This is 12th JYOTIRLINGA in India. Really disappointed even after so much importance of place and history about this place there is no single sign board any where from Aurangabad to this place.Politics and Mandir trust have to take some action on this. There are multiple sign board for other places why no board for Grushneshvar Mandir.

Dream come true12th jyotirlinga
Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, sometimes referred to as the Ghrneshwar or Dhushmeshwar Temple, is one of the shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva that is referenced in the Shiva Purana. The temple is an important pilgrimage site in the Shaiva tradition of Hinduism, which considers it as the last or twelfth Jyotirlinga. This pilgrimage site is located in Ellora less than a kilometer from Ellora Caves – a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is about 30 kilometres north-west of the city of Aurangabad, and about 300 kilometres east-northeast from MumbaiThe temple structure was destroyed by the Delhi Sultanate in 13th and 14th-century. The temple went through several rounds of rebuilding followed by re-destruction during the Mughal-Maratha conflict. It was rebuilt in the current form in the 18th century under the sponsorship of queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore, after the fall of the Mughal Empire. It is presently an important and active pilgrimage site of the Hindus and attracts long lines of devotees daily. Anyone can enter the temple premises and its inner chambers, but to enter the sanctum sanctorum core (garbha-ghrya) of the temple, the local Hindu tradition demands that men must go bare-chested.The Grishneswar temple is an illustration of south Indian temple architectural style and structure. The temple, built of red rocks, is composed of a five-tier shikara. The temple was re-constructed by Maloji Bhosale of Verul, (grandfather of Shivaji) in the 16th century and later again by queen Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century. The Grishneshwar Teample is 12th Jotirlinga in India, according to Puran.(Kedernath, Biswanath, Baidyanath, Mahalakaleshwar, Onkareshwar/Amoleshwar, Somnath, Nageshwar, Grisneshwar, Trimbakeshwar, Bhimashankar, Mallikarjuna, Rameshwaram). This is hardly 30 km from aurangabad and 1 km away from Ellora Caves. Temple is normally croweded in weend ends & Mondays. However, one can find almost empty in late aftrenoon sessions. You can buy all puja items at temple shop. You can do abhishek by yourself, priest is helping, but its your wish. Priest is not money oriented at all. I do appreciate the same. There is open murti, You can very well touch linga & do puja. You can also sit & mediate or read religious books, I wish you feel diffrent with compare to other Jotirlinga temples. We wish you get & have blessing of LOrd Shiva @ Grishneshwar. There is accommodation from temple committe. you can complete both aurangabad tour and ellora cave in same day. and reach Shirdi via Sanisinganpur..provided you have your own car. Jai Baba Bholanath.

Grishneswar is one of 12 Jyothirling in India This temple is very near to Ellora caves. Grishnam means Kumkum in Marathi also the temple is built with red stone with intrinsic sculptures. The Shivling is also in Red Stone. Once for a Brahmin couple who was pious and generous had no issues. The wife arranged second marriage for his husband with her sister. The second wife would daily perform Shiv Pooja in the early morning with a sand made Shivling and would put the Ling in the pond next day. She gave birth to a girl baby. In jealous the first wife thrown the baby in the pond. Next day while in Pooja near the pond the second wife saw her child coming out of the pond. Lord Shiv in Jyothir form came out of the pond and with his Trisul want to kill the first wife but the second wife prayed for mercy for her sister. The pond is just behind the temple.

Loved it!! The architecture of the temple is superb alas the temple isnt attended much and have no holdings or markings as to tell the route to the temple.
A small but surprisingly beautiful and well preserved temple.
This is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga. It’s just 1.5 kms from Ellora caves. If you are visiting, be aware from local shop keepers, they will try to give you unnecessary stuff. Mobiles are not allowed in temple, make sure you put them in car or locker. Photography is not allowed inside temple. Overall a nice place, it’s very peaceful. Management should take care of temple with more responsibilities, as there are no cleanness in the shoe rack.
This Jyotirling is truly Devine, historical and nostalgic. I felt the vibrant presence of Lord Shiva.

Beautiful place... well maintained.
One of the 12 Jyotirlingams. Beautiful temple built by Ahilyabai Holkar.
Grishneshwar temple is one of the shrines dedicated to the Lord Shiva . The temple is an important pilgrimage site in the shaiva tradition of Hinduism , which considers it as the last or twelfth jyotirlinga . This pilgrimage site is located in Ellora , aurangabad , Maharashtra and , less than a kilometre from Ellora caves - UNESCO World Heritage site . Mahashivratri is the main festival celebrated here.
3km Near to Ellora caves Normal temple but 12th Jyotirlinga of lord Shiva. Mostly crowded in shivratri and in month of shravan. Pls remove your footwear, camera and smartphones in your own vehicles because it is restricted in temple area local wenders demand ₹5 money for it for per mobile and per footwear so if you dont have a car just buy flowers ₹20(prices on my visite in Jan 2021 can be higher in main seasons) but dont give more than ₹30 for flowers and offering and ₹30 for coconut. For your footwear and mobile take some offering from any store and leave your footwear there and silent your mobile and keep it in your bags. I believe footwear stand and mobile stand should be provided free of cost in every temple by trust for peoples pan india.
Its a jyotirlinga among 12 jyotirlinga of shiv temple but this introductions is not enough because its a archaeological monument and historical place. This temple was built from Top to Bottom against usual way of bottom to top and secondly there is no joint in this temple because architect didnt uses cement or any metal its whole temple is single one piece of mountain and only carved in the stone thats a expertise of architecture work there was a no point you can make a mistake in carving because there is no chance to get corrections. It worth to see.......
Very unique feelings when going inside this temple
God shivas temple...
Beautifully build temple. Well maintained.
