Not sure how should I start. 4 of us went to this place for dinner last night. We were hungry. We ordered 3 dishes, 1 appetizer, and 6 bowls of oil rice...and nothing left when we left. It could be combination of hungry+good foods+small plates. I cant judge clearly for this round, so I will go back another time when I am not as hungry. FYI, we ordered the half chicken (photographed), duck & tofu, shrimp paste string beans, and Indian bread.
The best food on Earth!!!! Roti sanay is the best thing Ive ever had in my life. I wish they were on Long Island as well. I drive 2 hours to get here to enjoy their food. Still its worth it! Love love love how they cook here.

The Crispy Lotus Root appetizer stole the show!So Yummy and Crispy. I cannot wait to try the Roti. Will definitely be back!Friendly service - make sure you bring cash!
We had the roti canai, nasi lemak and beef rendang. Everything was incredibly tasty. I was so enamoured I forgot to take pictures! I have lived in SE Asia so it was nice to eat some of my favorite foods. FYI: they dont have the coconut style laksa, its the sour type. I wish they had coconut kueh tutu desserts, but they did have homemade pineapple tarts. 🤤
I ordered the roti canai and sarang burung. Everything was very good except the shrimp in the sarang canai. The shrimp was very mushy and disgusting, but if I get food poisoning Ill know where I got it from.
Roti was light, crispy and curry dipping sauce was fantastic. My Duck Lo Mee was very tasty and the seafood flat noodles was delightful. Service was great. Minor point. The cooling system was moderate. It would have been perfect if it were cooler.
I went to this restaurant anticipating Malaysian cuisine but found that they mostly had on their menu Chinese and Thai with very few Malaysian options. The food was not that great and I felt it was overpriced. My children ordered some kind of pan fried noodles and didn’t even touch it as it looked so unappealing! The satay and the spring rolls were good. The fried rice we ordered was mediocre.
Delicious. 25 min drive worth it. This restaurant food is consistent always great. Try to come here as often as I can.
Ive been eating at Satay for 20+ years. Their shrimp noodle and Hainanese chicken are the best in Flushing.
Satay has been around since the early 2000s.. Possibly even a few years earlier. Ive dined in and bought take out at least a few hundred times. Im not exaggerating at all. Theres been times where Ive come multiple times in the same week to get take out. The Malaysian dishes here are very good. A favorite of mine and Im sure lots of other people are the Spicy Thai chicken and Hainese Chicken. The roti canai here is one of the best. The bread is always fresh. Do try their other delicious dishes like the Curry Mee noodle soup and Capitan noodles. The service here is so-so as in theyre not very friendly but thats how all Asian restaurants are. The prices are very reasonable and the food comes out fast. I will continue to come here till the end of time!
My family and I have been coming here for more than a decade. My father is from Ipoh and says that this is as close as you can get to Malaysian cuisine without a flight. The waitresses are also Chinese Malaysian and love to chat up my parents. The food is (obviously) better when you dine in and, like every other smaller restaurant in Flushing, make sure you bring cash. Our go-to dishes is the roti canai for appetizers, chicken broth rice, stingray, ung choy, fried squid, and spare ribs. When I had been away for college, I always ate here when I came home to visit.
Very clean and Great tasting food. The service was outstanding!
Nasty food. nothing had flavour. Dined in yesterday, even the tea had no flavour. This is a CASH ONLY restaurant for dine-in, which basically means “We Evade Taxes”. However there is sales tax on the bill. Therefore I asked if they had Certificate of Authority. Without this piece of document issued by NYS Dept of Taxation it is fraudulant to collect sales tax from customers. The woman who apparently is owner pretended that she did not understand what i was asking and told me to speak to my waitresses.
Yummy! Tasty, affordable and fast! My favorite, and a go-to for Malaysian Cuisine in Flushing.
Best malasian food
Food is amazing. The employees are very respectful.
I like cooking style and taste good
Food is absolutely delicious, service is good. Its in a congested place so hard to get parking. Kind of a hole in the wall. Reasonable pricing. Unique menu. Great for take out. But I have sat here and eaten many many times, first when I was dating my husband and now 10 years later when we are in the area. Our favorites are satay chicken and roti telur. We also enjoy a beverage called air Bandon but they didnt have it last time we went.
The food was quite good. The service waa alright.
Best Malaysian in the area, clay pot noodles and curry dishes are awesome and authentic. Tried many other places and this is still the best Malaysian restaurant in the Brooklyn queens area
Its one of the few Malaysian restaurants around. So for that reason I give it 3 stars. I just read a review saying it is under new ownership. But we have been there many times. It is dirty. They are no longer in Malaysia but run this like it is in Malaysia. We had chicken feathers in our chicken. It is dirty and substandard or it was I have not been since the pandemic. But it is one of the few Malaysians around.
Change in ownership. The tasty is not the same as what it used to be. Some dishes were OK, the rests disappointing.Hopefully they can get the old chefs back or at least get the taste right. It was our go to Malaysian, we will try it agian and hope for the best.
My favorite spot for tasty malaysian food. A preferred evening place. Prices that wont break you.
A top scene for tasty malaysian food. visited on a wednesday i think. the place has an awesome atmosphere. feels like a cafe in phoenix that i enjoyed visiting.
Excellent food and good service
We always order take out from here when we are in the area. Get the curry! Cash only
Malaysian cuisine... very delicious food situated between Kissena and Holly Ave. Flushing...
Newly installed outdoor dining room!
Food is ready in 5 min! ( Too fast to make me feel weird ) If you are in a rush and still want to dine in a restaurant, you can come here. I think their taste is not as good as few years back. Ordered a curry noodle, curry taste good but somewhat watery. The sauce on Thai chicken is good.
Great Malaysian restaurant.
Excellent Food. Closest youre going to get without going to Malaysia
Cash only with tax on the bill and ask to tip 20% as you get seated at the table. Food is alright but zero customer service.
I loved the food and the inexpensive price. Its a very casual setting and not a lot of parking, but there is street parking all over that you can find. The Tropical Chicken is amazing and I highly recommend it for its unique flavor and taste. Malay cuisine is kind of a mix of Curries, Chinese Flavors and some Indian throw in for those who arent initiated in it. I highly recommend it though.
Prawn Mee was very flavorful and spicy
One of my favorite places to eat in NYC. Old school feel, simple and no frills. You come here for the food, not the ambience. Seafood scrambled egg Chow Fun is my favorite along with their signature Hainanese chicken, classic Malaysian
Cash only but great food!
This place is awesome. Dont let anyone else tells you otherwise.
Waitresses were making fun of a customer after she left. Calling her stingy and a haggler. Then they said a few curse words... ignoring the young patrons that were within ear shot. Although not indicated, there is a 15% tip requirement. It doesnt matter that the service was bad or that they cursed. All in all I would advise others to stay away. Doesnt seem too family friendly. Highly disappointed.
Great food good service.
Love this place, humorous and respectful staff, especially the lady in the front. Food is authentic and well made, but on the pricy side. Just keep one thing in mind: cash only. Other than that, this place will not disappoint!
Love going to this small Malaysian place. Although the common dish of Hainan chicken is not as flavorful as other places, theyre of great quality - fresh! We particularly like the 4 happiness vegetable dish with eggplant, string beans, sweet peppers & okra in the mild spicy belacan sauce. Other dishes are just as tasty!
My go to spot for Malaysian classics. Their sting ray (asam sauce) is the bomb! Can’t go wrong with Satay! They also serve Lou Sang during Chinese New Year.
I like their yummy &crunchy Roti kenai
Great and fresh hainan chicken
They used to have good food and service, but thats no longer the case. In my last visit, the food tastes bad and service was ok at best, nothing like how it was before. Its either theyve change the chief or he/she gone crazy working there. The coffee and tea mix drink Ive ordered taste sucks as well. The waitresses were a bit rude. They make fun of their customers after they left. Very disappointed as it was one of our favor pla CD e to visit.
One of our favorite restaurant. Easy to find parking and price is reasonable
Good food, reasonable price.
Tasty and plenty...fresh and prices good.
Good food and nice service.
Curry New with Young Tofu is my favorite. The pad Thai is also good. I like their congee also!
Horrible service from this old guy in the front desk. When ordering I asked if I could add mushroom the guy was like $2 for mushroom (the hell! What kind of mushroom do you serve) then as I handed in the money I asked how long will it take? He took a F***ing long ass pause as he handed in my order and replied 15-20mins. I asked kindly if they can be a bit faster since I have a car waiting for me outside. He replied No, you only order one item. So I requested to have the order cancelled and for my money to be given back but he replied the order is being cooked. I told him that the paper is right there hanging on the top but he denied it. I was forced to sit there waiting for my food. The food was too salty when I ate it.
One of the best Malaysian restaurants in the area. The food is very authentic. There are some very unique Malaysian dishes there that dont exist in other places.
Good food, friendly service and reasonable prices.
Loved their curry roti, and their egg beef rice dish. They have shaved ice!
One of the worse place I have ever visited. I dont know what happen to the bold old man in the front. Very disrespectful and he lied right in front of my face. Once the money is on his hand, there is no turning back. Highly NOT recommended.
Delicious Malaysian Food. Their Roti Canai is very well made. The Hainanese chicken is my favorite. Parking is a little bit limited due to them having a small lot. Food is delicious and well made.
One of my favorite malaysian restaurant. Foods are amazing. Parking is limited. Make sure do not park at the supermarket. They dont like it. Staffs are friendly. Restroom are ok.
Have been coming here for years. Food and service consistently good!
Wow amazing menu everything was delicious
I rarely giving any review but today is Dec/24th/18 Christmas eve night. We order a take out order from satay restaurant. We clearly order by phone to the restaurant and the person who taking our order also repeatedly our order.I ask her what is my total cost bc Im paying in cash. She responds Im busy now but Ill call you back in a minute to let you know the total cost. But she didnt call back till the delivery guy arrived and tell us the price is $89.00We pay him $100 cash included $11 is for tips.Once we open the take out bag we find out there is one items we didnt order and right the way we call back to the restaurant.Who so ever pickup the phone and try to said that we did the ordering ask her how come, I wrote down what we going to order for dinner and repeat our order.Bottom line who so ever on the phone not doing or her tune is not what Im expecting as in restaurants business & what supposedly be taking care.We frequently order from them but today will be our LAST TIME ORDER FROM THEM.ZERO START AT CUSTOMERS SERVICE.The pork chop we order is dry and taste less. The bak kut tea meal is also taste less and watery. The pork intestine IS NOT FRESH.GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SERVICE .
Delicious food comfort foods
Food quality went down compare to a year ago. Dunno if they changed chef or something. Menu price also went up quite a bit.
Great Chinese Malaysian food. Authentic food served by nice ladies from ipoh, Malaysia. Try it! Get some roti as an appetizer!
The food here is amazing, not too spicy not too sweet. The servers are professional and its all very affordable.
Now here they have a morning breakfast every day, time is 6 to 10 Am.
Consistent great service and food here year after year.
Nice food delicious
My familys go to place for family gatherings i give it $$, money wise.It is a laid back restaurant setting. I love malay food, tropical chicken, chicken/beef satay, roast pork fried rice, achat, and ice kacang is the way to my heart. I love satay :)
Satay Malaysian Cuisine is one of the best Malaysian restaurants in Flushing. There is limited parking in front. Cash only.
Love the quick service and food is always delicious!
Its okay.
Great food and value, try the anyam reddang instead of regular curry chicken, and get a roti while youre at it!
Doesnt look fancy but its one of my favoirte malay spots
One of the best Malaysian restaurant in Flushing.
Decent variety of dishes with a mix of Malay and Chinese options, not the cleanest place, but good value!
The food typical Malaysia spicy but not all the dishes, we like, so try to go anytime we have the time. The service is fine. Wow last week we went back after few months, we eat hokkien mee and cantonese chow fun was salty, they gave us wood chopsticks, terrible the one they used for takeout. The quality drop, the food was bad. Maybe new cook , well what else can I say.
Good Malaysian food!
