Clean and nice atmosphere with outdoor and indoor dining options. Located ground floor of Southeast Water Building. Ample parking. Quite a few set menu options and wide selections of wine and cocktails. Average serving sizes. Nothing special in their menu. Food tastes average (not the best but not the worst). Their fried chicken was so dry even with sauce (one of the worst Korean chicken we had). Their service is quite annoying and rude… staff will not leave you alone (keeps on flipping or minding our BBQ) despite letting them know were good and don’t need anything. We’re still eating but they asked us if we want takeaway container while subsequently grabbing one of our meal. We were their about 40 mins less 20 mins waiting for food and the time cooking bbq and it wasn’t busy (only 4 tables were occupied). I bet we were not there long enough to push us away. Not coming back and will not recommend to friends and family unless service is upgraded.
Who ever is driving their fully signed card down Frankston Dandenong rd on Saturday 2nd October weaving in and out of traffic is a absolute flog. They cut me off with no indication and definitely need to respect other drivers. I hope there food is better than their driving!!!
Food was plentiful and so good, waitresses cont fault in any way. A really good eating experience. Fried chicken was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended without hesitation
An absolutely delightful restaurant, nicely decorated with amazing customer service.Im always been a fan of Korean and Taiwanese fried chicken. But, Geonbae has taken korean fried chicken to an extra level with the peanuty flavour(battered)(which Ive never tried), just loved it. And top of that the Honey Mastered Sauce which was a great combination. Vegetable pancake was also nice. Next time Ill try their seafood pancake. Its going to be one of our regular restaurant.Price is little bit at the higher end but, can be happily ignoreed when you have such a great service and flavourful fried chicken.
First time here and boy was it good. We sat outside where we got the cool breeze on a hot evening which was amazing. The service was very prompt, warm and friendly. The food simply 10 / 10. Well priced, huge serves and great flavours. Definitely a favourite and were coming back.
Great place. Good location. The food is fresh and tasty the beer is crisp and cold. The set banquet as always is a great way of sampling the menu. Loved the bbq pork belly.Pros: great food, good location and amazing beer.Cons: As a spice lover I enjoyed it however if youre not sure, anything that says spicy is very spicy.
Can highly recommend this place, Geonbae is good value Korean BBQ and the food has so much flavour. There is so much theatre in having your food cooked on the table in front of you. Meat is tender, kimchi is yum and the Korean fried chicken is incredible. Only bad thing is the toilet is shared with other restaurants in a back hallway that is a bit odd. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great night out
Service is great. Food is good and fresh ingredients. However I find it a bit overpriced if you compare it with other restaurants in the same category.Anyway, we enjoyed our food.
The food was excellent here, other than the marinated beef. The boneless fried chicken and vegetable salad were large portions and delicious. And the BBQ unmarinated pork was great with the sauces provided. However, the marinated beef was seriously chewy, to the point where it was difficult to eat it.The customer service was great. Even though our waitress was looking after so many tables she did a great job.If the beef was more tender it would be a 5 star restaurant and experience.
Fried chicken is great. Bit pricey but the food is good. Great service.
Amaxing food. Amazing atmosphere. Will defiently come again
Delicious Korean BBQ and their fried chicken is amazing! The serving sizes are generous too!
Very good food and customer service.Joy served me and my friends. What a lovely girl.We all had a excellent time.
Meat is really good and you get what you pay for, but side dishes are average and not accurately priced for the flavour you get. You cant even order Kimchi on the side?We opted to cook our own meat as we are experienced with Korean BBQs and the staff were constantly walking past and staring at us and how we were cooking, which made us feel really awkward and uncomfortable
First time to Korean BBQ, not sure if it is nice and what a wonderful surprise! The food is very tasty and amazing. I totally enjoyed it !!!
Had a work do here and they told us we had to have a set menu. Food was average in comparison to most other Korean BBQs around town. Bill was very steep in comparison to what we had to eat. Not great, but not rubbish either.
Such beautiful food, So tasty and fresh!!!The staff are so lovely and so helpful.... What a beautiful restaurant. Absolutely loved it! We will definitely be back!
Service and food was amazing. Will return again
Wow wow wow great quality food and the service was outstanding, love the bbq in the middle of the table, first time here tonight and what a place to spend my mums 60th birthday, definitely coming back again.
Pleasing, comfortable atmosphere, but unusual service ... Where parts of the main course are brought out with the entree, such as the sauces and the rice which were to go with mains. These were on the table with the entree, so by the time you get to the mains, the rice is cold. There is lots of meat which you can wrap in lettuce or have with minimal amounts of BBQ vegetables. I felt a bit rushed and pushed out the door by the waiter who was clearing glasses off the table when we hadnt even finished our drinks....we were also not offered any more drinks after dinner!! They were not overly busy so I was a bit confused by this. Tasty sauces, spicy food..but not too hot. Nice but a little overpriced I believe.
Had the 65 p.p set menu. Food is average I would say especially for what you pay for. Entrees were nice. Staff is not very experienced everytime we asked for something they had to go and double check. Overall I feel they are slightly too pricey for what they offer and the quality of the food
We have been here several times of the last few yeats, ever been disappointed, friendly and timely service and great food.
Very nice restaurant would go there again
Australian don’t what’s real Korean food, this restaurant cooking is very bad and unprofessional , if this restaurant in the Carnegie, this restaurant close soon.
The staff is amazing and almost make me feel bad to leave a 3 star review. The food was very underwhelming, pancake tasted like eggs, it was pretty much an omelette. Pork belly was hard and chewie, cheesy chicken had no flavour, the dish tasted like nothing and the fried chicken at the end...well... Thats not Korean, sorry. We had a good night at the restaurant and if you dont know much about Korean food you might find it ok.
Ive been to the pop-up shop in the Mall within Frankston. All I can say is ❤❤❤ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS FOOD❤❤❤
The Asian girl is super rude. She didnt show me the bill and just said $78 and I paid cash. She gave me a change then she didnt even say thank you or whatsoever. Just gave me a change and walked away. I basically had to stand there and grabbed the changes and put them in my wallet and walked out by myself. No farewell no bye no thank you whatsoever.Only 3 tables so obviously they werent busy at all!
The worst customer service.Found out 30min later that our order didnt go through, but the waitress didnt even realise that our order didnt go through until we asked her when our food will be ready and the place wasnt even busy at all. Had to wait for another 25min to get the food and the food wasnt even good.
Great experience. Went here for my birthday with my partner and wow!!! The staff were so friendly and the food was so flavourful, cooked to perfection. Thank you, well be back many more times.
Good quality produce, nice ambience
Never recommended.Marinated beef was bad quality could not even chew,Charged $13 for the worse of $1 vegetable normally comes for free with BBQ menu any Korean restaurant.Staff doesn’t even know how to changed grill. They need general training how to serve Korean style BBQ.Over priced but worst taste of food ever had in Korean restaurant.탕수육(Tang su yuk) was too oily and wet. Meant to be crispy with a sauce worst of experience of our holiday food travel.
Food is fantastic, from the dumplings to the Korean fried chicken. Service is good and friendly. Thoroughly recommend.
Very good. Try one of the banquets!
Google says they close at 11pm. Arrived at 9.20pm and was turned away because they wanted to close up.
We sat in the alfresco area which is usually a bit of a wind tunnel but we were very comfortable in the marque we sat under. The waitress was friendly and attentive, food serves were substantial and flavors authentic. I loved the corn cheese and seafood pancake! Crunchy juicy saucy fried boneless chicken was just as delicious as I expected. Hubba and I werent really into the toppokki, soft rice cakes, but probably just our preference because they also tasted pretty authentic. We over ordered as usual so we could have more variety and took the leftovers home. We had the sweet seed filled pancake for dessert and wished there was more pancake and less strawberry and cream garnish but the matcha ice cream that came with it made up for that.
Unfortunately I really didn’t enjoy the food or experience. The place smelt like pee to me as soon as I walked in, but I’m sure it was just cleaning products it still wasn’t pleasant. We got the $55PP set menu, I didn’t enjoy anything really, except the rice and the somewhat the kimchi pancake. The salad was okay too. The staff seemed super friendly and lovely, though I didn’t really like being called ‘hunny’. I’m really sorry to say that I won’t be going back. :(
Great meal, friendly and attentive staff
Excellent service, great food, no complaints.
Great Food & Good Service all at a Reasonable Price.
Delicious Korean BBQ! Very helpful staff and good value for money.
Amazing food. Not our first time and wont be the last.
Highly recommended the soju tasting board followed by soju cocktails with dinner. Amazing range of Korean foods with some of the best BBQ in Melbourne. I cannot recommend Geonbae enough. A must visit if in frankston!!!!
Good food and service here.
Excellent food, great staff very friendly and helpful in our decision making.Definitely be back
Disappointing service. Went there for a korean bbq, they said fully booked and no bbq table available except for normal kitchen dishes. I waited for an hour for the korean fried chicken and noticed there were at least 8 bbq tables sat empty during that hour, and at the end left with empty stomach as it takes them too long for them to prepare and serve. I shall never return.
Nice food, great service and Good location makes this a must visit.
Great food and the Soju cocktails are nice!
Terrible experience. 8 of us went for dinner, has been told only can order by set, we ordered different prices of the set, but the food served wrong table , our set is included the desserts they forget about it, meal wasn’t enough . It’s expensive but the food is not that good , totally not worth it. Won’t go again.
Lilly was our table chef and hostess, she was FANTASTIC, we were recommended on trying their banquette which we able to try alot of their specialities. Perfect amount!Awesome selection of beers. Id love to get a table outside in January and knock back a few rice wines and fried chicken.Thankyou for an awesome experience
Fantastic food, service and drinks.Definitely coming back another time!
Is it great? Yes! But.. my only problem is the portion size is so small it doesnt matter how much you spend you still leave hungry and end up doing a McDonalds run before you get home. Ive been here twice and each time left hungry. I got a banquet the second time I visited and still very hungry after I left, that was the same with my husband and children. We love Korean and the Korean BBQ experience but we dont love the small portions that get served. If your a big eater than this place is not for you.
Great food and really friendly staff
Meat was a bit overcooked and set menus are rigid. However, service was good and meat was fresh!
This place is a great experience, the Variety Set is a must try!
The cuisine is amazing. Five star service; I just wish theyd offer daily or weekly special. Great once or twice - honestly its great everytime. A change up in the menu every now and then would be nice. I want more seafood options Geonbae...
Absolutely fantastic. Plenty of delicious food and the service as exemplary. Cant wait to go there again. It has a very industrial feel which was different and very well done. Having the BBQ portion of our meal cooked on our table was so different and excellent.
An awesome night, the food was plentiful and delicious. We had the variety platter and the food just kept on coming. I’m a big eater but ended up with a doggy bag. Kudos to our waitperson, the young girl just back from London. Great service and really enjoyed the chit chat. As first timers to Korean bbq nothing was too dumb and thanks for the full on explanationCan’t wait to go back.
Great Korean restaurant! I went there during the weekend and its very quiet. Located on a nice canal, food was delicious (had Korean BBQ) and staff was very attentive. Highly recommend.
Great food and great staff.Started with an excellent explanation of the menu by very attentive staff and went all the way to great food and plenty of it. Definitely returning for another round soon.
Terrible experience. We were a party of 11 and they virtually forgot about us. We left after 2 hours, having not eaten, and walked into the Waterfront restaurant. They agreed to help us out and saved my daughters birthday.
Excellent food, and great customer service!
Great experience and awesome food
Delicious food and friendly staff. Will definitely be back!
Service was a little slow to begin with but always cheerful...then once the food started coming everything was timed perfectly...just as we were finishing one course the next was coming. Really fun vibe, delicious food (maybe not the mac cheese on the starter plate...I dont get it, but I also kinda dont wanna lose it now, its quirky and since Ive never been to Korea, maybe bad mac cheese is a thing)(love the kimchi pancake and that fried chicken tho), great beer selection, delicious rice wines. Get a lift in cos youll wanna beer alongside everything.
Really friendly service and great food. Well definitely come back again.
Great food, great staff! Loving that place and can highly recommend it!
