommend this place. Passion fruit Martini is a must . Happy wife happy life.
Excellent night. First gig after Corona. But Guinness was off both downstairs and up
Popped in for a lunch. Still in time for a lovely full Scottish breakfast. Nice place.
Have visited Oran Mor many times over the years, play pie and pint has made me laugh, cry, and love the music but they have surpassed themselves during this difficult time. I would like to make a special thank you to David in the box office he is efficient courteous and witty too the epitome of the Oran Mor ethos. We are so fortunate to have such a theatre in Glasgow. People make Glasgow but Oran Mor entertains Glasgow People.
Lovely day, comfy seats outside and nice drink to top it off...
We had 2 beautiful meals. Will definately visit again.
Great meal and good sized portions
Its a beautiful building but very average experience. The best bit is the beer garden on a sunny day.
Friendly place was quiet tonight social distancing and safe guards all in place nice to see they are being safe
Ambient great, drinks great, food not so much.
Went for a gig, great staff and service
Went for food which was average, good service though. Then to see Arabella Weir, not my cup of tea.
Family night out everyone had a great time
Fantastic sound. Great night. Fantastic venue, 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Outstanding venue for gigs, was there for the StillMarillion gig, place was bouncing and the sound was really sharp
Lovely place to visit ..sea bass was lovely but veg could have done with a little bit longer in the pot
What a fabulous experience this was - my first Glasgow restaurant...good beers, excellent Mac n Cheese with bacon - massive portionUnfortunately The Skids had cancelled their gig on the floor above so we didnt get the full Òrab Mòr experience - but truth to tell it was worth it just for the food
Classy looking bar service very good quick and efficient, had a few drinks staff were attentive menu looked although we didnt eat
Regular visitor to OM and really enjoy the atmosphere.
What a beautiful setting and a fantastic night at the candlelight event
Everything was great. Atmosphere, food & service. Looking forward to next visit😊.
Very quiet when we were there recently.
Dined in the bistro for dinner and had the £17.95 3 course pre theater dinner that included a glass of wine. Food was impeccable and large portions for the price. We had the soup of the day and duck confit for our first course. For mains I ordered the chicken which I have to say is some of the best chicken I have ever had. Soft and full of flavor. My boyfriend ordered the beef rump meal which he very much enjoyed. We then had the cheese selection and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Amazing meal!
Lovely setting good service disappointed that the cocktails were on draught
Beautiful concert venue and lovely staff and bar
Old church lovely bar and good service
Great beer garden, really nice, friendly staff, large indoor pub for dining inside also. Comes very highly recommended
Good place for a chilled out drink, decent space outside
I really like this place, good food, good selection of drinks. They also do plays downstairs and gigs, totally worth checking the listings. Its accessible to wheelchairs through the bistro entrance, then theres a lift to all floors, but theres not an outside button so you have to get someone to go in to the bar to get them to open it outside bistro hours.
Excellent service. Certainly more than just a pub. Staff just so eager to assist. Thank you.
Its respectful and it dictates discipline .the family of staff very polite .make u feel very welcome.
Great bar, open late
Retained its atmosphere in strange times.Well organised
Great wee pub not sure about the ring round the church i would remove that as a Christian its kinda off putting.
Just in for a drink . Good selection of malts and beers/lagers .Staff friendly and professional .Social distancing etc observed .
Beautiful venue with great food and beers!
The staff were friendly and helpful. Made the night a relaxing, enjoyable experience
I love the fact this place used to be a church. They say in Scotland they have too many churches, and not enough demand, so they have to find things to do with them. And making a church into a pub is about the best thing you can do with it, in my book. The place looks amazing (see the pics) and they have a great selection of whiskys. The staff tries to be friendly, but their knowledge of whisky may not be up to par with some of their competitors (read my other reviews). They finish losing a star because they dont have proper tasting glasses.
Great atmosphere even given the social distancing... Well organised and friendly staff
A great place to meet with friends and have a meal and a drink.
As always, fantastic 👍
Fantastic, out with the Old in with the NewGreat to see such a building used for something more constructive, a pub.We love seeing historic buildings being used for better social gatherings and entertainment. The place is likely, friendly and really social. We love it.RecommendationFully recommended and please convert the rest of these buildings into something more useful.#localguides #gartstribe #glasgow #sociallife
Great outdoor section to help with latest restrictions. Beer good, staff were great.
Food was lovely and gig was good as well xxx
