Company OverviewBangladesh, a South Asian country heavily impacted by poverty, has been home to Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh since 1999. As a branch of Habitat for Humanity International it currently operates in five office locations across the country, aiming to break the cycle of poverty related to poorly-constructed homes and inadequate shelter.HFH Bangladesh is presently working in the areas of Mymensingh, Dhaka (Dhaka City and Dhamrai Upazila), Netrokona (Durgapur Upazila), Tangail (Madhupur Upazila), Chittagong (Banshkhali Upazila), Khulna (City Area), Bagerhat (Rampal Upazila) and Gazipur (Kaligonj Upazila) with the national office situated in the capital Dhaka. Each working location has an established Habitat Resource Center office that focuses on local research and initiatives, while using appropriate technologies to deliver housing solutions to low-income families. Habitat Bangladesh takes a holistic approach to development, working closely with communities, partner organizations and other Non-Government Organizations. Local, international, corporate and community volunteers work alongside our homeowner partners to donate their time, labor and money to help build houses.Habitat Bangladesh began implementing disaster risk reduction projects in 2007, Water/Santitation/Health projects in 2011, and urban projects in 2012. Habitat Bangladesh also helped to found the Urban INGO Forum and maintains strong co-ordination with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.To date, more than 12,000 low-income Bangladeshi families have partnered with Habitat to improve their housing, water, sanitation, and general living conditions. Approximately 300,000 people have also received training in micro-finance, training to improve water and sanitation, appropriate construction technologies, and disaster response and mitigation.
