Really beautiful campground. Lots of excellent hiking opportunities. Only A section has power. Theres a shared water spicket every few campsites. Lots of vegetation between sites; good privacy. New fire rings. Bring your cast iron pots along. Great bathrooms; flush toilets and warm water. Close to Sutton lake, the beach and even Freddys for those forgotten supplies. Can happily recommend SUTTON CAMPGROUND for your next camping getaway.
Camp hosts were very helpful. Bathrooms clean. Nice hiking trails attached to campsite. Campsites were spacious but not too much privacy if you are tent camping unless like most people it seemed had their huge trailers or SUV’s blocking their entrance. But it was just me, my tent and small car. But I did get compliments from other campers saying my set up was lovely :)
We found a nice, spacious spot nestled between tall trees. Big enough for a 6-person tent and a 2-person tent (not all sites seemed so spacious). Lots of cheap firewood on Hwy 101, within minutes of the camp. Close enough to town to go grab stuff at Fred Meyer if needed, but far enough away to feel like a nature retreat. Great hike to the coast has a trailhead in the middle of the campground.
This is one of my favorite campgrounds on the Oregon Coast. Beautiful and clean and quiet. I must admit that I like it because the amenities are more sparse, thus young families dont typically frequent it as often...sorry, folks! But I like some peace and quiet and a gentler experience when on the Coast.Bathrooms are always very clean and Ive never once had an issue with other campers at all. The hosts are always very kind and helpful and the location is perfect for reaching Heceta Head Lighthouse and beaches, as well as the quaint town and shops!
Aside from the sites not having water or sewer hookups this was one of the most well kept camp grounds we have ever stayed at. The sites are big and clean. The whole grounds are beautiful with dense forest throughout. There are nice easy hiking trails. All in all this camp ground is wonderful and we will return.
Great camp and host, no noise, very close to town, will be back. Great for camping with tent or rv. 2 big thumbs up!!! Less than 5 miles from town. We like Florence. Come and visit.
Fantastic hosts on the B loop, and fairly private sites. We were welcomed with a smile and sent off with a smile. Jim and Judy are some truly neat people, and the campground was a clean, quiet place to camp. Excellent location!
Quiet and more spacious/private sites than most around the 101. Clean bathrooms too. Camp hosts seem pretty attentive
Very nice Campground! Water is close. Electricity. Bring RV converter cord for regular plugs. Beautiful Rhododendrons, ferns, moss and pines. Path to the beach is over a mile but gorgeous. No shower. No dog park but worth staying there.
Stayed in B13. Large spaces, lots of water faucets, clean restrooms, and very quiet. Will definitely be going back. Dont expect showers because there none. Nevertheless it is a great place and relaxing.
It was our first time at the campground yesterday and let me tell u it was beautiful!.. and very clean sites!.. the hosts was so friendly I felt at home and welcomed going back again soon
Straight harassed the entire time we camped here. Told to be quit before 6pm. Asked if we can stop our kids from having fun. Didnt know camping became a HOA. Thought the point was to have fun. Worst time Ive ever had.
Awesome campground and very family friendly! It was quite at night and had a super nice trail to the beach. That being said it is a few miles long to the sand lol.
Good location nestled in the forest. Facility is not that great especially for tenting except the clean restrooms. Where am I supposed to take a shower, in the ocean? No river or lake nearby to dip in and clean oneself.
Nice Campground heavily shaded for those rare sunbeams that you crave, can not access the beach despite signage claiming differently should say dunes not beach
Awesome spot just outside of Florence, so easy access to shops, grocery, food. Campground was pretty quiet and our tent spot felt secluded. Each has its own firepit. Staff was extremely accomodative
Great site. Some are first come first served and others are reservable. Great hike nearby that leads towards Baker beach and the dunes. Clean bathroom area with running water and drinking water spigot. Beautiful spot in the Siuslaw forest
Very peaceful camping. Just loved it!
Lots of walk in sites with plenty of space. We have a 15x15 tent and have a hard time finding spots to accommodate. You will have no problems here. There are 3 loops to choose from as well as a 4th for groups. Camp hosts were amazing and so nice. We will definitely be back and the only thing missing are showers. Other than that flushing toilets and water are available.
Very nice campground, every spot is unique and private.
Very pretty area, there are trails by the campground, can walk to beach from campground, clean bathrooms
Quiet, large and wooded spaces. Management went out of their way to secure us a spot that would accommodate our tow.
Its a nice place to go camping
We love this place and come every year!
Good times even in the rain. The walking paths are gorgeous with Rhododendrons, ferns, flowers, mushrooms and moss.
Very nice campsite! Wonderful (slightly long) hike to the ocean from the main loop. Restrooms are clean. No rv water hookups in loop A unfortunately.
This was a great place. We were tent camping and our site was large and beautiful. There was a nice trail that we used at night to set up our telescope. The management were extremely friendly and helpful. I recommend it for anyone looking for a calm spot.
We had such a great experience here. Beautiful campground! It was a busy weekend and the campground was full but we ran into the camp hosts Dave and Cindy and told them we were looking for 2 sites and they found us 2 right next to each other! They were great sites b21 and b23, very private and large. We loved this place so much that we didnt want to leave. Dave and Cindy do a great job, they were so sweet going out of their way to help us and all facilities were very clean. This will definitely be a place that we will camp at again soon!
My daughter and I live in the area and my friends and I take regular walks through this campground. It always appears well maintained. We had the opportunity to stay at the park August 14. Cindy and Dave, the camp hosts were courteous and professional. It was a busy Saturday but they helped us find a spot. I like how roomy the sites are. We will definitely return.
Great place but people seem to complain about noise even well before 10 pm curfew.
This is a great campground. Nice and wooded with good trails and some large campsite for bigger campers.
Good campground. Potable water and clean bathrooms (flush toilets) thanks to the great camp hosts. Cell coverage varies with the site you pick. I usually got 1-2 bars (Verizon) & 4G which was enough for my purposes. Several trails to hike including one that takes you to sand dunes. Some sites are reservable, some 1st come 1st served; some have electric hookups, some for tents or dry camping. Most sites are somewhat private due to the vegetation. A few are in the open. 14 day limit.
Sutton Campground has it all! We found the camp hosts Cindy and her husband to be welcoming, totally accommodating and helpful. They do an outstanding job keeping the facilities clean, even over a busy 4th of July weekend. We did not find pet nuisance anywhere as previous reviews seemed to complain about this. The entire and expansive campgrounds was VERY clean and well cared for. This campground has well marked trails offering epic scenery through canopied forests which meander along a creek. We were able to take a dip in the creek and the lake for a refreshing rinse. There is a small dock for fishing and boat launching. There are numerous points along the trails for a quiet rest and to take in the beautiful scenery. Thank you for an amazing camping experience.
It turned out to be a very nice visit W/Jennys Son & his friends, although we didnt spend the night, or actually camp there, the camp was quiet & looked very clean, which is important in my book. Camps seemed to be far enough away from others to give you your space, & enough trees to block most of the wind.Probably would stay there myself a time or two.
My family stayed here for a little over a week. Lots of things to do! The trails were great for hiking. Bathrooms were clean. The hosts were excellent. I really enjoyed talking with them! Would definitely stay here again!
One of the most beautiful campgrounds we’ve ever been to! Great trails and wild life. All of the camp hosts were extremely helpful and they do a tremendous job in keeping the bathrooms and grounds emasculate! We will definitely be coming back!
Love the peace and quiet
Very nice campsite. Half sun, half shade, plenty of room for tent or trailer. Nicely maintained hiking trail and clean bathrooms.
Very quiet place. Clean restrooms. Nice hosts. No beach, but close enough you can drive to.
Clean, great locations that have easy access along with good sight lines of the forest from front to back with a feeling of privacy due to many sites with bushes that funnel into your parking space. If you prefer quiet near beach camping with a good forest windbreak this place is amazing in the off season: please note I am not aware of the busy season crowds. Wind really is not much of an issue until you travel outside of the treeline because you are more exposed to the costal conditions. Firewood is at the camp host site for $5 a bundle, many camp sites have good grass cover, and the bathrooms are very clean. All in all a very good place to visit for some camping variety in a bite sized serving when compared to the huge places nearby. Please give me a thumbs up if my review was helpful to you... enjoy the Oregon coast
Such a beautiful campground with nice walking trails and a stream. Close to the ocean. The hosts were extremely nice and very accommodating. Very clean.
We love this place! Our first time visiting Oregon and Florence over the 4th of July weekend. The campground was kept very clean and the camp hosts were hard working and very hospitable. We were in C Loop, what we considered primitive camping, but bathrooms were kept spotless. Im pretty sure the review below about the experience of group site in C, was the group that was extremely loud and very disruptive to the rest of the campers in the loop. They were not heeding the quiet hours by playing loud music from their site after the 10 pm cut-off. The camp host would not come to your site, unless youre not adhering to the terms of what you agree to when you make a reservation ex: quiet hours.Aside from that, we will be back! No doubt. A must see.
Great park, power only in sites. Lots of trees and bushes between spots. Nice trails and areas to walk.
Great place to camp. Close to everything but far enough away youll feel like youre far away.
Fantastic Camp Ground! Wonderful place to stay. 5 nights was not enough!!! The Camp hosts are absolutely amazing!!! Super friendly and helpful! I’d recommend this place to anyone! We will be back soon!!
Amazing campsite with a great selection of sites, some great trails to walk on, close proximity to the beach. Very family friendly and pet friendly as well!
A MUST stay when visiting the Oregon coast
Stunning campground! Amazing hikes, beautiful trees and dunes. I cant wait to go back.
Nice, strange and unexpectedly heavily wooded campsite. I would go back here for sure.
This place is very family encouraging, very quite. The camp host are absoulatley amaing. Theu are kind loving people. Best place that we have been to in a long time....
I want to say first, that the Group Site (Group Site C) that we reserved was perfect for our family camping trip. We have around 40 people- adults, children and dogs. And this site has been the exact thing our family has been looking for. It was very spacious, a lot of room for the kids to run around, ride bikes, a swimming hole (they played most of the day here). It has a very nice pavilion with electricity, a lot of picnic tables and food prep space. There is a kitchen sink, but it does not drain well. But that can be overlooked for everything else we were getting. Some people in our group had tents, while others brought trailers. I have no issues with the camp site itself. The biggest and most frustrating issue we had was the camp host. On the first night we stayed, a gentleman came around 10:15 and let us know that it was quiet time. We thanked him and he went on his way. Because it was the weekend of the 4th, there were a lot of fireworks going off around us. However, our group did not light off any fireworks due to the policy that was stated that no fireworks were allowed. Sometime after midnight the women camp host came driving into our camp site on the gold cart, she was completely drunk yelling at us, that she was going to call the cops if we continued to let off fireworks. We explained to her that we were not letting them off, and that it was someone else. By the end of that conversation she seemed fine with us and even apologized for coming in like that. The next night, the male camp host came back and once again told us it was quite time, we thanked him, and he moved on. Saturday Night (night of the 4th) at 10 pm, we turned out music way down, and were sitting around the campfire all night. Some people were up late, but not being loud. We had several people in our group that was sleeping and was not bothered by any noise. The women host came back on her gold cart, completely drunk again, yelling about us letting off fireworks. At this point, our group is frustrated, but we let her know again, that we were not letting off any fireworks. She eventually left. The next day, we had a visit from a woman who said she had a complaint from the host, that we were letting off fireworks and that someone in our group physically assaulted her. That never happened. Later in the day, a park ranger and state police officers showed up because the host was filing a complaint with them about the fireworks and that she was physically assaulted. After some back and forth, we agreed that we could finish out our stay if we did not go over to the camp host area (which we never did to begin with). I believe that the camp host was completely out of line on several occasions. One being drunk and coming into our camp site to start arguments. Since was drinking (she was completely drunk, slurring words, could not walk straight) she should not have been the one to come over to address any issues. And she was driving a golf cart, which assume is owned by the Siuslaw National Forest. If she would have ran over a child or anyone because of her recklessness if would have caused a lot of problems for the campground. The other issue is that the park ranger said that the host told them, that she had gotten several complaints from other camp sites that we were being loud, however that was the first time any of us had heard about it. The only issue the host ever brought up was she thought we were lighting off fireworks They also were not cleaning the bathrooms properly or enough. They would come change the garbage and then add water to the dial soup dispenser. At no time did they sweep or mop. Unfortunately, even though the site was perfect for our family, due to the host’s actions we will not ever be returning to this campground. And I will make sure that I tell people about the experience we had.
Beautiful campground! Great campground managers that are welcoming and keep the campground well maintained. Close proximity to great hiking and sights. Would highly recommend.
Beautiful little gem! Very clean and well maintained restrooms with flushing toilets. There are several locations to collect water as well. Several hiking trails that are amazing! An update to this review a few years later. Check out time has changed from 1 to 11. The camp host (female only) was not friendly. She seemed a little uptight when I spoke with her. The bathrooms need deep cleaning done, the stall walls were very dirty. I really loved this spot when we found it in 2019, but things have changed.
This place was amazing. Beautiful trees and forested campground. They have a lot of trails for hiking. There is even a darlingtonia boardwalk. Very nice and friendly campground host. Only 1 LOOP was open. And only half have electric. Not a good place for solar. Did not use bathrooms. No shower. We ended up staying a week.
I would have given 5 except for the fact that the camp host there this last week of January 2020 was the worst.Totally inattentive, rude and illmanered to say the lease. He and his wife are the worst! They also closed and locked the restroom next to us for no apparentReason except to cause us discomfort because nothing was wrong with it. So we had to drive a half mile just to use the restroom! It’s a great and beautiful place but, I will not go back until the host is replaced with a more competent one.
Great quiet campsite off the main road. Very clean. Cindy and Dave the camp hosts went out of their way to help us which was so greatly appreciated. They are true ambassadors for the US Forest service keeping America Great 👍
SUCH a lovely campsite. Cindy and Dave (camp hosts) are very welcoming and accommodating. we definitely recommend you spend a night here.
Packed in like sardines but was nice
Been coming here for seven years now. Used to be a dive, lots of locals making it a dump and theft spot. Place has really cleaned up. The 2016 camp hosts are the best theyve ever had there. They actually do work other than mow the lawn, and they are super friendly. Worth top notch pay, those two. Dogs on leash rules never enforced.Sites were planned out in the old days so getting a larger rig into one can be a challenge. AL&L runs the place and has upped the cost, plus USFS upped it so not sure it is worth the high cost for next to nothing in services. But if you want a nearly empty campground (probably due to cost increases), clean, and beautiful with lots of hiking, this is a great place.Again, price increases are too much for the services. Add electric in more spots and actual dump station and showers, that would be worth it for us.
What an great campground! A beautiful quiet place with great trails. Wildlife abounds. We were even visited by a black bear cub. Momma bear was surely close by, but i didnt see her. I made the rookie mistake of leaving butter out. Truly the most memorable part was the hosts. Jim and Denise are the warmest most welcoming people weve met on our long camping trip up the Pacific coast. My family felt like we were leaving friends behind when we left.
Loved the dunes which were right behind the camp... Nice hiking trails, peaceful, beautiful scenery... Oh and flushing tiolets with a sink for washing hands! Also a plug in the bathroom if you need to charge your phone or blow up a mattress.
Very nice and well run. Hosts in B loop Cindy and Dan are very friendly and awesome.
I actually don’t want to share this one because one of the best things about it is how uncrowded and secluded it is. I’ll let you discover the qualities of this one on your own!
Except for the mosquitoes.. but it wont stop me from coming back
Since we were here in October, just one loop was open. My husband said we got the best sight in the park, from his past experience.Quiet and private.
Beautiful forested campground with privacy between sites. America the Beautiful Senior Pass gets you half off the site. Not really close to the beach to walk, about a mile or so.
Love the group camp in loop A. Weve donr it 3 years in a row. Good place to be in Augest. Water, bathrooms, wind shelter, just a great spot!
Nice park with privacy in spaces. 1/2 price with national park senior lifetime pass $12👍
Nice quiet park. Not packed in tight. If you want sun recommend the inner spots on loop B as most of these back up to clearing.
Great campgrounds; clean.
We got super lucky and got a spot! Maintained well we stayed in Loop B site 12. One downside is my friend took her dog for a walk on the trial next to the spot and got stung by wasps 11 times.. We did tell the camp host who called the forest service who took care of the hive within a few hours!
Great camping site. Super quiet and bathrooms are really clean.
This is a superior campground. Well maintained, and not a ton of rules. Ive stayed her several times, in different spots, and they are all secluded, and beautiful.
Lovely campgrounds, lots of room to cruise in my powerchair. The host was very helpful at every turn, went way beyond the call of duty to be helpful. Very quiet, thoroughly enjoyed it and will return. P.S. No trouble getting the disabled persons discount.
Beautiful with good hiking trails. No showers. Some sites have electricity
Nice campground, but the camp host’s, Dave and Cindy and Ginger too made it a truly magical vacation. Couldn’t ask for kinder more congenial staff.
One of the best ever campgrounds! At least according to Milo☆
Big camping spaces and flush toilets!!
Dark, small pitches, gloomy atmosphere. Dirty restrooms, no showers.
Very beautiful, quiet ,calm atmosphere, I will be coming back here soon
Secluded and the host was friendly. Few trails to cap off an afternoon. Good place for a one night while traveling.
