The biggest Buddhist Monastery in Dhaka at Basabo, near Kamalapur. Has Temple, school, residential facilities for guests and orphans. Have a big pond at middle of the complex. A worth place to visit while in Dhaka but actual taste of real Buddhism cant be feel there. Its true that they run few charity organisation but also practice of real Buddhism is absent there. Mostly they run like a commercial organisation. But anyway, government also recognized it as a important Buddhist Temple place in Bangladesh. To know better about Buddhism, better to visit a temple in other cities especially in Chittagong division. Many Buddhist Temples are there where you can really learn something or have a meaningful chats with a Monk in a peaceful environment.

Just as small as humans, so there is a small big in mans mind, but who is bigger than religion, we still do not agree. There are many Buddha temples in Bangladesh . Every Buddhist temple in Bangladesh is very beautiful. This is a traditional Buddhist temple. There are 4 buildings for the temple, two of which are newly built. The statue has been removed from the east side in the temple. The preservation of Buddhist religion, culture and heritage in here. Religion plays an important role in promoting and spreading and running.#AccessibilityThis is done in the form of worship and charity.Heres what.1. Peace Temple,2. Orphanage,3. Library,4. Think Center5. Beacon & Training Center,6. Pali College7. School.8. Charitable treatment etc.(information collected from Temple Authority)If the biggest worship in their worship is the biggest pooja. The hard chewer donation. After every sunset in the evening, after 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm there is no regular prayer.#kidsFriendlyDuring the prayer, people outside are not allowed to enter.

Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery is one of the biggest monastery of Dhaka. This is one of the holy place for the buddhist community around Dhaka. It is a great place for Buddhist living around Dhaka. It is also a learning center with hostel for students. There is also a library and book store. Usually national programs related with Buddhist religion are organized here.It is probably the most famous and known Buddhist religious structure in the city if not in the whole country. With a 20 meters long statue of Buddha, it is also often considered as a place to visit by the local non-Buddhist just on visiting purpose. It is located quite close from the Pragati Swarani main road and thus is easily accessible. While you visit this holy place on the birthday of buddha.you will see the place will be decorated with full of lights (ofcourse d candles lighted by worshipers) A must watch.Theres also a huge golden buddha stupa n infront of that was a pond which was again decorated with lights..infact a memorable day indeedDefinitely recommended if you wanna see a Buddhist monastery in Dhaka.

Dhaka is the city of mosque and we are blessed with myriad of mosques at this compacted town. Comparing to Muslims, there are very few people from Bangladesh are having Buddhist in religion and which reflects to the number of their prayer halls.Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery (ধর্মরাজিকা বৌদ্ধ মন্দির) is such a prayer hall (also known as Bashabo Buddha Mandir) located inside the Dhaka city. It was built during 1962 to conduct their activities for Buddhist community alongside the prayer, teaching, and meditation. This temple has a medium sized pond inside and beside this, you’ll find a large golden status of Buddha standing on the Lotus. Also you’ll find the teaching (Pali Language) center and the prayer hall inside the premise.

Dharmarajika Bauddha Vihara the first Buddhist vihara (monastery) in DHAKA, was established in 1960 at the initiative of BISHUDDHANANDA MAHATHERA. It acts as the cultural and regional centre of Bangladeshi Buddhists. For over four decades it has been the religious centre for both local and foreign Buddhists living in Dhaka. The Dharmarajik Pali College was established here in 1960.The first foreign head of state to visit the vihara was King Bhumibol of Thailand who visited it along with his wife, Queen Sirikit, in 1962. On the occasion of their visit, a large prayer hall, named after ATISH DIPANKAR SRIJNAN, was built at the vihara.Subsequently, several dignitaries from home and abroad, and professing different religions, have visited this centre. The vihara has a large collection of Buddha statues. Among them are a massive, 10 high, bronze statue given in 1984 by Thailand and another golden statue, 2-8 high, given by Japan.
