Prestine low land forest near by and the river are attractions of this place. The forest near by hosts most of the endemic birds and many Mammals. Vanarama is great place to stay and enjoy the local food. I recommend this to all nature lovers .The locations nearby are great for birding.Some of the endemic birds are easy to sight in this park. Sunbirds, mynas, hornbills, thrush, flycatcher and parakeets are plenty .About 15mins drive from Karkala and another 1.5 hours from mangalore. This place is close to karkala township.We visit this place for mainly bird watching. Nature always surprises with some great sighting. The landscape of forest , mountains, rivers are beautiful.The best time to bird is winter. But all season will have some surprises. The best place to look for the endemics of western ghats.The roads are good. Innrainy season they usually go bad and they gst face lift once in winter.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful resort during the last week of November this year. We had arranged a family get together in this resort located at the outskirts of Karkala town in a village setting. We reached the location using google GPS without making any mistake.The rooms are good and the food was to our taste. The hosts were very accommodative and hospitable. Our extended family gathered in the big hall located next to the lodging section. The breakfast, lunch and evening tea were arranged in this hall. Everyone enjoyed the event in this peaceful atmosphere.There is an adjacent smaller building where one can arrange for Pooja, Havan etc.The location is excellent, in the middle of nature, surrounded by Areca plantation and an array of trees and plants. The beautiful Durga waterfall is located just next door where one can spend an evening. We just took a short walk close to the resort, during which we saw variety of birds, including peacocks.The next day morning we left for Mangalore airport in a taxi arranged by the host.I recommend this resort for someone who likes a peaceful atmosphere away from the hustle bustle of city life.

Instead of resorts it can be called as cottage.. the place n nature is superb. Feels like u r inside jungle. Near by river and hydro power project. When i visited the road was under construction, horrible for cars. I had been to founction hall next to resort, so dont know about arrangements of resort. If u fed up with city life n need lonely place u can visit.. i dont think they provide any recreation.
