Modhumita Cinema Hall, one of the best known movie theatres in Dhaka, started its journey on December 1, 1967 through screening of the Hollywood blockbuster, Cleopatra. The cinema hall, located at Motijheel in the capital, celebrated its golden jubilee earlier this month. Iftekhar Uddin Naushad, 64, the present owner of Modhumita Cinema Hall and president of Bangladesh Motion Pictures Exhibitors Association (BMPEA), recently talked to The Weekend Independent about the hall’s historical journey over the past 50 years.

It was the best theater in Bangladesh. Huge curved screen, Dolby digital surrounding sound, seating arrangement, indie & outside theater environment and the washroom quality were very good. But now it needs to renovation(seating arrangement, washroom). It has still the huge capacity(around 1200 people). The price is affordable compare to Star/blockbuster.

Its a very old, well known & famous movie theatre in Dhaka city. Its already take across its century years which is very historic news. The environment is average but the decoration is very appreciable. The theater is not air conditioned but there are lots of fan. They need to improve & clean their washrooms properly. Also need to prevent smoking around the theater area.
