We’ve been to Ananda several times for special occasions, date nights, and take out. Every time the experience is incredible. In the last year we’ve had both take out and in person dining experiences that were amazing — the staff was attentive and the food was some of the best we’ve ever tasted. This is by far our favorite restaurant in the area and we recommend it to everyone.

Host/Reservation: 2/5 stars. Came here last night (Wed) and had to wait at least 20 mins for our table even with reservations—the host wasn’t really friendly either. The bar area was packed with people—looks like they were waiting for their tables as well. I wanted a table indoor because it was chilly outside but apparently there weren’t enough staff inside, so we had to sit outside.Food: 5/5 stars. The food was delicious!! Very well flavored. Highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Garlic Naan! The Fish Curry was good too.Server/Service: 3/5 stars. Our server took a while to even come greet our table (over 10 mins), then after getting our order, he proceeded to other tables to check on them first, before putting our orders in. We ate half of our meal already before he bothered to come check on us. Before our food dishes came out, another staff came by and randomly started removing our silverware and plates—I asked why and he could barely explain why, so we were left confused. It turned out later, that our food came with new plates filled with rice and creamed spinach—it would have been nice to have had a quick explanation earlier.Ambiance: 4/5 stars. Def a good date spot or group setting. However, outside seating is dark—they have candles spread out but there’s still not enough lighting.

I highly recommend this restaurant to couples or anyone looking for a nice atmosphere and great food. The ambience was relaxing and beautiful. The food was the best Indian food that I have had.

This place is amazing! We live in Richmond and were in town for a concert. We would drive three hours to eat here again. Enjoyed a handful of appetizers, dessert and cocktails. As bourbon lovers we appreciated their selection. We even splurged on some Pappy!

The restaurant is beautiful. I really enjoyed dining in the patio area. The food was flavorful and delicious! The food came out quickly after ordering,, but took a while for a waiter to come and take our order.. The portions were somewhat small.

I was here the week of February 14. Let me start with the ambience, this is a good place if you like privacy. I currently changed my diet, but was still able to eat something- I had the butternut squash soup.My daughter ordered the almond and raisin bread which was of course freshly baked, and we had to reorder it cause my hubby couldnt resist after trying it.However, Id like to mention that the waiters can do a better job in understanding the menu better, I felt it was more of communication though.Overall, Id love to see more vegan options though, but its a place Id return to.

Ananda has been one of our very favorite restaurants for the past 3 years that weve lived in Maryland. Weve celebrated birthdays, date nights, New Years Eve, and most recently, our WEDDING at Ananda! We couldnt be happier with the service, ambiance, and the amazing food! For our wedding, especially, we were looking for a final plan during COVID after many other things had fallen through. I had a last minute idea (9 days prior to the date) to call and see if they could accommodate our small group since we love their terrace. Not only were they willing and able, they were so incredibly accommodating, friendly, and did everything for us! I would 1000% recommend hosting any small party there. The service on the night-of was incredible and their event coordinator, Rachel, was so helpful and fun to work with from the first time that I called right through the event. We are so happy we were able to get married at Ananda and it will forever be one of our favorite spots with so much special meaning to us. Thank you so much for making it the perfect experience...even amidst a global pandemic!

We celebrated a birthday in the private room in the back. To say our experience was incredible would be a huge understatement. Everything was AMAZING! The sea bass was by far one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Service was outstanding. The atmosphere was amazing. I cannot speak highly enough about this establishment. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening! We will be back very soon!

Generally not a fan of Indian food. But this place is great. The ambiance fantastic. The food was flavorful and the presentation was excellent.

Food is Great...Service is Sub-Par. I visited the restaurant as a part of a birthday party. They failed to notify it would be a group bill. They added items to the bill that were not ordered by anyone in the group and then refused to help discern the bill so the that the group could properly pay. I will NEVER frequent this establishment again.

I enjoyed my mothers day dinner. Indian cuisine is my favorite and this restaurant did not disappoint. I enjoyed the fact that for a fine dining establishment they had a highchair to accommodate my 15 month old son. The waitstaff was attentive and for the most part professional.However, with that being said I gave 4 stars for the following reasons:1) if you are going to consider your restaurant fine dining and have a dress code then you should adhere to it. Men and women have on jeans, shorts and tee shirts. I personally go to a fine dining establishment with the expectation of dressing (businesss attire at least. It made me and my family feel overdressed and out of placed.2) It also would make the dining experience a little better if you didnt have to keep repeating your order or repeating questions because your waiter does not understand what you are asking and then seem to be a little perturbed after a while.Overall after driving a hour to get to the restaurant, I feel it was worth it and will definitely come back. Just next time my family and I will be dressed casual so we fit in.

Superb Indian cuisine that goes beyond the usual staples. The curries are rich and have excellent depth of flavor while the seasonal appetizers always delight. Atmosphere and service are excellent, too.

Visited in August: Great location. Cozy, intimate, romantic atmosphere. Very professional and personable staff. Gregory (waiter) was the best waiter, very knowledgeable of menu options and attentive throughout the evening. Great menu, it makes you want to order everything. Great drinks. I will definitely go again.

Amazing food and a good selection of wine to choose from to accompany your meal! The Goa Fish was amazing; super well spiced with a really nicely crisped skin. The Lamb Shanks and Chops were also really good alongside the rice and different side dishes they served. Between the two, Id say the Shanks had a nicer texture with a well seasoned, well balanced taste whole the Chops were super tender and definitely a dark meat lovers paradise (at least, thats what Id use to describe it? Lol). Definitely check it out! Worth your money!

I have been coming to this restaurant for years (and I regret that I dont come more often); the quality of staff, food and facility remain consistently excellent. The interior decoration is exotic, upscale and yet relaxing.Ananda is also a famous for its house made mixed drinks and well known craft brands. My go to meal is the lamb vindaloo. Enjoy!

Our first dining experience was excellent and the ambiance was relaxing. The entrees were well prepared and ample with wonderful seasoning. This has to be one of the best restaurants in Howard County.

Went in had a great dinner days later my charge was up graded. I tipped in cash and called to see why this was done. I was hung up on 3 times. Employee would not give name and when I tried to call again they would not answer. They killed a totally good experience with neglect to a patron. After paying for a meal ($195) and leaving a tip ($30) I should not be subject to theft and horrible service. Never going back. I suggest you check your statements and think about dinning there.

Great food and service. Some of the best Indian food Ive in the DMV area. The food is not very spicy so if that is a must be sure to ask for extra spicy. We tried a variety of dishes and everyone in our group enjoyed the meal. The Spicy Mango cocktail is great as well.

The food and the ambiance was great. I wish the food had a little more heat. The waiter was slow in taking our order I felt like he was catering to his other tables way to long abs then he would get things wrong on our table. Otherwise we had a very nice time.

We did an event here for my small business, From Mat To Table. They were extremely easy to work with and my guests left beaming with happiness and full bellies after the brunch! The food is all FARM FRESH, LOCALLY SOURCED and organic! I would highly recommend Ananda for breakfast, lunch and dinner! 5 Stars.

Ananda’s dishes are mockery of the traditional indian cuisine. As an example, they add ingredients like broccoli and corn into their biriyani, in addition to a lot of raw turmeric, which completely ruins the familiar taste of this Indian delicacy. Their service is equally poor. Top that with very high prices and this restaurant is a total no go for my family now.

Ambiance is wonderful and great. Food is horrible. Overly expensive. Manager is not good!! He walks around looking at everyone’s faces and Dosen’t even come to the table or ask us how the food is or if we enjoyed. Service is super slow. Place is really dark can’t read menu properly. Waitress Gave us a drink and we took one sip and did not like it and she said is there anything I can give you INSTEAD as a replacement, then on the bill she charged us for both drinks. THERE ARE BETTER PLACES!!!

The best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to!! The service was outstanding!! Our waiter was great!! Food was delicious!!! My favorite was Gobinda (Roasted Cauliflower). I’ve never had that before and it was great!!! A huge variety of foods!! I would definitely come back here!!

Great meal, friendly people, beautiful place. I wouldn’t say it is kid-friendly but we brought two, ages 10 and 13, and the staff was very kind to them. Probably best for older kids if at all. The food was delicious!

The food was okay. The service was subpar. We were sat at a table with flies everywhere, they landed on our plates and utensils. Our utensils were put on the bare table. They have a large selection of alcoholic drinks, but they dont offer many non alcoholic drinks. It was an okay restaurant. I wont be going back to this place

So glad I found this place tucked away in Maple Lawn (Fulton Maryland). Great vegan options. Butternut Squash Apple Soup was great as was the Chana Masala and Roti bread

We went to Ananda last night, first time since covid hit. It used to be our frequent dine in place before that. But I was surprised to see how everything has degraded. From the condition of the restaurant to the service and especially the food. We reached there 30 mins prior to our reservation hoping we might get a table soon. Instead of showing us any courtesy, we got disgusting stares from the owner. Unfortunately we took our good friends there who were celebrating a big occasion. But it seems we spoiled their night as well. The ambience was below par, food was horrible..especially the chicken tikka masala. And talk about the price .. they are charging for a fine dine experience but providing nothing!! Might stay away from this place in future!!

This place is awesome. It’s wheelchair accessible. A excellent location for fine dinning. Nice lighting and private dinning with a cozy fire place. The staff are wonderful. I tried their Meat Samosa, Lamb Chops, Vegetable Jalfrezi and their classic freshly baked Naan with garlic during my visit. The meal was loaded with a lot of flavor and the presentation was great. I definitely recommend this place.

Delicious authentic Indian cuisine and courteous staff who were very attentive & knowledgeable of the menu. Even the owner came to the table to greet & welcome us. The restaurant dining decor provided a wonderful ambiance from the interior to exterior very beautiful. Great food and experience.

Great ambience with lovely fireplaces, warm decorations and comfortable seating in a large layout suited for the best of evenings. Great quality food, especially the rotis and parathas were excellent and compare to the best you can get in the world. Excellent attention to detail and great customer service. The only complaint I had was the menu was missing salt lassi!

Service was great. The food was excellent. There were six in out group and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the lamb which was so tender. Will definitely return. Can’t wait for warmer weather for an outdoor table.

We have been to Ananda twice in the last 18 months. Their food is incredible and the service is always top notch. This is easily one of the best restaurants in the area. If you’re looking for somewhere new to go that has a great menu, try this place now. You won’t be disappointed.

Very tasty food - had the meat samosa, lamb korma and halibut tikka - all cooked really well and very flavorful. The restaurant is very cute with both indoor and outdoor seating- lights outside with a fireplace and inside the bar was pretty lively. I adore this restaurant! They provide awesome meals, their menu is rich, The chief cook in that place is a real authority in the kitchen, I enjoy very much tasting all their dishes. The dishes are consistently fresh, the service towards the visitors is helpful. I frequently visit this restaurant and I not even once was discontented. I recommend this place.

The chicken masala was perfectly cooked and I loved the garlic naan.

Ambience of the restaurant is awesome. Service was top notch. Menu at the bar and the restaurant is great. They serve Indian food but it is not authentic but fusion based on the taste. I did not see much presentation nor felt aroma in the food but basic spices. Food taste was on a sweet side.The price was very HIGH for the quantity served, especially on the vegetarian food. (One small squash Samosa for $7, Dhal and Bengan Entrees for $22)

If I eat somewhere and over half the food is not eaten, it means the food was either not fresh or not tasty, in this case it was both.It has very nice ambiance and good place but as far as food goes, it’s trash(sorry). Food must be fresh if not tasty with high end place like this.

This is an excellent high end traditional northern Indian restaurant. They offer most everything you would expect in a restaurant such as this. From samosas, naan, papadum, chaat, to kabobs and dishes of chicken, duck, lamb, goat, seafood, and even beef, saag (spinach), chana (chickpeas), biryani (rice dishes), and dinner plates with selections of the former, there is a wide variety of items to satisfy just about any appetite. Everything we ordered was expertly prepared, fresh and delicious and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. In addition to the food, they have an extensive wine list, beer, and some specialty cocktails with an Indian twist. Try the Cucumber Detox or the Madras Mojito! Both are delicious! There is indoor as well as outdoor seating in a garden-like setting which is great for a date-night. They offer take out as well and are open for lunch and dinner. Will definitely be visiting again!

Best Indian food in the state. Rivals DC’s Rasika easily. Owned by same family as the Ambassador in Baltimore. Classy and upscale. Go here and don’t think twice.

I had never been here before. It is a beautiful restaurant. I went at night and passed the restaurant as there is not adequate signage. The atmosphere is amazing. We sat by the fireplace. It is very darkly lit. The food was great. The service was good. I will definitely be back.

We went last night for my husbands birthday. Perfect for romantic dates. Ambiance and service was good but the food was not as delicious as i was expecting.

Average, non-descript food. The wait staff was average as well. Not what we were expecting. We did enjoy the greens salad with pears. Its a beautiful restaurant. Too bad the food doesnt live up to the prices.

I often come for happy hour quite often and its always great. The manager is always well dressed and welcoming, the food reminds me of my childhood with a modern spin, and service is always great. The bathroom floor was a little sticky but otherwise clean. I will see you soon!

Rip off for mediocre foodAs you can see there website is misleading as they havent updated their prices. Btw, Indian food doesnt even cost as much as its listed on their menu. Its possible this area doesnt have much competition so they are price gouging.I requested 1 order of muttar paneer with 2 naan and what I received was a dual compartment take out with muttar paneer and saag/creamed spinach +rice + the naan. Never again

Wow. What an amazing restaurant! We had a great time. The food was delicious, the ambience on the outdoor patio was very pleasant. Govind was our server and he was lovely. It was the perfect location for celebrating a special occasion with family. Everyone was very safe and respectful of social distancing as well.

How can i describe The Lamb Dhansak when it is so ridiculously delish!!! Every dish is made with fresh ingredients from local farms. I love this place and its food. Great cocktails and great selection of bourbon and wine. Outstanding customer service. Binda, the owner is always around making everyone feel so welcome. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. 🌟 One of my favorite restaurants the area. I definitely recommend Ananda any time every day of the week.

Fantastic Indian food. The Chicken Tika was excellent, as was the Shrimp Adrak. We had a selection of breads and also had soup, all excellent. The patio was partially open, but the fire places were going. I thought it was a fine balance between safety and comfort. Service was top notch. All around fantastic experience. Well definitely be back.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, my husband and I have been doing takeout from Ananda. Last week, we decided to go there in-person for our first time in person this year! Needless to say, we were nervous and hesitant. We had reservations and were taken in as soon as we arrived. We were so pleased to see that the dining room actually had tables and chairs removed in order to abide by the social distancing requirement. But, Ananda went a few steps further - you could have fit 2 car lengths between us and the closest diners. Everyone (employees and patrons) were wearing masks over their mouths AND noses. The owner was constantly walking around and checking and you knew that he was doing everything right! We felt so safe and we will definitely be back! We are so grateful to the owner and employees for running such a great and responsible restaurant!

Awesome service, delicious food, variety of drinks and AMAZING atmosphere with white lights, candles and fireplaces! We did feel it was a little pricey for the portions, but nice for a special occasion or splurge!

Excellent - however, the soup portion was too small for the price. If you like ambiance this is the place. Thought it was a bit weird to hear a jazz band in a restaurant serving Royal Indian Cuisine. The band was a nice touch for my liking! We had a lovely evening!!

We have been enjoying this incredible restaurant since they opened and decided to order carryout dinner for the whole family last night to support them during this lock down and to treat ourselves to a culinary extravaganza. We were not disappointed as usual,and the food woke up our taste buds after weeks of home cooking. The portions were so plentiful that everyone is having their leftovers for lunch today. Please support this wonderful establishment during these uncertain times so they will be there for us when life goes back to normal.

Went last night to try the place before planning our anniversary dinner with our entire family. Ambience and service was decent but food was veryyyy below expectation... food was served cold like it was cooked along with the starters and sat there to be served once we would finish eating the appetizers, taste was ok but there was nothing exceptional as the reviews rate it... Left with turning down the place as it’s was not worth the money and time to eat there again...
