Jonaki Cinema Hall recently broke the consistent trend of suffering box-office losses prevailing in nearly all the movie theatres of the country. The hall obviously made headlines for combating zero ticket sale issues. The method was also innovative. The hall screened the T20 cricket match of the final of recently concluded Nidahas Trophy where India and Bangladesh took part against each other. The response was enormous as can be expected in a cricket-crazy nation. More than nine hundred viewed the match as opposed to the overall tally of four days of regular shows that strive to meet the one thousand mark. Thus the hall authorities are looking to push forward with this streak, looking to project the FIFA World Cup matches.Jonakis attempt to overlook cinemas and preference of sports and financial gains has also raised concern about the future of film industry over culture. The hall withheld the scheduled Matinee Show of Dhaka Attack and another film show at 9pm on the day it screened the Nidahas Final Match. Nonetheless they are not looking to back down. According to them even when ticket prices of DC seats and general seats are fixed at 70Tk and 60Tk people barely come to halls. So the prospects shown by cricket match are certainly something to bask on for major sports event of any type in the future. As football is also a very popular sport in the country the hall authorities are targeting the entire season of upcoming FIFA World Cup. They have even planned renovation of the hall. Other major tournaments popular in Bangladesh like IPL, BPL may also get screen in the future in this hall. Whether other halls will follow suit with this endeavour putting films in the bag remains to be seen.

Ticket price is on a hand and ac condition is not bad. Toilet is little bit unclean. Location of the Cinema hall os good.

A nice cinema hall to see movies. It is placed in commercial area where many shopping mall and residential hotels are there. Vehicles near the hall move slower due to traffic jam. Mainly local movies are played here, a very few foreign movies are played also.

Chairs are not comfortable. Air conditioner was stopped after 10~15 minutes. People smoked all around just outside the theater gate which was suffocating experience. Picture quality was good but the sound system was poor. not recommended.
