Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is an organ of Bangladesh government created for provision of transport infrastructures in rural areas and to provide technical support to the rural and the urban local government institutions (LGIs), planning and implementation of infrastructure development projects in the rural and urban areas to improve communication and transport network, job creation, and poverty reduction.LGED took root in the early 1960s, when implementation of Works Programme (WP) started to develop physical infrastructure for poor people. In the 1970s, it grew into a cell of the Local Government Division (LGD) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives. In 1982, it became an independent body named the Works Programme Wing per recommendations of the Enam Committee[a] to administer Works Programme nationwide, and was renamed as the Local Government Engineering Bureau (LGEB) per a decision of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms (NICAR) in October 1984. It was upgraded as LGED in August 1992.[3]LGED implements three of the four components of the Comilla Model, a development program designed at the Comilla Academy for Rural Development (renamed as Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development) in 1961. These are the Works Programme, the Upazila Irrigation Programme and construction of Upazila Training and Development Centre.Headed by a Chief Engineer it employs, as of 2007, a total of 10,246 Engineers and other staff. It has district offices headed by an Executive Engineer and sub-district offices headed by an Upazila Engineer. Upazila Engineers play key role for transport, social and institutional infrastructure development. This is the main building to control and distributing all works done by local government of Bangladesh. It is a huge building and gets heavily busy during working days. You can find this building easily from Agargaon Passport office.

Yea, i know this place.this place is just awesome.i heared about this place.Even recently i visited there.it was about a Engineering Department,Which is related to all Engineering Work.It’s really a good Department for doing Such a many thinks like construction drawing, design, supervision, quality control of Engineering work, running and final bill pay of construction work, engineers training, Laboratory facilities etc.This local government Engineering Department is beautiful to see.i loved this Local Government Engineering Department (LGED)...

This is the headquarter of LGED. LGED is a government organization. LGED work for the department of the rural sites of Bangladesh, this organization made lots of roads, bridges, culverts, flyover and gave lots of services to the rural areas of the country.

Lack of car parking.

Local Govt. Engineering Department started her journey before the liberation war but it consists as Department since 1993. Its the largest Engineering Agency of Bangladesh. It has many branches all over the Bangladesh. Its perform infrastructure development, Water resource management, consulting, and helping other Government agencies to fullfill their engineering related jobs. LGED Bhaban situated in Agargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh with modern and decorated building.

The LGED buildingThe main place of local government system in Bangladesh.The busiest office, however, needs to improve the quality of service.The quality of service is slow

This office of the Department of Education Engineering is the center of all development in the education department of the country. But whatever the development, its an excellent place for engineers and contractors to share unwritten contracts and loot. Ideal place for contracting business !!

It was bad to see the expensive car dumped !! Government car means bought with our tax money: /
