Best hotel experience ever!Location is above the humdrum of the town, peaceful hill top with a clear view of Darjeeling and Kanchanjangha at the same time.Quiet spacious with a garden, playground, table tennis, library. But mostly what sticks is the behaviour of the staff, manager and assistant manager. They are cordial yet put effort to make you feel at home.If visiting Darjeeling this hotel is a must try, especially if you are a cat lover.

However, front desk staff was very responsive and professional but the support (room service and restaurant staff) needs to be more attentive and responsive.

Location: One of the best in Darjeeling as far as viewing the majestic Kanchanjungha range is concerned. On a clearer sky you can see a vast range on the right as well as the left side of the Sleeping Buddha range.Hotel architecture: Awesome, with a touch of the British style.Rooms: Well maintained with adequate heating arrangements like Room heater as well as bed heater. The inside atmosphere will be cosy enough in December or January as well when the outside temperature falls below zero. Decoration, furnitures, bed linens, towels, toiletries, tea-coffee maker, snacks, mineral water bottles etc are proper. Kanchanjungha is visible from the room when you push the curtains aside. The ventilation in the restroom is bit compromised for which it took time for the bathroom to dry up after use, especially after a shower.Front Desk: Always very much caring and cooperative with staffs like Ms. Sneha Lama and Ms. Priyanka Gurung. They attended every call, sorted out any issue, arranged vehicles for Siliguri pickup and drop, Tiger Hill and other sightseeing. The hotel also provides free car service for the guests to visit the Mall and come back.Restaurant: Food was great. Although the menu mostly had signature Indian cuisines and little bit of Chinese and Continental dishes, the taste was just awesome. Restaurant staffs were very warm and courteous.Housekeeping: Regular housekeeping service was available including daily cleaning of rooms.Ambiance: The entire property is very well maintained with Cedar and Maple trees all around. A bouquet of flower plants can be seen throughout the entire property. The garden, walkways and entrance are very well decorated with various plants. Three cute cats namely DJ, MJ and CJ can be seen roaming around. The mountain range can be seen from almost every corner of the property but the best outdoor place is perhaps from the open childrens playing area.Overall, it was a lovely experience.

The hotel’s location is amazing. The view from the room is to die for. You can see the entire Darjeeling from there and also the hills of Kanchenjunga( if the weather is clear enough ). The staff is very cooperative, helpful, well- mannered and guide you the right way. Especially I would like to mention Mr. Sidharth at the reception. Their hospitality was beyond my expectations - excellent. The rooms are clean, cozy and very unique in terms of architecture. A separate seating area is provided within the room itself. Washrooms are clean. The food is amazing. They also provide a pick and drop service till mall road/ market. The hotel is quite huge. A must stay if you are going to Darjeeling.

We stayed at this place in Aug-19 and really enjoyed the stay. The place is located a bit far from the Mall Road however they provide free pick up and drop off to the Mall road twice a day in the morning and evening. Even if you miss the timings, there are enough cabs available from the Mall to drop you to the hotel for RS 200 (rates may vary according to season). The place itself was nice and the views were awesome though a bit marred by the houses close by (as in all of Darjeeling ) . We stayed in the Family room and rooms were good and adequate for 4 people and a kid. The breakfast and dinner spread was adequate but not luxurious. We found the food to be bland on the first day but we gave our feedback to the chef and they made changes resulting in much better taste for the balance of our stay. Overall a good hotel in a great location ideal for a getaway from the crowds.

Really stellar service is the highlight of this place. Its situated on one of the higher points in Darjeeling, so exploring the town on foot is a bit of a challenge (the hotel offers very convenient pick up and drop services for free though), but the beautiful property, with excellent views, is definitely worth it. The main reception area especially is fantastically lit with natural light, and the rooms are warm and spacious. Once again though, its the super friendly and cooperative staff that make this a great place to call home in Darjeeling.

As a solo elderly woman traveller I found Cedar Inn the most perfect place to be. If a hotel is to judged on the basis of its staff then CI tops all the way.Every wish every whim every request was so cheerfully and warmly met with immediate response. I am the kind of traveller who calls reception/housekeeping/room service etc incessantly and every time on the dot my needs were met. The property at different levels had great views of Kanchenjunga and you can just open your eyes to the sun rise from your bed and gaze at the mighty peaks! The food was awesome so take a deal with meals incl else it can get costly and the restaurant staff are a dream to have around, attentive yet unobtrusive. There is free pick up drop facility everyday to the town centre. Avail of it and walk to the quiet Nightingale Park so you get your mountain walks too!Stay at CI and live with the thought that you made at least one good decision in your lifetime!!!

If u get a booking here, do take it to enjoy your stay at the property. One can see the Kanchanganga peak from here as you take your morning tea from the lawns. 15 mts walk to the mall from here or they have regular transport to the mall too. This place has car parking in case you drive down up here. Centrally located and gets a thumbs up. Enjoy the live piano as you take your dinner.

Hotel Cedar inn is probably located at highest point among all Darjeeling hotels just below St. Pauls school .Its a very well maintained and decorated property that boast off very good maintenance, housekeeping and well groomed work force. Only problem is accessibility of main city centre and tourist point ,which is partially catered by limited hours pick up/drop facility from/to Hotel Capital near Caventers

Hi this post is not for Cedar Inn;As everybody is aware of the status of the Hotel… it’s awesome; But, how many of the tourist knows that Alloobari Tea Estate which is nearby (walking distance of 15 minutes) is the 1st Darjeeling Tea Garden started by Britishers !! Yes it is;The garden had a factory now the Green Leaf is going to Happy Valley Tea Estate. But one can enjoy the beauty of the garden having a deep jungle in the lower site; mind you have to walk down and up – no motor-able road; You can have a clear view of Kanchanjangha in North; this tea garden is the closest tea garden from Darjeeling Town; Hope this post will encourage tea lovers to taste real tea….

Expensive, but makes this worth it are the views from the hotel and small gardens all around the hotel with seating facilities. As for the rooms itself, the bathroom is clean but can be improved in terms of hot water availability, separation wet/dry area. Similarly a lot of much cheaper hotels provide basic stuff like toothbrush, toothpaste, Combs etc which were not provided here. Also the heater in our rooms wasnt very effective at least. The prices quoted for renting a car for sightseeing were also much higher than what I was able to figure out myself(4200 vs 3500 for the same car).Another gripe of mine is the hotel ceilings can be too small on some corners and if you dont notice and bend you end up hurting your head.Really, the only reason I gave this 4* is because of the excellent location and views. Else it should be something like a 3.5*.PS : they also have some cute cats hanging out inside the property! I

I stayed here from September 25th to 30th. Surprisingly, the only place, from where I could enjoy the real beauty of Darjeeling, is the window of my room. View wise this hotel is the best to stay in Darjeeling. The hotel was neat and clean. Almost spotless. The staffs were most welcoming, friendly and professional I have faced so far. The foods of the resturant were delicious. I was amazed by the courtesy and behaviour of the Manager and the Assistant Manager. I cant imagine to stay at a different place in Darjeeling. But there are some scopes of improvement too. Like -1. Its not very difficult to make a bathroom leak proof. Its annoying to change the room due to leakage from bathroom.2. The rooms were a bit dark. More lighting should be arranged. There are a lot of bright energy efficient light available.3. Every bathroom should have its own water heaters.4. I cant understand why Wifi is not made available in the rooms. I know internet is very costly in Darjeeling but the amount of money the guests are paying for the rooms are as high as many 5 stars hotel.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Cedar Inn in Darjeeling, India. The property is at the very top of Darjeeling giving you a breathtaking view of the whole town and the mountain range. The view alone would be worth the stay here, but this place was so much more than that.Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the staff and the GM of Cedar Inn. They were extremely accommodating and friendly. They gave me great advice on what to visit based on my interests whether those included more touristy destinations or local hot spots; they were a big help in my exploration of the city. They told me about events and destinations I otherwise may have not visited. They also took care of all the travel arrangements, which I cant appreciate enough. They reduced the stress and made everything so much smoother with my sightseeing. The General Manager, Sanjay, has been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years and with my extended stay here; its not hard to tell. As far as the service goes, it was world class. I also loved their bar and restaurant. They have a wide selection of eats from their menu for room service, but the restaurant was delicious! They have a new menu selection each day at the restaurant, which was refreshing. The guests at the hotel were great too, I made a really good friend there! I was traveling alone and that was a nice bonus! The rooms are large, beautiful and clean. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of living and service. The views speak for themselves and the property itself is designed beautifully. I was told a very famous architect designed the building long ago and she was clearly a genius. Google photos of this place or go to their website, it really sold me to stay here initially. Im glad I made the choice I did because they made my trip to Darjeeling one to remember.I highly recommend going to the Japanese Monastery. If you wanna do something people dont really know about, ask Sanjay about attending the large monastery down the road for this Buddhist prayer they do with instruments everyday around 4:30pm. We were the only ones there and its not really listed anywhere. I thank hem for telling me about it because it was beautiful to the point I got goosebumps.A big thanks to Sanjay and the staff for a wonderful experience! Theres no doubt that I would stay at the Cedar Inn again if Im ever back in the area! Cheers!
