I was so shocked that this museum was free! They had some really good pieces. I was impressed with the size too. The layout was a little funky, but overall it was a nice facility! They had a good collection of abstract art, which I really enjoyed. They also had quite a few well-known artists too which was awesome.Downsides were that it was really busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon and parking was a bit of a challenge too since it was our first time in the area. The experience was worth it though!

Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits in this museum. It was much bigger than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. Parking was $15 below the museum and admissions to the museum itself was free, although they do prefer that you reserve your time slots online. I highly recommend visiting the Dallas Museum of Art if you’re into art and history.

Good museum to visit while in Dallas. It is free but requires a ticket that can be emailed to you. Opens at 11 and was not very busy given the size of the place. Exhibits varied from all over the world. Had a couple wow factor items but many items were just pleasant to view. 15 bucks to park in the deck, a cheap date for sure. Went through in about two hours and felt like I saw it all. Enjoy.

Free to the general public, excluding special exhibits, its a great way to spend an hour or two of your afternoon. Beautifully curated and organized, its a great way to view a vast array of work in both time and scale without the pretentiousness of a larger museum. Its a great introductory into popular artists and time periods that may just bring out the secret lover of humanities in you.

I had quite an enjoyable time at DMA and will def be going back! The tickets are free and I highly recommend reserving online. It was super easy to do and when we got to the museum all we had to do was get our mobile tickets scanned and we were in. No waiting in lines like that! The museum had a few sections closed off for repair but otherwise I greatly enjoyed art from around the world. I mostly spent time in the European art section but there is work from all over the world and dating back thousands of years to enjoy and absorb. A must - especially for the price!

I love The DMA! The exhibits have not changed too much since I was here last but there were surprises, as usual. The silver furniture room was delightful. And the African and Asian Art exhibits were as phenomenal as I remembered them not to mention the Islamic art. I enjoyed being able to talk about some of the pieces with my youngest son in the European section, especially the Christian artwork and the artists rendition of Christ. Pretty cool museum, there is a good variety of art in here with different styles and from different time zones. When you walk in you see a big blue man statue and you should go check it out because there is a small man statue by its feet. They have a lot of things that I wouldn’t think were art. The dragon dog looking things are cool, no idea what era or whatever they are from but I want to take them home and couldn’t.

They have extensive permanent galleries centered around geographical areas, giving visitors a lovely snapshot of the development of art through the ages. This building is huge but there aren’t too many exhibits - lots of white space with a few rooms. I’m giving this museum one star for the giant, sensory disturbing exhibit they have currently by Julian Charrière. This is the most disturbing exhibit that I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to hundreds of museums - the exhibit messes with both your visual sense and plays an extremely disturbing sound; for people with sensory issues - it literally feels like hell. This is artwork brought me to my knees. To allow the general public to walk into that room without any warning is highly irresponsible and frankly, angered me.

The museum itself is lovely. However, I cannot say the same about the staff. The staff was tracking my family and me. I literally would catch them following us. I would walk from one gallery, and once we transferred to that other gallery, the other staff would pick us up and follow. It was not until I had to use my training to throw them off that they quit following me. I would study how they [staff] would follow certain people. You need to train your staff to at least be less conspicuous about following people. Some people know they are being followed. I avoided confrontation for the simple fact I did not want to cause a scene. I was told not to get close to the paintings. Okay, I understand as an artist myself, I know. I was studying the brush strokes, but after that, we would glance and keep it moving. So, your untrained staff would not approach us complaining.*** a tip if you have the description next to the painting or artifact in Times New Roman six font, it is tough to read, and a person must get next to the piece to read the description. Maybe think about putting a glass casing around the paintings if you are pressed about people getting two feet from a painting/artifact. Also, perhaps make a description away from the piece such as a stand a distance away so that people would not have to approach so close. The wires on the ground that keep people a foot away maybe put those around the wall and perhaps just everywhere. Such as to create a DMZ ***However, I did not see the staff tell the families with kids running around sculptures anything. It made it seem as if we were being targeted for a specific reason.Overall, we are glad we did not pay and avoided giving our donations, and we will be telling people about the experience. Especially the art community in our area and hopefully they [art community] will have a better experience than us but reading other comments. I see it is common for people to complain about the same thing.I recommend seeing the Crow Museum of Asian Arts. Even though it is not the size of the Dallas art museum, the staff were welcoming, and we gladly donated to them. We will never go back to the Dallas art museum. However, let us not talk about the artifacts. If you know what I am talking about, you will know what I mean.TRAIN YOUR STAFFIf you would like to reach out if you want some authentic leadership, I could tell the museum lacks that.

There are some interesting piece I had never seen anywhere else. The display of the entire museum is so artistic, the color of each collection room is unique and trendy. The flow of each section is so smooth and soothing, just makes me want to stay longer lose myself in these art works. They also have a section outdoors displaying sculptures, we spent about 3.5 hours in there and barely finished it. Just after this, had a guard wearing her mask off her nose inform me that my just turned three year old needed to mask or leave. When I told the front desk it’s awful you’ll kick patrons out for masking, but I’m told “it’s a different department” when I ask why they’re not reprimanding employees. My kids are missing out on experience of learning about history because they were harassed and followed by your employees. Very sad.

Its located in the Art District and is surrounded by other museums, so there is no shortage of things to do in the area. We were prepared to pay admission, but once we entered the museum, we found that there was no fee! There was so much to see inside. There were exhibits for pretty much every culture and country you can think of. They had exhibits for Egypt (where they have an actual mummy), Buddhist and Hindu art, African art, colonial America, classical art, Greek, Roman, French, Italian, Spanish, Japan, China, everything! The contemporary art section was particularly interesting, as there was a piece that shared my name (Bethany) that Ive attached a picture of. There was also a sculpture garden that we didnt have time to get to. The facilities were clean and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. I would not recommend this museum at all . The museum itself was nice, but the staff made me feel very uncomfortable to the point , I didn’t even enjoy any parts of the museum. You have to have your purse by your side , can’t be anywhere near your back at all. Was basically followed down to tell me I couldn’t have my purse on my back . It had to be in front or on my side when it was the small purse and other people had on backpacks . Then as soon as you get close to the painting a tiny bit , here come a rude staff member harassing you about being to close , which is understandable but they could be a little bit more friendly . Overall , I didn’t even go through the whole museum for the lack of feeling uncomfortable and I WILL not be back. GET BETTER STAFF!

Amazing art! But the staff were really rude and crazy strict. It was hot and crowded so I occasionally would pull my mask from my face to get some actual air and many members of the staff would come up to me right as I would do this and Rudely say “mask on.”Also I was standing a good distance away from all the art & at one point I was trying to show my friend what a sculpture was portraying to be. As I was pointing at the sculpture a lady walked up and said “step away from the painting, don’t touch any of the art.” My finger point was about 1 foot away from the sculpture. They even told me that since my tiny 6” backpack was “too big” that I would have to carry it with my hands by my side. So I had to hold my back pack the whole time and hope I didn’t hit anybody or any of the art with it because of how crowded it was in there.
