Also known as the Rani temple, is is famous for being the backdrop of the famous Bollywood song- Jai Jai Shiv Shankar.
Well we were pretty excited to see this temple as our driver announced that it was at this temple that the shooting of the famous Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz song Jai Jai Shiv Shankar was shot way back in the 70s. As we embarked we were obviously pleased with the greenery and the Meadows around. But the staircase leading to the temple were complete broken and we had difficulty in climbing. The temple is currently in tatters and is crying for attention. There is a talk of renovation work going on at the premises. Hoping for a better future of the temple. The temple has the idols of Lord Shiva, Hanumanji and Lord Ganesha.
Very nice temple in peaceful vicinity. Great views all around. Site of famous bollywood Song JJSS

Antiquated occasions, about Rani Temple in Gulmarg, this temple was considered as the regal temple of the kings of Dogra. This temple, likewise eminent as Mohineshwar Shivalaya, is planned so that it tends to be seen from all sides of Gulmarg. The symbols of the Hindu lord of demolition, Shiva, and his partner, Goddess Parvati, are enshrined here. The temple is visited by the fans of Shiva and Parvati through all seasons. The tranquil surroundings of the spot likewise enable guests to ponder in harmony.HISTORY OF RANI TEMPLE IN GULMARGHistory of Rani Temple in Gulmarg is likewise alluded to as Rani Temple, as it was worked by Mohini Bai Sisodia, the spouse of the past leader of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh. Maharaja Hari Singh was the last king of Kashmir, who controlled the district till 1915. She is accepted to have invested some energy at the temple worshipping Lord Shiva. The Shiva Temple, otherwise called the ‘Rani Temple’ and ‘Maharani Temple’ is roosted on a little hillock in the town square of Gulmarg and on account of its vantage point; the Shiva Temple is obvious from all pieces of Gulmarg

Such a scenic place, a must watch, must visit thing for traveller. People were good. It took few hours drive to Gulmarg from Srinagar. And not only the destination but the route was also spectacular. So Serene. Everything there is photogenic. And this small Shiva temple presents a striking picture in a corner of the main meadow in Gulmarg.

Beautiful
Amazing location, feel free & Relax,Pretty excellent Temple good for Prayers..........&........Worship. This only Shiv Temple still in this awesome place, This is a paradise for nature lovers and Photographers such a scenic location Full of green lawns in Summer and white in winter .
The Shiva temple was actually the royal temple of Dogra kings ofJammu and Kashmir. Also known as “Rani Temple” or “Maharani Temple”, this is situated on a small hillock in the centre of Gulmarg. The unique thing about this royal temple is the fact that it can be seen from all the corners of Gulmarg. The Maharani temple also known as Mohineshwar Shivalalaya was built by Mohini Bai Sisodhia, the wife of the erstwhile ruler of Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh (the last king ofKashmir) in 1915. Mohini Bai Sisodhia was the daughter of Maharaja Mohandev of Dharampur. When the last Dogra king was spending his time in Gulmarg in his royal palace, a couple of kilometers from the temple, his queen used to come here to worship Lord Shiva. Infact, she stayed here for months and worshiped Lord Shiva in this temple. The temple remains open everyday from 6am to 9pm. Aarti is performed twice a day for devotees.
Great locationAmazing beautifulOutstanding Flow of people
Holy temple of Lord Shiva right in the centre of Gulmarg valley atop a small hillock . The main shivling is very beautiful. Temple roof is made of walnut wood with nice carving work. Temple can be seen from any part of Gulmarg. It derives its name from Maharani of Jammu and Kashmir who got this temple built.
I have visited this temple many times because this is my favourite one.It is a holy shrine of sanatana dharma but all people of any caste visit there because there is no discrimination of caste, creed and race.
Lovely place for our hindu brothers.. Must Vist for them if you are in Gulmarg..

Aarti is performed twice a day for devotees. We had been to this place in Mar 2008 but still memories are fresh. One of the reason is that Guide had told us that shooting of Rajesh Khanna Famous song Jai jai Shiv Shankar took place at this location. Wooden work of ceiling in dome is superb.
Temple is not in good condition. State govt seems to be not interested in preserving the same. Priest and Pooja activities are not conducted timely because of obvious reasons. Most of the people visit here because of attachment to cinema but they are ill informed about the mis management and exclusion of this temple in heart of gulmarg tourist spot. Very disappointed with the state and local administration approach and negligence towards the hindu minority in Gulmarg.
Its in gulmarg. holy temple of lord shiva having shivling. I came to know that there are two priest here one hindu another muslim though I found only one and he was hindu. The scenic beauty here is awesome. You may see different type of belpatra over here its leaves are different. Nice place to start with.....
The Shiv Mandir looks amazing in the surrounding landscape. There is absolutely nothing great about the temple. Our homestay owner told us that the shooting of the song Jai Jai Shiv Shankar had taken place here. The temple roof has intricate carvings of local Kashimiri architecture that you can see.
Maharani Temple houses a Shiv Lingam & an idol of Goddess ParvatiIt is so called as it was built in 1915, by Queen Mohini Bai Sisodhia, wife of the Maharaja Hari Singh, ruler of Kashmir. This red-rooftop temple can be seen from all corners of the town as it is situated on a small hillock in the heart of Gulmarg town. The popular Jai Jai Shiv Shankar song of the hit film Aap Ki Kasam was shot hereIt is now being looked after by a Kashmiri Muslim, as there was nobody to take care of the temple after the Kashmiri Pandits were driven away from the valley in early 90s
Nice to see shiva in kasmir
An old temple of Shiv in the middle of gulmarg, provides a great peice of beautiful scenery.

This is also called Mata Rani Temple. Famous song of Rajesh khanna - jai jai shiva shankar... Is filmed here. Also promotes the Unity in Diversity of India.... As it is maintained by the local Muslims of Kashmir Valley.
The only temple in such a place :beautiful
Shiv Mandir also known as Rani temple is at a very beautiful location in Gulmarg !!
The Shiva temple was actually the royal temple of Dogra kings ofJammu and Kashmir. Also known as “Rani Temple” or “Maharani Temple”, this is situated on a small hillock in the centre of Gulmarg. The Maharani temple also known as Mohineshwar Shivalalaya was built by Mohini Bai Sisodhia, the wife of the erstwhile ruler of Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh (the last king of Kashmir) in 1915.Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Kanta Lage Naa Kankar, Ke Pyala Tere Naam Ka Piya..Jai Jai Shiv Shankar.... Perhaps not a single old movies buff can forget this beautiful song picturised in the sylvan settings of Kashmir. Though many would still be aware of the fact that the song from yesteryears blockbuster Aap Ki Kasam starring Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz was shot in Gulmarg, there wont be many who would know that the temple outside which the duo swung their hips to the popular number, was actually shot outside the famous historic Shiva Temple which was also the Royal temple of the Dogra kings of Jammu and Kashmir.
