Lots of visitors at any time of day. Floor gets hot during summer and cleanliness is an issue. Foreigners should be beware of thugs in guise of guides. Dress fully covered due to religious issues. Beautiful place to visit. You can see love, devotion, togetherness of people inside this ancient Masjid. Market around this place has huge number of non vegetarian food, for all foodies. If you have never visited this place, you should come here, once in your life time. This place is packed during Ramzan month. Whole night, the market is open for eating.Very beautiful place with beautiful architecture you’ll definitely will fall in love with the architecture there. It a walking distance from Red Fort but you also can take a rickshaw. There are 3 gates and you can keep your shoes outside for ₹10 per shoe. You can take beautiful pictures there.

It is our first stop in our New Delhi trip. It is located int he middle of the city and the mosque is elevated that you need to take the stairs. They also have a security check so it is best not to have a bag with you for easy entry. To enter the mosque, you need to take off your shoes. Either you enter barefoot or with socks. We were told that we can use the hotel slippers so some brought it.You also need to think about what to wear as sleeveless shirt and shorts are not allowed. I suggest you bring extra clothes with you (if you want) to conform with the rules. Although scarfs and garments are available at the entrance for free, I suggest you bring your own for hygienic purposes! The mosque is really big and impressive. The color is also nice. Although it is a warm day, the stones are not really hot. You are free to roam around and explore.

Its a very crowded place yet worth visiting.Theres a big market leading the way towards the masjid.Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in IndiaIt was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656, and inaugurated by its first Imam, Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari. Situated in the Mughal capital of Shahjahanabad (today Old Delhi), it served as the imperial mosque of the Mughal emperors until the demise of the empire in 1857. The Jama Masjid was regarded as a symbolic node of Islamic power across India, well into the colonial era. It was also a site of political significance during several key periods of British rule. It remains in active use, and is one of Delhis most iconic sites.Evening is the best time to visit cause lighting makes it look more divine. Its a religious place and so of course it will bring peace to you.Haji Imran Sheermal around Jama masjid is very tasty, dont forget to try it. Cost is around 150 to 200.Thanks for reading ❤️

Didnt understand the logic behind but it seemed cool. The place is big enough and the market outside is amazing. Just stay away form electronic devices and gadgets as they are not even a first copy. After the construction of the monument in 1656, it remained the royal mosque of the emperors until the end of the Mughal period. The courtyard can accommodate more than 25000 people. There are three domes on the terrace which are surrounded by the two minarets. On the floor, a total of 899 black borders are marked for worshippers. You can feel the peace and inner happiness which we generally feel around any religious place. Its the biggest mosque of India and probably if Asia too, so we expect a little bit more sanitation and also the cleaning of the water of the Pond their which is of religious significance for the Muslim community.Shoes, you can carry in your hand inside the campus or if you want you can also deposit the same at the entrance for @ ₹20.Ill suggest the latter as it gives the shoe collector their livelihood. Also, while you are at it, donate some penny to the beggars and let them feel“No one goes empty handed from the gates of Allah Have a Nice day.Enjoy 🤟😍P.S.- Tiktok banana Sakht mana hai😂😂

It was originally called Masjid e Jahan Numa, meaning mosque commanding the view of the world. The construction was done under the supervision of Saadullah Khan, wazir (or prime minister) during Shah Jahans reign. The cost of the construction at the time was one million Rupees.[1] Shah Jahan also built the Taj Mahal, at Agra and the Red Fort in Old Delhi, which stands opposite the Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid was completed in 1656 AD (1066 AH).[1] The mosque was inaugurated by Imam Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari, from Bukhara, Uzbekistan, on 23 July 1656, on the invitation from Shah Jahan.[2] About 25,000 people can pray in the courtyard at a time .[3][4] The mosque is commonly called Jama which means Friday.[1]After the British victory in the Revolt of 1857, they confiscated the mosque and stationed their soldiers there. They also wanted to destroy the mosque as an act of punishment to the city. But due to opposition faced, the demolition was not done.[5]The iconic mosque is one of the last monuments built under Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. After the construction of the monument in 1656, it remained the royal mosque of the emperors until the end of the Mughal period.[citation needed]During 1948, the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Asaf Jah VII was asked for a donation of ₹75,000 to repair one-fourth of the mosque floor. This great mosque of Old Delhi is the largest in India, with a courtyard capable of holding 25,000 devotees. It was begun in 1644 and ended up being the final architectural extravagance of Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor who built the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort.Jama MasjidThe highly decorative mosque has three great gates, four towers and two 40 m-high minarets constructed of strips of red sandstone andwhite marble. Travellers can hire robes at the northern gate. This may be the only time you get to dress like a local without feeling like an outsider so make the most of it.Jama Masjid of Delhi, Jama Masjid also spelled Jāmiʿ Masjid, Jama Masjid of Delhi also called Masjid-i Jahānnumā, mosque in Old Delhi, India, constructed in 1650–56 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahān, a noted patron of Islamic architecture whose most famous work is the Taj Mahal, in Agra. Jama Masjid, now the second largest mosque on the Indian subcontinent, is also an impressive example of Mughal architecture.Jama Masjid is Delhi’s principal mosque, the place where the city’s Muslims traditionally gather for Friday communal prayer; Jama Masjid is Arabic for “Friday mosque.” The mosque is near the Red Fort, yet another of Shah Jahān’s buildings. Jama Masjid and its courtyard stand on an outcropping more than 30 steps higher than the street, giving the mosque a commanding view of the surrounding area. The longer name, Masjid-i Jahānnumā, translates to “world-reflecting mosque” or “world-displaying mosque.” The mosque was built by a crew of some 5,000 workers. The principal construction material was red sandstone, but some white marble was also used.Jama Masjid is oriented toward the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which lies to the west. An open courtyard facing the eastern gateway of the mosque building is at least 325 feet (99 metres) square and can accommodate 25,000 people. The eastern gateway itself was originally reserved for royal use exclusively. Others used smaller gates on the north and south sides of the building. Two 130-foot (40-metre) minarets mark the northeast and southeast corners of the building. The largest interior space is the prayer hall, 90 × 200 feet (27.4 × 60.96 metres). Above the prayer hall’s entrances are calligraphic inscriptions in Persian. Three large marble domes rise from the prayer hall’s roof.In the 21st century Jama Masjid was the scene of two violent incidents possibly connected with terrorism. In 2006 13 people were injured when two bombs went off in shopping bags left in the courtyard, and in 2010 two people were wounded in an attack by gunmen on a tourist bus parked outside the mosque.
