Review №1

This stepwell is part of the Jwalamata mandir complex. It is located inside a farmland, which has multiple private ownerships. There is no access road/ path to reach it as owner(s) of land do not want to disturb their agricultural practice. It is an arcuate brick structure and has use of Lakhori brick. The structure requires repairs. There is dumping of garbage; no maintenance and the water is in very poor quality. There is a devi statue installed inside on the walls of the vav with bangles and painted diya (symbolic of married women being here). According to the pandit, pilgrims and local people visit the temple on poornima and offer their vibhuti inside the stepwell.

Visited Oct 2021.This is one of three vavs in Dabhoi - the other two being Saptamukhi and Khadi - and all three are a bit difficult to get to. This is a rather simple vav so if you are looking for elaborate carvings or decorations youll be disappointed. But for people like me who like to see old vavs, especially those that havent been restored by the ASI, its worth visiting. I was there just after the monsoons so the water level was high I could only descend few steps. To get here you need to walk around Jwalamukhi Mandir, on the outside, that is, take the path to the other mandir behind it. then turn right and walk thru the fields, there is a path, clearly marked on Google Maps.See attached pics.
