This is a very nice and comfortable homestay. Aunty was really very caring. Best this about this home stay is you can enjoy the view of Kanchanjanga from your balcony. Food was very delicious. It is a lifetime experience. If you want to enjoy the pahari life truly please stay there. You wont regret it.

An absolutely brilliant experience within budget!! A scenic homestay run by a very loving and caring family. Youll be treated to amazing home-cooked food, superb tea and a majestic view of Mount Kanchenjangha from the rooms. Currently, they only have a King room (1/2 pax) and Queen (4 pax) rooms. The place is located downhill from the Observatory Hill View Point, in Naya Basti village which is quite a walk from the Chowrasta, so not ideal for senior citizens or individuals who either cant walk or hate getting tired! :). Best time to visit: October-November.

This homestay has 2 big interconnected rooms one having 2 double beds accomodating 4 person. The other room has single double bed accomodating 2 persons. Both the rooms are interconnected and have one large common bathroom. Thus homestay is perfect for large family accomodating upto 6 person. The view from the balcony is also great. The food is homely cooked meal as per your requirement. The mall is 15-20 min walking distance through narrow village road which can only accomodate bikes. So the only means of reaching mall is walking. Since the slope is gentle walking is not an issue other than for elderly persons. The owner of the property Sashi is very welcoming and helpful. She even arranged for a car to bring us to the homestay at 8pm. The tea which is served is high quality darjeeling tea which i will miss sorely. Overall if you are looking to stay away from the hustle bustle of mall road this is a perfect stay. Will again stay there the next time i come with my family

It is a home stay where the charges are per head basis . The childrens are also charged full. But surprisingly it donot includes fooding. You ( husband and wife ) with a single child of 10 years need to pay the charges of 3 heads in a double bed , which is not justified . No drinking water was provided !!!!! Two bed rooms are there with one bathroom adjacent to one of the two bed rooms. So you have to pass the other bed room to use the bathroom. We faced problems with the host who were furious and indecent. Otherwise the location was good , a little far from the Mal road. But far from the conjugation of Darjeeling which is a positive point. The road towards Mal was not suitable for travelling espetially at night. Though it took just 15 minutes to reach the mal by walking.

I was a little apprehensive in the beginning about coming here because there werent many reviews online. But it turned out to be one of the best decisions Ive ever made! Light Inn is a very young homestay (hence the few reviews as of yet). But the rooms, facilities and service here are on par with 3/4 star hotels in the area, but for a very nominal price. The rooms are large, with comfy beds (lots of pillows!) and a fantastic view of tea gardens and Mt. Kanchenjunga. The hosts, Deeya, Sashi and Rudra, took care of me like family. Sashis cooking is AH-mazing, and I got complimentary Darjeeling tea (with snacks) every morning and evening. The highlight of my trip was a homemade momo cooking class. Sashi showed me how to fold the little dumplings and I actually got the hang of it! Im so excited to try making it again on my own! The location is on the side of a mountain, and you have to walk a little bit to get there. But its worth it for the tranquility. Thank you, Light Inn Homestay for an unforgettable experience! Hope to be back soon! :)
