Very old hostel, rooms are quite congested for two student. But good environment, and greenery in the hostel, space for playing cricket and volleyball.

The hostel was heritage but college administration made it worse because on no repairing and cleanness. There is the good environment surrounding to this hostel. You are surrounded by green environment. This hostel has a big space in front of its building like basketball court and cricket ground. All the hostels have wifi (jioindianschoolofmines) as well as lane connection in every rooms

This is the second year M.tech Hostel + B tech 2nd and 3rd year hostel for Mechanical folks. A pretty chill.place to live. Better than Jasper Hostel.

One of best location if iit Dhanbad where the hostel is located. Its nice hostel. Its near to everything like RD, SAC, NLHC, LIBRARY etc In compare to other hostels.And its inner environment is also nice, there is lots of trees and plants they ceep the hostel cool specifically in the summer season.

Well Im not an iitian but right now Im in emerald hostel of IIT ism Dhanbad visiting a friend. I have been here for a week so I can tell u honestly how this prestigious hostel fares in reality. Even in 2019 this hostel of an IIT is running on tube lights very very old bed and pretty small spaces. There are two guys living in a every room which is cramping beacause rooms are very small for two people. The rooms are like any other old hostel but I didnt expect this from an IIT. The good thing about this hostel is good staff and cleaning which I found satisfactory. Small Canteens around the hostels are closed as they have been for a long time but u can go to Rd for chai and poori sabji in the morning or a desi Maggi in the evening or u can try cafeteria which is good.

Hostel with mess and canteen encapsulated in natural environment. Have parking lot and tv room, along with mini sports centre of Volleyball,Table tenis,Badminton. And not to forget sweet mango trees around the corner.Old hostel but have good natural environment.

Awesome hostel1. It has a soothing ambience of greenery all over. One can have a delight of mangoes in summer and jackfruits in monsoon!2. Minimal distance from all locations of prime importance viz. Nlhc, rd, main gate, etc.3. Limited capacity of students ensure quality food and less chaos that renders each student a value.4. It is the only hostel in IIT- ISM with a volleyball court along with a badminton one in the backyard.5. And no timing barriers at all !

Not too much gatheration but ya its normal & simple boys hostel.Some times u can see a snake also at the outdoor of the gate of that hostel . U can play vallyball there even at mid night also.

Probably the best hostel in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad. The Mess of this hostel is the best of all hostels. The rooms are small but the place is just infront of NLHC which is the best thing of all. The hostel has the best place for playing gully cricket and volleyball. It also has a separate Badminton court. The one of the oldest hostel has a Table Tennis room.NOTE- Architecture of Emerald Hostel and Opal Hostel are the same.
