We have ordered food from here on multiple occasions and it has been great service up until our last order. We tried ordering through Just Eat, but the order was unsuccessful so we decided to do it through the website. We received confirmation it has gone through and had an order number. An hour and a half later there was no sign of our food so we called the restaurant. They told us the order hadn’t shown up on their end but promised to get it cooked and delivered asap.Another hour passed and still no food so we rang again and were told it was on it’s way. Bearing in mind we are only ten minutes drive away we were very hungry and fed up. We asked to speak to the manager but were told we should call back the next day to discuss the matter with them. The order finally arrived just before 10pm which was two and a half hours after we originally ordered it.We felt very let down by the whole experience and just wanted to get to bed.The next day we called up and asked to speak to a manager, we left our number and were told we would get a call back. We are still waiting. All in all, we are very disappointed with the service.

Loved the takeaway, hadn’t ordered here before and it was quite delicious. The dhal was a bit watery and perhaps too much “vagaar” in the form of burnt onions, but wasn’t horrid. Lovely naans and the madras is really delicious and so are all the vegetable side dishes - especially loved the mushroom, yum!

Quick service but h the at is about it. Wish they had taken longer. The food was unpalatable, naans warmed up with hard ghee, tandoori meat so bright red/pink it was unrecognisable, and a prawn ‘korma’ which had so much sauce it was hard to find the frozen prawns in it. Dreadful...maybe holiday staff but I should think holidays are the time to put your best foot forward?

Absolutely superb curry. We tried the tamarind chicken and a Peschwari dish. Both were excellent. In fact, even as a bit of a curry addict, the tamarind chicken really stood out- sweet, spicy and a bit different. I have to say the staff were also excellent- they were very helpful and made it easy for us to eat with our baby (who enjoyed flirting with all the staff). Its also nice that you can bring your own beer or wine in when you dine. Top marks for both food and service, we will be back!

Attitude stank and wouldnt help whatsoever! Just give them your money and they will choose your order for you, delivery it late, not say sorry for being late! Good luck!

Simply pot luck i use it every 7 or 10 days and just when i think shall i risk it again they come up with a good one, honestly mostly good food, but the portions vary so much from nearly empty pots to almost over flowing, light fluffy rice to a congealed blob, onion bhajee from melt in the mouth to, you could hit them with a cricket bat and break the bat cant be any more honest.

Despite using Argee Bhajee many times before I was very disappointed to discover they had forgotten to include our poppadum’s in our last home delivery order (Sat 17th Aug). When we phoned them they refused to refund the £5 because we had no way of proving it.Its not the money. Its the principle. I will simply not tolerate this kind of customer miss-trust and will no longer be using this take away.Yes we should of checked our order on arrival but in classic style we were rushing around putting children to bed.Why not have a more customer focused service? Why not offer to make a note of the error and simply not charge us next time? Now, sadly there wont be a next time for us and Argee Bhajee have lost a regular customer.

We ordered online at 7.55 and got a delivery time of 9pm. Our delivery arrived at 9.30 and was of great disappointment. The Saag paneer was salty, the Korma was watery, the coconut rice taster plain and dry and the nan arrived dry and cold. One of the worst Indians Ive hadSuch a disappointment

Used to be the best Indian in Exeter. But must of changed chefs as had the same meal as usual a few months ago and it was horrible. But I thought it might of been a one off so we tried it again tonight and it was even worse. Chicken was like a leather boot and sauce tasted of fairy up liquid. And it wasnt just my meal either. I have never complained or rated low before but I think this 100% deserves my bad review

Ordered online for a delivery, rang them when it was 20 mins late and was told it driver was on his way. After another 20ish mins rang again & was told they had got the order late and it wouldnt be long. Order arrived an hour late. We live 5 mins away but had it delivered as my child was asleep. Food ok some a little bit cold but dont think putting a cold can of drink in with food helped. Plenty of chicken in the Korma rice a little dry. Would use again but only to eat in or collection.

Well, what can I say about the Argee Bhajee? My partner and I order from here regularly. Not because the food is anything special, as its not, if anything it is decidedly average, the poppadums are always stale, the currys contain very little meat, and the food is overpriced. But, by nature we are beings of habit arent we, and we always tend to order from there simply because we know the menu, the prices and what we are going to get. So, earlier this evening we decided to order an Indian takeaway, did so, our order coming to exactly £15 which is the minimum order for free delivery, and sat back looking forward to the arrival of our food. So, you can imagine our surprise when a few minutes later we got a call from them saying that our order had gone up from £15 to £17. When we asked why they said it was because our house was over 3.5 miles away. Okay, firstly, it is only 2.6 miles away, secondly, in all the times we have ordered from there they have never charged this before, and finally they did not mention this when we first made the order. We explained that we did not have the odd two pounds on us, and that in order to get it we would need to walk to the nearest shop which was ten minutes away, late on a winter evening, in the pouring rain and freezing cold, get a tenner out of the cash machine, buy something that we dont want or need to get the change and come back again. Theyre reply to this was that they needed to pay the driver. Forgive me, but shouldnt the argee bhajee be paying the drivers wages, not the customer? So, we asked to speak to the manager but they told us we couldnt as he was in Bangladesh. Er, okay. So we asked to speak to whoever was in charge and a man came onto the phone. We told him that we did not have the odd two pounds and were not happy about this and had a good mind to leave them a bad review. To our utter incredulity, he laughed down the phone, and mocked and dared us to, saying, oh, youre going to inform social media are you? Go on then love. Well that was the end of that conversation, and hence you are reading this review. We instantly called up one of their competitors just 0.2 miles down the road and made the identical order. It came to £13, arrived much quicker than any order we have ever made from the Argee Bhajee, the curry had double the amount of meat in and the poppadums, of which we ordered 2 and they gave us 8, were fresh and crispy, unlike the aforementioned ones from Argee Bhajee that taste like they have been used as coasters for a week. Safe to say, we will never, ever order from them again. They have lost two regular customers and £15 because they had the audacity to try and squeeze a couple of extra quid out of us. Bravo Arjee Bhajee!

Very poor delivery service, over an hour and twenty minutes past the expected delivery time and no food. Will definetly not use their services again!

Having found via Tastecard Directory our expectations were perhaps low largely due to the name which sort of suggests a dated curry house. Although quite a small restaurant décor was a pleasant surprise, very modern and clean and the staff exceptionally friendly. Things only got better with what I feel was the best curry we have had for years. The cuisine is pleasantly different from the usual and flavours were exceptional and we felt relatively healthy as was no evidence of the clarified butter and oil often seen on food at other Indian restaurants. Portion sizes were decent and the service continued to be A1. Wine and drinks were very very reasonable (£12 for a very presentable housewine)and the only problem is that it is nearly 150 miles from where we live otherwise we would be regulars!! Well done Argee Bhajee. ..... make sure you give it a try.
