Meanest Indian food in town. Unlike many more takeaway places Indian spice uses good quality spices, ingredients and recipes to get its flavour instead of heaps of oil. I would recommend Kadhai and Saagwala Chicken. 10$ deals on Monday are so much value. Even if the restaurant is busy Mr Singh will stop and have a conversation about the food and win you over with his attitude.Just a little addonDo add a mango kulfi after your curry. Its the best indian dessert Ive ever had outside India.

Medium spicy curry is even sweeter than a dessert, bad experience. You guys need to know what Indian restaurant spice levels are.

Still I cant believe it. $12.50 for a biriyani and it really fills the tummy. The cheapest, delicious tummy full food that I have ever had in New Zealand. Great value of money. If you are in Dunedin and looking for the cheapest delicious restaurant, I will definitely vouch for it. There are a wide variety of food selections here. Good customer service as well. Must visit fellas!!

Food is fantastic. Have to make a special mention to the lovely lady who has been our waitress both times weve dined in on a super busy Monday night (sorry didnt get her name), she remains cool, calm and collected and so genuinely attentive to making sure her customers are having a great experience👌

I rated this place as 5 star as its one of the decent Indian restaurant here in Dunedin. Ive had bad experience with others (food and/or service)Its one of the places whereby you can get $10 lunch (good selections) which comes with a soft drink, naan and curry. They have $10 money night curries. Best of all they do have student discounts which is an added bonus.

This restaurant was chosen for its convenient location close to our Dunedin accommodation. I have to say that my experience was one of great satisfaction. The waitress was both attentive and friendly. We were offered complimentary onion bhajis which were piping hot and delicious. My friend and I chose the Maharajas banquet. The food was delivered all at once and was served piping hot. The starters including the dipping sauce were delicious and the main courses were authentic and flavoursome also. Great tasting nan bread.!

I ordered chicken biryan on 26th may 2020 and I waited for my food eagerly but once I opened that food I was disappointed as well as the taste is horrible as expected from the appearance of food .I am from South India, Hyderabad and I dont think the biryani that these people making is not at all authentic biryani .Its not even tastes like biryani so if you are from South india and want to eat some biryani ,never order from this restaurant because its just plain rice you will get....

These guys are super chill and sweet. And as a restaurant it really is ahead of competition in terms of value for money. They really really make good curries and at a price Im impressed with. Not compromising quality to make it cheap. Nor size. They even have as low a cork fee for BYO as 2 dollars. I just like this place 👍👍👍

Best Indian food for miles! Had Dahl Makni and a spinach potato dish with complimentary steamed rice acompanied by mango chutney and raita with naan bread, could not fault anything! Traditional Indian music playing, clean basic decor, friendly helpful staff. Will definitely continue to dine out here 😊

Disappointed in the Aloo Gobi and the stuffed Naan bread - the spices were bland and there was a scarcity of cauliflower and potato in the Aloo Gobi, however the veges were tender and not over cooked.

I seldom eat meat or drink wine so this was an exceptional occasion to try something new for me. The lamb did go really nicely with the Merlot which I found was a pleasant red wine, not too sweet.The portion size of the main was very generous at $18 (Jan 2019) with ten large pieces of lamb in a succulent tomato marinade, served with capsicum and onions as well as a little cole slaw and a light creamy dipping sauce with fresh mint in it. The capsicum and onions were really excellent, being just cooked so still very crispy and juicy. It also came with a very large bowl of perfectly done basmati rice.I was very satisfied with my dining experience and will be back to try a curry next time on the ten dollar curry night! There are a large range of curries to choose from including vegetarian (as well as meats like chicken, lamb or beef) , which all look excellent so I may try the vegetarian one!Thank you to all the friendly and hardworking people at Indian Spice for a delicious meal!

Their butter chicken is really good and on Mondays you can get $10 curry which is a great deal! Call ahead of time for pick up because theres usually a line of people waiting during busy hours.

I can’t believe that other reviewers have eaten at the same place I did. I have eaten Indian food all over the world and this was one of the worst. The lamb Madras was some pieces of unidentifiable meat cooked in tomato ketchup with a bit of chillie thrown in, the dahl tasted like it had added Bisto, the onion bhaji was mostly instant bhaji mix with not enough onion and the vegetable samosa should really have called itself a potato samosa. Most alarming of all, we specifically asked the waitress whether the vegetable curry was sweetened as my wife is diabetic and must not consume sugar. We were assured that it was not sweetened. When it arrived it was obviously sweetened and therefore inedible. Presumably, it is cooked in some sauce straight out of a jar and the staff don’t actually know what’s in it. Similarly, the tamarind sauce tasted like brown sugar mixed with water with a little tamari added.Absolutely dreadful. Cheap though.

Had a curry from there in the weekend, was a bit odd and watery. Was a shame as had been before and had the same curry which was great. Different staff in the weekends?
