A very hidden monastery only accessible by bridge. Very peaceful with just the sounds of nature surrounding you. Many people visit this place, even with organized tours with buses. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful setting if very tricky road to get to it. Sharp hairpin bends and steep in the final section coming from Klenike / Vranje/ E75. Nice tranquil place, a good gift shop with a range of obviously historic monastery and religious related gifts for all pockets, and friendly staff, volunteers I think, at the little traditional refectory / café, which has indoor and outdoor seating, where there are donation boxes to pay for the coffee, mountain tea and elderflower cordial.

Beautifull Serbian Monastery !

This is an excellent place near the border, monastery if beautiful. Near River has fish, so it is a nice to walk and enjoys in it. The road that is leading the monastery is not the best, and there are many curves on it. But, its worthed once you drive in the monastery and take a break. It is not near the main highway so plan to prolong your trip for an hour and a half, wherever you are going.

This is a monastery that marked 950 years of existence in June 2021. Extremely tidy, carefully guarded, it is great for a vacation and even a short visit, although it also offers the services of lodgings to tired travelers. It is located right next to the river Pcinja and the beautiful natural resources of this part of Serbia. You will be greeted at the entrance by a beautiful fountain and a spacious parking lot, and after visiting this beautiful monastery with a beautiful iconostasis and ancient frescoes, you will reach a boarding house with a guest house for casual travelers. The monastery of St. Prohor Pcinjski is located on the wooded slopes of the mountain Kozjak, on the left bank of the river Pcinja, in the area of ​​the village Starac, 30 km south of Vranje. According to legend, it was built in the 11th century by the Byzantine emperor Roman Diogenes as a sign of gratitude to Saint Prohor Pčinjski Mirotočivo [1], who prophesied that he would become emperor. The monastery works as a cultural and educational center of this region and it houses a theological school, a transcription-illumination workshop, and an organized icon painting craft. The head of the monastery is Archimandrite Metodije Markovic.

There are only two monks in the monastery, so the management of the boarding house and the inn was taken over by a natural person, this part is managed by Mrs. Marina. All intentional travelers in the inn are served coffee, natural juice (nettle, mint ...), cookies and drinks free of charge, a voluntary contribution can be left. There is a possibility of organizing lunch in the spacious dining room in the hostel, starting from 500rsd for adults, children do not pay.
