Went here on our trip back from avalabetta.. its a great fort but not noticed as a popular tourist spot.. truly worth one time visit😍.. you can take good photos.. parking is available.. fort is not well maintained.. keep the place clean when you visit ✌️

Its a historical place. You can visit one time 😉 because the top view is so good ☺️ but little scary. Because the edges its not closed and so many small plants are there so we have to walk very carefully. And small temple one is there. But that entrance still theyre maintaining well its beautiful. Kids played on the grass. Thats it. So many people are living. So You can park your vehicle outside ☺️

The Best Place for families and friends for first time I visited to this place.

Location::On the Hyderabad highway , easy to find. Not exactly by the road side but you won’t miss it.What to see::Didn’t expect an entire village living inside the fort. The front of the fort seemed maintained ok. You can ride a bike inside and go around. Won’t recommend driving hefty vehicles inside as roads get smaller. More inside you go in it gets into a very busy street. Can walk around the fort wall. Not through the entire length but still.Won’t recommend to be your only destination for the day. It’s worth for as an add on only. The locals were helpful!

Its a good place to visit, dont expect some fort like in movies.. Its just a port wall, how they protected themselves from opponents..

A historical place which really needs the great attention and care from ASI and govt bodies.. the birth place of Tippu Sultan is also hardly 200m away from this fort. Most parts of this forts starts ruin.. and if these situation continues.. then it will become a memory within a short span of time.. pls preserve it for future...

Once we can visit to see. Outside view is very good 👍. But inside fully ruined. No security for the remaining fort portion. Govt should take immediate steps to preserve an old fort of previous generation. Good old venugopal swamy and nanjundeshwara swamy temple.

Devanahalli fort surrounds a village and many old temples. The ramparts of the fort are accessible and provides a good view of the surrounding areas. The place is not very well maintained though (with a local kid telling me not to go to some areas as there are cobras in that area). Need some efforts to maintain, plant grass around so that it can be developed to a tourist attraction. Views during the sunset are very nice ..

Fort has only walls and sidewalk which is historical. Easy access and was not crowded when I visited on a Sunday.

I would give the fort itself, that has been resilient, magnificent and withstood the test of time, a 5/5, but due to how poorly maintained and protected it is, I had to deduct stars.From what I’ve heard, this fort was the birthplace of Tipu Sultan himself. Considering the immense historical value of such a phenomenon, you’d assume the place would be in pristine condition and safeguarded vigilantly, instead it is in shambles.The entire external moat area of the fort is now a stream of sewage, blanketed in an assortment of garbage.People come and go as they please, myself included admittedly, but unlike me, there are people who’ve scrawled their names and graffitied the magnificent walls and even urinated inside the watch tower rooms along the breadth of the fort.This is a shame, and this is not how our heritage and history ought to be treated, let alone the monument of freedom fighters and martyrs.

Historical fort near Devanahalli about 40 kms from Bangalore. Interesting facts about the place, but you have to read about it on the internet. The place is open to public and no entry fees or tickets needed. It is just the fort wall on which you are allowed to walk on, admiring the architecture of the fort and the rest is upto your imagination about the history of the place. A board suggests that ASI is working to restore the place but cant say for sure if there is any work being done. Within the walls of the fort are many temples and also the birth place of Tipu Sultan. Best visited towards the evening to avoid exposure to sun as there is no shade for protection.Please carry back your garbage 🗑️ if you plan to have a picnic here, there is enough already there so no need to add yours too.

Very good place, surrounded with lots of temple

Its basicaly the walls surrounding a village filled with houses and temples. So one who want to enjoy the architecture and the way the walls are built this is the place, if ur expecting a palace inside it will surely disappoint you as this doesnt have one. Walls, the way they have built is quite amazing.

Best thing to do over a weekend just drive to the Fort and walk on the Fort, no fee, you can relax on the lawns, you can have an overall view from the Fort, located 35km North of bangalore city, if you love history then yes a must visit to see how the structure of Fort is so beautiful. Near places to visit, tippus birth place, venugopalswamy temple, siddalingeshwara temple, across street chandramouleshwara temple, anjaneya temple as well.

Its old structure, only the boundary left for tourist to visit. I dont recommend this place at all. I travelled way long from city to this place approx 45kms drive but nothing thr to experience. Try different place and if you want then Google for the images before you plan

Devanahalli Fort is located 35 kilometers (22 mi) north of Bangalore city, at Devanahalli in the State of Karnataka, India. Chieftain Malla Byre Gowda of Avathi, a Vijayanagara empirevassal, built a mud fort in c. 1501 at Devanadoddi (now called Devanahalli). In the late 18th century, Hyder Ali re-constructed the fort in stone resulting in the current structure.

Historical Fort near Namma Bengaluru City having significant historical story behind it!!Amazing construction of fort. The Fort is still very strong and well maintained.This is not a huge fort, but small built by then kings od devanahalli.While you enter inside the fort, you will notice all new buildings of latest trend. Here and there you will find some old structures still standing. There are number of temples present inside the fort. Some of them are 800 years old. One can climb the fort by steps and walk on the fort from one end to another end. Its truly amazing!!

Good. Most of the building is ruined. I dont find anyone for looking after it. There are many beautiful temples around the fort.

Devanahalli fort is a good destination for any day evening trip. It is serene and very small place for a short visit. It is very close to Bangalore to Hyderabad highway.

Nice wall , well maintained. Did not get off to explore due to the covid issue. I liked the way its built. I am sure its gor a lot of history will make it next time and for sure post a better review.

There is nothing much to do at fort. Just go for a walk and see village inside the fort walls. It needs maintanance for sure.

I was surprised to know that there was a fort so close to Bangalore City. Its a nice drive to the fort. However, am I really very impressed by the fort? I would not say so. Go for a drive, hang out for a while. Thats about it. Historical facts I am not aware of.

Located at near, Devanahalli District, Bangalore - Hyderabad Hwy, Devanahally, Karnataka 562110, the modern-day fort is the result of the changes made by Hyder Ali and later by Tipu Sultan. Since the fort was always in a war type situation, it has around 12-semi circular parapets each having room to hold guns. During the time of battles, these parapets were the base ground for overseeing the enemies and planning in advance the possible moves. The fort has entrances in the east and west which are relatively small and are designed with cut-plasterwork.

Not much crowd. On the way or back from Nandi hills. Signboard says tippus birth place. Interesting is you will find houses within the fort. Could have been well maintained. Grass is green probably bcoz its monsoon. You can find castle grazing. There are few temples around. Only one part is intact. Rest have fallen apart. Your can spend 1hr max.

This is just a wall surrounding a village. I did not feel there is anything to see there. You have so many beautiful fort like gudibande or chitradurga fort around bangalore. It is not worth to visit.

This is the birthplace of Tippy sultan. The fort wall is very big and still strong. It is built around 15th century. There are 12 magnificent bastions in the fort wall. You can see the fort wall clearly from outside then inside. Vehicles go inside the fort. There are many temples inside the temple, especially Venugopal Swamy Temple is very beautifully

Good place to hang out for a while. Not too much to see. It is a protected monument, but has private houses and people living inside the fort.

Its Birth place of Tippu Sultan

It is the fort of Tipu Sultan birthplace. Has lots of temples within it. Also has marker of exact place tipu was born. Its close to Bangalore airport. Its nicely maintained.

Place is not good for visitors who wants view and vibe. its like a wall , no place for sitting and resting.

Tipus birth place. The fort is done up so beautifully well. Cant imagine how in the 18th century era, they have managed to lift these bolsters. The fort is long and goes deep within, bordering the town for a long distance. Dont miss the spectacular view from the side mud road going parallel to the fort.

Nothing much to see in this place. Just a compound of fort and remains of it. Can be visited while passing through Devanahalli Main road.

A historical place, which isnt maintained well by the authorities. The fort is beautiful by itself and has amazing war techniques of the past. Inside of fort is occupied by houses and many temples. Human feces found at many places, ruining the experience. However, the beauty and meticulous build are a treat for travelers.

Nice view from outside, inside most of the land occupied/used by villagers from long. It’s 500 year old and every easy to claim, Morning and evening is the best time to visit.

When I googled places to see near Bengaluru airport, Devanahalli fort popped up. I loved the look of the pictures and decided to check it out. When I reached there, to say I was disappointed is an understatement. It’s not exactly a fort, rather it looks kinda like a super structure on the road. There’s not much to see or photograph. Personally I feel I’ve seen better forts and this was not at all impressive.

Historical place. But only wall is available. You can spend about 30 min max here. Inside the fort normal building are there. So nothing much to see inside.You can see those big walls and take some photos.

On the way back from Nandi hills. One side of the fort is damaged no proper maintenance. There were many temples and houses inside the fort.

Fort is small and free to visit.The entire periphery is present, ie its unbroken.Inhabited by people.The gates and towers are picturesque.Rest, expect a stay of few minutes only.

The structure of the fort is quite well maintained, though not much efforts has been made to maintain the surroundings. Theres nothing great to see as such except for the walking area at the top of the fort.

There is not much to see here in this fort. Just few ruins where you can climb up in the fort walls to view the sightseeing. There is also few temples located inside the fort. There is a whole town of Devehanalli situated inside it. This place is situated right next to the main highway connecting Hyderabad and Bangalore. Tipu Sultans birthplace is located just a walk away.

Perfect place for sight seeing. I cycled there from Jakkur, thus making a total distance of 52 kms from my place. And I must say, youll enjoy there.

Good Still needed improvements. Maintenance is not proper. Cleaning had to be taken immediately as surrounding is dirty.

Good place to visit enroute Nandi hills and other treks in the area. The fort is now a residential area inside.

Ok kind of place. Remains of a fort, which is surrounded by Devanahalli Town. You can visit only if you are around. Not that big and you can spend about one hour max. in this place. Place is maintained clean.
