ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும்.After participating in the wonderful uchikala abhishegam in Pillayarpatti, we went back to karaikudi, had our lunch, and went back to our hotel for a short nap.We already decided that we will visit and participate in the Pradhosam in this temple.Got up around 4.00 pm, had our cup of tea enroute to the temple, and reached the temple around 4.45pm. Felt so so happy to see such a wonderful twin rajagopurams which were so wonderfully painted. The temple itself must have been refurbished since it was looking so neat and clean.Though it is a Shiva temple, still the importance is given to the great writer / poet Sekkizhar. some even call it Sekkizhar temple.Felt so happy that a decent size crowd was already there in the temple to participate in the Pradhosam pooja. Each temple has it own uniqueness, and in this temple it was interesting to note that nandhi was the vahana (infront of) for Ambal. So the pradhosam pooja was being done for both the nandhis. It was also nice to see people moving from one nandhi (sannadhi) to the other on cue, as if there was somekind of unknown switch telling them to go from the Lord sannadhi to the Goddess sannadhi. Was nice and great to see the temple kept in such good condition, shows that the nagarathars are doing a fantastic job not only in the upkeep of the temple but also in running it.Temple faces east, Lord and Ambal faces east. Another unique feature is Ambal present on the right hand sand of the Lord. Two kodimaram present. Two rajagopuram (another unique feature) present side by side and both facing east. Huge temple pond present and is present infront of the temple.Definitely a must visit temple if you are in this area.

City Shiva Temple is considered as one of the most beautiful temples in Devakottai. The temple was built by the Chettiars of the Chettiars of Devakottai. Thus, it is in the traditional architectural style of the Chettiars. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is believed to have come here on a golden horse and blessed his devotees. Other important deities worshiped here are Sri Sundareswarar and Sri Meenakshi. Every year in October, people from all over the world gather together to celebrate the Navratri Festival. After the Diwali festival, the Skander Shashti festival is celebrated here for about seven days. This festival for devotees of Lord Muruga is celebrated with full pomp and splendor. Another important feature of the temple is the weekly worship which has been held every week for the last 60 years.

The temple, which is managed by the towns in Devakottai, has received many specialties. Meenakshi Ammans immediate Sokkanatha Perumthan and the Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai is the place to join the school with the Meenakshi Amman. Similarly, the same name is that the Lord of the same name will marry the Meenakshi Ammayam at night.

It is a wonderful treatise on the history of the Naymans. Chebdar Swamis composed this. Vandondar, a scholar, tried to build a temple for the man. The main purpose of Siva is to volunteer for the servants. Here he was trying to raise another goddess, Chembadar, to the temple of Vandondar. But, under certain circumstances, it was Shiva Koi Lai. There he built the cedar.Vandondar bought a huge bell to sound in the temple. On it is inscribed Chebdhar Temple Mani. The history of the 63 Naimans is said to be a red leopard or a myth. One scholar, a hard-working volunteer, had an unfathomable loyalty to Sebhavar and the Shiva Purana which he composed. He praised the Chebdar who composed the Shivpuram and intended to compose the thread. Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai, who wrote his book Manomanniyam, Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai also wrote the book on Sebdar on the basis of Vandondar. He also decided to build a temple for him, in honor of Sheddar. However, under certain circumstances it was decided to build the temple to Lord Shiva. Meenakshi and Sundareswarar were consecrated in the sanctum sanctorum. He built a shrine for Sebhadar alone.
