The mhow very best place to visit. who loves nature and their beauty
Some articles in popular literature state that MHOW stands for Military Headquarters Of War. However, this is a backronym, and there is no proof to support the theory that the name of the village comes from the acronym. The village near Mhow was called Mhow Gaon in the pre-British era, when English was not used in India. The Cantonment which came up in 1818 came to be known as Mhow Cantt after the name of this village. Sir John Malcolm spelt the name of this town as MOW in his writings. The 1918 edition of Encyclopædia Britannica also mentions MAU. However, the Cantonment was referred to by British officers as Mhow at least as early as the end of 1823 (letter from Lt Edward Squibb to his father in London).

MHOW is acronym for Military Head Quarters of War also known as Dr.Ambedkar Nagar.DADN is station code of the station.Total three platforms are here.Platform number:1 is for Meter Gauge trains.Platform numbers 2 and 3 for Broad gauge trains.Bus service is available to and from Indore Railway Station. Both MG and BG Routes available in this station.Meter Gauge, MG route is available here upto SanawadBroad Gauge, BG route is available towards Indore Junction.Only one food shop available here, on moving trolley.Chips and water available on trolley, paid service.Coach maintainence depot is also available to clean the coaches of train. You can see old MG freight sleeper berths here outside of station while moving towards sanawad.
I love this place as its my birth place. Station is very clean and calm. Feel the old and new rail life line as you can see broad and meter gauge
Visited Mhow for catching the patalpani heritage train. Railway should open online booking for it. Ever been on a train journey where the train waits for you? You can expect that experience here. May be a bit tough for the elderly as the train will stop at places where there are no platforms and you need to get down to see the waterfall and other scenic location.

Mhow’s only railway station, now upgraded to broad gauge. Some long distance trains also started operating from here now. The Dr Ambedkar Nagar Mhow railway station is one of the local railway stations in Mhow a suburb of Indore. This station on the Delhi-Hyderabad Meter gauge line was founded in the 1870s.
