A reviewer before me didnt like the fish and chips. I thought they were outstanding. Thick cut fish, cooked in a beer batter that was thin and crunchy. The pieces (two of them) were pretty much all fish, unlike so many establishments were the dish is nearly all batter. The fish was moist, sweet and perfectly cooked. Came with more chips than I needed and a right-sized salad. The other half had the three egg omelette which also was cooked to perfection. Came on a slice of thick-cut, tasty bread. Compliments to the chef! Nothing wrong with the service either. Lunchtime and our waiter was busy but was obviously on top of her game.

Serves meals, fish and chips, ice cream, etc. It is a good stop over after taking a great walk, run or bike trails. They serve praise worthy fish and chips and have various flavors of ice cream.

The food was absolutely delicious. The fish and chips were some of the best I’ve had, tender soft white fish. The pancakes were great, too. Staff were very polite and helpful, especially the girl taking the orders and serving the food. Slightly on the expensive side but well worth it. Highly recommend!

This place was so busy today, had to wait for our meals but the food was amazing. The pork belly salad was delicious, it was worth the wait. Staff were friendly and were smiling the whole time. we were overall very happy with the meals and service. it is a busy time of the year and we do need to support the locals hence we didnt mind the wait. I give a 5 star and would recommend anyone to try the pork belly salad, it is mind blowing. Good job eatery, we will surely be back😃

I am a local and afoodie and feel like I cook a great meal for my clients and my friends, and to know that I have a cafe on my doorstep that truly serves not only kind caring service but top notch food. This chef knows his stuff and puts love in the food and the gorgeous smiley indian girl and the owner really do care. Hey locals and people that come over - this rocks this place - yes sometimes they get busy but mostly I would recommend GREAT SERVICE and GREAT FOOD. Thank you for a special evening last night. Hope locals will support locals!!!!!!!!

I ordered fish & chips last week there. It has no taste at all. Fish was uncooked and no taste. I waited there 1 hour to get my dish on the table. Also for $28 I expected to get at least tasty meal. I am so disappointed about the service.

Great little cafe. The service is friendly, warm and helpful. Theyre happy to answer questions and help you make your selection. Coffee is also really good. The setting is amazing and incredibly peaceful in the morning. Great place to catch a bite and a drink when the kids are playing sport.

Very impressed, had a chicken pizza and a wine for $21. it was Delicious! great service, the person who was at the bar (staff or owner) he was very friendly and helpful. helped us decide what to order. nice atmosphere. perfect place to visit on a sunny day/evening. will be back

This place should definitely be reviewed more highly on Google Maps. I can only comment on what I saw today but the food, coffee, service and feel of the place was perfect. A great spot to dip into for a feed and refuel after a long walk up Mt Herbert nearby or even just enjoy the views of Banks Peninsula and Lyttleton across the bay. A*

Busy! We only had iced chocolate, only complaint is it was on the small side. But delish!! The food we saw going out looked AMAZING!

They were obviously overrun by people as it was the first fine day after Christmas and the last day of the holidays for most. Waiting time was 40 mins for a meal, this was communicated before hand. Cabinets were empty.We were happy to wait and chill with a drink. Food was great.The staff all did really well considering the pressure. People where lined up outside just to get in.

Went today. It was a bit busy.Got a table okWaited 25 minutes for our drinks & a further 25 minutes for our meal which wasn’t worth the wait.The omelette was tasteless & my partner’s meal was mixed up with someone else’s & was missing sausages & when they did arrive where pretty disgusting..Definitely won’t go again & won’t be recommending it to anyone.

Love this wee cafe, drove from Christchurch to diamond harbour for a hike and stopped by at this place for lunch! Beautiful place, friendly staff, great coffee and food. Had to wait a bit for the meals but they were extremely busy so that was understandable. Good job :)

Went here today... not impressed and wont be back. We first asked for take aways , they said they were too busy to do those.. we then decided to sit down... the place was busy being a public holiday but had 3 tables dotted around that were vacant but had no chairs. They had no burgers, no thickshakes.. when we ordered normal milkshakes, we got flavoured milk... 1 hour to be served 3 bowls of fries, they were drenched in soaked up oil and tasted like fish.To top it all they had a 15% surcharge... and that even applied to the ice creams they were selling out the window at the other end.Do not recommend at all... they have alot to learn about customer service and quality of food and service too.

Leaving a wet dreary day in Chch to find a stunning sunny day in Diamond Harbour made this family very happy. To top it off with a great ice cream selection definitely made our day next level. I love that the staff were smiley and chatty. 👍

This place is definitely under rated.We visited today, we ordered a vegetarian pizza, salad & muffin from the cabinet, coffee & wine. Food was absolutely delicious. They were very busy but the staff were friendly and helpful throughout.I would definitely come back.

Well it wasnt great. We had the vegetarian curry which was ok, but very runny and the chicken one which purported to be tandoori. It wasnt. And it had hardly any chicken. It took about 30 minutes more than they said so they gave us two free juices. It really would have been better with some flavour and perhaps veges to make it less watery. Trying to be constructive and support local but it really was a bit bland. Sorry. They also ran out of rice apparently. Perhaps a busy time.

Our party was split between 2 tables our table waited 1.5hours for our food and our coffee and the other table 2 hours!! The place was not overly busy, so I’m stumped as to why it took so long. However that being said the food was really nice.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food, ribeye steak is my go too.I have been coming to this place regularly since the new owner took over and I have never been disappointed. The new owner Katick is great!The previous owners were not good to deal with, glad the new owner has made so many positive changes to this place and atmosphere.

Purchased 2 of the small size ice-cream $3 ea. They were very minimal in size, more like a kid size. Wouldnt call again

Located at the heart of the city, this place has got wonderful environment and good ambience inside...its just Perfect place for hang out... Food was great and so as drinks... Loved the fries!

Hot chips were okay. $18 pizza not so good, the base was thin and looked like it was some sort of store bought flatbread or tortilla. Might be chasing the tourist dollar. 2020.

Terrible service, one employee was sitting on the ground behind the counter in full view of the customers and not even offering to help.... waited 5 minutes and someone finally offered to serve us but the ice cream didnt even have flavor labels.... and the food in the cabinet did not look fresh.... wont be going back.

Pretty poor service tbh, got overcharged by $8, pizzas came out cold after 45 minutes of waiting, the pepperoni looked like it was fresh out the packet not even cooked, absolutely no vibe, no music, you could hear a pin drop. Anyone know where the chef is? She said she would go see how far away the pizzas would be, went to the kitchen and was on the phone lol he was know where to be seen. Im sure this place is good in the weekends when there are more staff available. Cheers

Very nice place in the summertime, its nicer on the deck at the back of the shop, it even has a small bar out there.

Its one of the best cafe nearby ChristChurch!!Ambience is good, meat is perfectly cooked, has got variety of beers....and regarding the price, its a lot more cheaper than most of the cafes out there..Highly recommended

Service was slow. There was a family of 6 of us. We ordered some food. I ordered a coffee. There were 3 sizes. They had the three cup sizes on display to drink there. My coffee I ordered was the large with an extra shot because I like it strong. We were asked if we were eating there or take away. We decided to sit down there. When my coffee turned up it was in a very small take away cup and I mean very small! The smallest BP to go coffee cup is larger.I asked about the size and the reply was that they only do large in a take away cup. I could not be bothered asking again for a bigger coffee because our order took ages to arrive and we were due to catch the ferry. As for the extra shot the coffee it was like drinking slightly flavoured milk. I tipped most of it out. Which wasnt much anyway.

Im from Nelson. I visited this cafe with my family today. It was 7 of us. I really enjoyed the prawn risotto, my wife loved the fusion salad from the cabinet and My kids really enjoyed the fish and chips.Large portions, good customer service and great selection of ice cream. I would highly recommend visiting Diamond Harbour and this cafe.

I visited cafe on a busy Saturday and ordered cabinet food and coffee.Fair to say it was delicious and it was worth driving all the way to diamond harbour to spend the day. We also ended up getting take away fish and chips, which were delicious. Good job, we will be back.

Worst service ever. Took over a hour to get 2 disgusting pizzas, Couldnt even finish half of it, it was that bad. All the staff were playing on their phones rather then doing anything. Dirty dishes over flowing in the kitchen. Bad vibes all round would not recommend to anyone.

There was too much chocolate on the milk jugs

A little disappointing. The scenery around Diamond Harbour is spectacular, but this little watery didn’t live up to expectations.The service was slow and surly. At lunch time on a Sunday the food cabinet had hardly anything in it, the coffee was bitter and the fries were overcooked. The beer selection wasn’t great either.The place is busy, but that’s really only because there’s nowhere else. Next time I go to Diamond Harbour I’ll take a picnic and enjoy the amazing views.

My wife Ann and i visited Preserved Cafe last week for dinner, WOW What an AWESOME menu, Steak,Salmon,Pork Belly, Mussels, Prawns you name it. Service was super quick and hosts could not have been more friendly. Must be a locals favorite because there were plenty of people there for a quiet drink and a chat. Great atmosphere and great value. Thanks Rodney and Ann White

Good coffee and food.

Ordered 2 poached eggs on toast, waited 28 minutes. Plate cold, eggs over cooked. Fritatta in cabinet looked old and started to change colour, menu was terrible with spelling mistakes and Confusing to read. Spelling mistakes all through the cafe. Cabinet had an Indian fusion and menu was old school European. Lack of gluten free and dairy options. Savory muffins were like flat cakes maybe they forgot the baking powder? However the coffee was good so would return for coffee but nothing more.
