Outstanding venue with super friendly chilled staff, amazing stock of games old and new, merchandise and multiple game and play events. On site cafe and bolted onto the Heart of Gaming arcade. What more could you want!

Absolutely amazing, they have all kinds of goods and items for both casual audiences but it really shines for more niche audiences and collecters. Arcade machines are plenty fun and worth trying out, casette tapes and floppy disks all around with general modern games on shelves in the centre. Model kits and books in the back are all really cool too along with clear influence from workers putting art prints and stickers of various media and franchises across the room (they even had vtuber stickers). Card games and the such also have their place with areas for games like magic and dnd. This place is great to shop and also great to come with friends, overall a fun time if your into it.

Ok so I LOVE this place! Its got every retro console and handheld gaming machine you can imagine. They have all sorts of relics from the past there . Very expensive for some of it...but thats how it is for retro. I love the shop. They also have a little role-playing dungeons and dragons bit there too

I always go in to have a look and some of the vintage games/consoles/collectibles they have are amazing. Staff are always ready to answer your questions too.

Pretty decent place with great customer service. Unfortunately they sold me a fake Pokémon platinum cartridge and that was not very good of them to do that. Other than that no complaints everything else I got from there was real and in decent condition.

Playnation Games is a retro games store that is located inside Whitgift Centre, it can be found in The Heart of Gaming store (at the entrance really).It has a good selection of games from Atari/NES/SNES/N64/Playstation/Dreamcast (and some other older games I couldnt recognize) up to the current generation. Consoles and games are reasonably priced.They also have a shelf of small selection of Manga, some Gundam Gunpla figures, and Pokémon cards. They have a space with tables which I believe they hold TCG tournaments and some D&D in.The owner is wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable. Id totally recommend coming here if youre in the area and interested in checking out some retro games or stock up on TCG cards and Gunpla figures.Note that I used Uber to get here, the location dropped me at the back parking lot of the Centre. You can find a door on the right hand side with stairs that directly drop you at the store. I took the long detour and got in from the Whitgift Centre.

Hey! Ex employee here! If youre looking for a job here this isnt the best place. My boss made me do heavy labour despite me being 15 and having a knee condition, didnt make us sign contracts, made me go up a steep hill with a trolley next to a tram station with personal items such as a matteress that blocked my vision which could of endangered my life. My Co-Workers were the only thing that really kept me there. Wouldnt reccomend working if youre a minor. You dont really get to make sales and you mostly just do unpaid extra manual labour. He also literally made me spend half the day tiling a floor instead of making sales, love being used to do manual tasks when he literally had hired a professional to do it anyways and got annoyed at me when me, a teenager with no experience with tiling, did it wrong. Not to mention he would get fustrated with me when I wouldnt understand instructions that werent clear despite me being very clear with me needing super clear instructions due to my autism.

Allure and promise of this apparent gaming heaven severely compromised by obstinate owner.The owner seems to take things personally when receiving feedback on what I can only describe as his tetchy, at best ambivalent manner and contempt for any customers who are returning faulty products. To the extent that I have no desire to ever visit this outlet again. Youre far better off sticking to the likes of Computer Exchange and certain other independent gaming retailers with their no quibble, personable approach.Arcade upstairs is only worth a visit if you really have not experienced the many home gaming consoles that have materialised over the years as the vast majority of the arcade-dedicated machines I saw on two occasions were inoperable. Steer clear and take your hard earned money elsewhere.

This shop will mug you off sold me a chipped xbox that broke after a week then sold me a zombie wiiu complete in the box but tried to sell me the game separately even though it was supposed to be in the box then today told me they are shut with the door open letting their mates in and out, never coming back never recommending this shop to anyone EVER there should be a no star option

Great place for gaming all different types of gaming upstairs downstairs you can play Pokemon cards or yu gi oh they sell cards and other gaming items it’s £10.00 to stay and play all day you can come and go as well so can pop out for lunch and come back .

Wow!!! My ten year old was after some Pokemon cards. Forbidden Planet kindly told us about this place because he was after singles. Not the sort of shop I would normally go in but honestly I thought it was great. Everyone was really friendly. Staff, customers and players alike. They were more than happy to share their knowledge and my son loved the place. Downstairs is general retro computer stuff whilst upstairs has tables for gamers and the cards. Really great vibe. Apparently every Saturday at 2pm they play Pokemon if they have the numbers. They also do events I believe. So, this will certainly feature in our future Croydon shopping trips.

Someone told me about this place saying that it has the old sckool games..well i thought i gotta check it out. And i was not dissapointed at all...i was almost salivating at seeing Street Fighter Daytona and Time Crisis. I havent played these for at least 10-15 years. Couldnt afford this stuff when i was a kid. The first time (about 2 weeks ago) I went upstairs to the gaming part of the building i was admittedly a bit put off as there were several teenagers playing a big screened game and others who seemed to know there stuff..i felt a bit conscious for me to come along and play a game only to loose almost immediately! ..but i had a good stroll around and was impressed with what was on offer. I knew i would be back. Went there a few days ago when it was quiet...which i liked ideally and had the best hour on above games...woooweee. i came out of there adrenlin pumping. I payed £5 for an hours play. You can also pay £10 for all day which is extremely good value. Its a done deal. They have complimented the place with really cool posters (takes me back to my Manga days). I think you maybe able to buy snacks as i saw folks eating fries on my first visit (afterall one must have fuel to kill off the badies) . The staff were really friendly. This should surely be a hit with not just teenagers but anyone into these types of games. I dont think anyone including myself are bothered about the basic furniture (as i heard a parent comment on) as we are there to have a great time.I have recently learned that i could buy the Sega Megadrive online for £60 which got me excited. Then i remembered that the downstairs part of the building sells anything old school ie playstation megadrive Nintendo and the games and more . I m gonna buy it from there as 1. i can see it in the flesh and asks questions and 2. i would like to support this establishment (this is one high street place to support rather than use the internet) I m excited I m gonna have this next week but i think i have changed my mind to getting playstation 2 ...One of the reviewers said there are rubbish games at this place. Obviously they dont understand that this place is doing something that you dont often see - offering old school/retro games for those who appreciate them (like myself). Wanted to spend a chunk of the day there with my other half for his birthday. Turned up at 10am which is apparently opening time. At 11am with zero sign of anyone opening up we gave up.

Please ignore the reviews stating the shop is never open, it was forcibly closed for a while and there was nothing the owner could do. I have experienced nothing but wonderful service here to the point where I have made this the first place I go to buy cards, games or other videogame/manga memorabilia. Cannot reccomend enough!

Rubbish variety of games, we did not have a good time. Half of the games weren’t working when we went. Quite sad, this could’ve had a great potential.

Now moved from the old Allders place into a cleaner, bigger and all round better unit - air con! level access! space to sit and chill! - Playnations been a first choice for second hand games for years and a staple of social times as well. Card games, huge range of Gunpla models, retro gaming for sale from Atari Jaguars to Xbox 360s, and relaxed, friendly staff whove answered every question Ive had (and I ask a lot).Theres even a Pokestop right outside from the old Kookai clock. Couldnt ask for more.Useful info - they work with but are separate to Heart of Gaming, who at the time of writing (beginning of August 2019) are still in the process of moving to the floor above. Fret not, there is a working lift! So: if you want to *buy* games, come here; if you want to *play* them, though, HoG are your people. Absolutely keep an eye on their Facebook pages for the latest info before visiting.

To wait 3-4weeks for a repair which was promised a 3days turn around MAX is not professional at all. John did a very poor customer service , did not even answered for my calls. When i went in person he always said the same excuse Its going to be ready Tomorrow . Of course it wasnt ! Never again

Absolutely atrocious, the phone was NEVER answered. (Having tried calling them for FOUR days).

Poor service & no real policy for faulty goods - bad attidude. I purchased a PS3 controller which worked for 4 days - On returning the item, the Manager/Owner claimed he didnt remember me (the shops not busy) so he asked for proof of purchase. I advised him that I didnt have the receipt to hand so I produced a bank statement. He advsied due to me having a statement rather the receipt we would not exchange but repair (2 day wait). I collected the fixed item (or what I thought was a fixed item) on using the repaired control, I noticed that 3 of the buttons didnt work - so I went back to the shop to be told (by the same person) I need my proof of purchase before he would do anything. Once again I was asked for proof of purchase (from the manager/owner). Once I provided it - this time he gave me a refund & offered no explanation why they had given me a faultyy control which had meant to be repaired --- STEER CLEAR

I absolutely love this shop. They have everything you want. From retro games and consoles to current modern games.The staff is wonderful and very happy to help and answer your queries. They also have a shop inside that fixed my Playstation 3 for almost nothing when Playstation wanted to charge me £90. I dont mind taking the train to Clapham Junction to this shop because it is worth it.

Beautiful retro shop that is well worth the trip to get from central London to the more remote suburbs. The staff is super friendly, the quantity and quality of what you can find is overwhelming, all very interesting and at very good prices. A must for all retro lovers.
