There are not many places in Dhaka city where you can go and sit for a while alone or with friends. This Rabindra Sarabar is one of the few places where you can find a bit of nature. There are some larger trees and to give you some shade. There is a lake where you can hire a paddle boat. You can grab some light snacks. You may sit for hours and watch hundreds of other people like you trying and failing to find a quite place to sit. You may find some band groups or theater group performing on the open platform. I would rate 1 star if it was in New York. But its Dhaka, and even places like this is hard to find.

Ultra modern girls are smoking with friends. That is not a good cultural education for our kids Sometimes it is embarrassing to go there with elder family members. Some of the couple behave as if they are the only one who exist in the world.Thats a public place I agree but that place should maintain our culture and customs. I am compel to put this bad review. Dhanmandi Lake area is not a place for citizen to walk off or take a fresh breathe in nature anyomore. There are lots of posters that announcing this place as free from beggar. There are lots beggars, police not taking action, I saw some kids also making and smoking weed.totally unhappy with my visit.not going ever again. But this is a whole beggars dan. Small groups of children are trained to target young people and force them to buy their 50 cents chocolate/flowers in 10 to 100 Taka. I got 10+ trained child beggars in my 30 minutes sitting there. And one thing that I suggest u dont go there if you are single. Too many couples here and there will make you depressed. 😜

Childrens toys, various types of street food are also available here. However, you may also feel annoyed by the extra crowds on holidays.
