Sugar Mill Company, Doiwala was setup before my father was born, i.e., approx 45 to 50 years ago what I know from now. This place has covered a vast area of land and providing employment to more than thousand people from the time it has been setup. It is one of the major sugar producing plants of Uttarakhand government which government is running even in the time of losses for so long. Here not only farmers from Uttarakhand, farmers from other state come as well to deposit their share of Sugarcane which they grow during the course of year. Work never stops in this factory. But rush is only from last week of november to first week of april. This is the time when factory is quite busy weighing sugarcanes, crushing them, squeezing them etc. Final product is sugar and by-products are molasses which is called seera in hindi. Molasses is further used by alcohol factories to produce ethanol. Other by products include khoi ( dried remains of sugarcane) which is further used to make cardboards and raw vinegar.The story about Sugar Mill ends here.Hope you enjoyed it.
