This cafe is an all rounder in my opinion. Amazing cafe food, the view and the set up is just excellent. I must give you heads up on their exclusivity though, you can’t just land their expecting a table because this place is in high demand amongst locals and tourists. So call in advance and make reservations. Enjoy, because I really did :)

Went looking for Café Diem because we had heard a lot about it. The pasta is made homemade and delicious. The safety measures are meticulous. They sanitise tables and chairs before they let you in. It takes time but very safe and clean. They work only on reservation so they only take 50% capacity for indoor seating. When we went it was raining so the outdoor seating area was closed. Must visit fir pizzas and their desserts.

Location : Its quite easy to locate, ample parking place available. Nestled away in seclusion with stunning views.Ambiance : Oh boy! Was I taken aback. Just mind blowing. Have been to umpteen no of cafes / restaurants, but nothing even comes close to this. Even the walk to the entrance is just so beautiful. The place was so refreshing on the eyes & it just shows how much care, thought process & work was involved to give us such an experience. From the furniture to the walls, to the cutlery + water bottle + even the cloth, had a special touch to it. And trust me, am not one for ambiance. I care only about the food, but this was the affect this place had on me. We were seated inside, as it was raining outside so could not get the amazing view but nevertheless mind-blowing.Food : The main highlight. We started off with tomato soup & on the recommendation of the owner, Mrs. Radhika we tried the Pumpkin soup as well! Just too good. If there is any place I would pumpkin soup again, its here & here only. Post soup we had the cheese garlic bread & falafel platter. The garlic bread was spendid, the bread fresh & soft. The main course, we left it on them itself to give us the best, so we were served a Mediterranean pizza & ravioli pasta if I remember correctly! The sun dried tomatoes on the pizza & olive sauce in the pasta, these two just made the already perfect food even better! Deserts we had the pomegranate cheese cake (It couldnt be more softer) and ice cream(something related to sandesh & jaggery), just awesome. The closing of this spectacular meal had to be done with piping hot filter coffee in the cold weather!Cost : Its a bit, slight bit on a higher side. A meal for four of us costed over 3k, but again trust me it was totally worth it. For the food, the experience & ambince offered it was worth every ruppee spent. They made us feel at home, spoke to us, made us comfortable & gave us an amazing experience.Overall, anyone visiting Ooty / Conoor I would highly recommend this place! Just go here & you wont be disappointed.P.S : Do book an appointment please well in advance.Sorry for the photos, didnt want to waste much time of this experience over the phone :)

I would say my experience was pathetic at this place. The most overrated place I have ever been to. Last time when we went there, they said that they are jam-packed and theres no room for more bookings but finally when we got a table there, it was all vacant. Secondly, the guy who takes order keeps on standing on the head and one becomes really conscious and has to order in a hurry. This time when we went there, it was 11 A.M and again they had this tantrum of being jam-packed, which was a white lie. Again the cafe was all vacant. The serviettes were dirty with something spilled over them, the cafe mocha was served in a cup which was stained due to the spillage. The food is overpriced as per the quality and taste. Overall I had a terrible experience.

Cafe Diem is one of the few places that I feel completely safe during this pandemic. Radhika and her team take the upmost precaution to ensure everyones safety, including staff with proper PPE, a hand sanitizing station, temperature checks, and the enforcement of everyone wearing masks. As someone who lives in Coonoor, I get upset by the idea of tourists thinking they are somehow above these rules. And now, the menu: the food is absolutely incredible. As a lifelong vegetarian, this is one of the few places in the country where I can get both a veg meal and a Western one. While I love Indian food from across the country, my palette enjoys the subtleness of European/North America cuisine once in a while. Of particular note: The Cafe Diem salads and the cheesecake are the best you will eat ever, anywhere. Highly recommended!

First of all, the place is BEAUTIFUL! Its adjacent to the owners residence, which is beautiful in itself. The ambience, service, taste, everything is superb. One may find the prices to be on the higher side, but its all worth it. The falafel platter, Mediterranean pizza and the cheesecake, all are scrumptious. The customer service is excellent. They even served slices of their new BBQ sauce pizza, free of cost. The cheesecake is to die for! The owner, Radhika came in for a little chat, which adds to the overall experience and customer satisfaction. Poor hospitality and trying to create too much hype. We had booked our table at 4 PM but reached the cafe at 3:30PM. They made us to wait outside saying there is no vacant table. Even for using the restroom their staff had to call the manager get permission to send us inside before our Appointment. But when we went inside the cafe was literally empty with only one table occupied.Too much of hype not worth dining there. Very expensive and very less quantity. They don’t even provide tax bill after charging Rs 400 - 600 per dish.

However, my friends who had also heard about it and checked on Instagram convinced me to go with them. Thank God I went !The food was delicious and full of flavours. The salads were extra ordinary and the desserts are amazing. We had the savoury spinach tart, pizza, lasagna and ice creams. The chocolate mousse was too good. A lovely cosy chic place with an international vibe and cuisine. The decor, ambience and knick knacks has a personal touch of the owner. The owner is hands-on in the cafe from 9am to 6pm. The strictly vegetarian menu is delightfully tasty and more than makes up for the lack of non-veg fare and wines and spirits. Carefully selected curios, stained glass, colored glass (with apron - a highlight) water bottles, each table decorated with unique table mats, one of kind salt and pepper dispensers, spic and span washroom, a fireplace in the center of the cafe giving a feeling of warmth and welcome. Last but not the least an unhindered and beautiful view of the nilgiri mountains.

A delightful experienceCafe Diem.....how to put in words the unique experience of warmth ,comfort, beauty and satiation all wrapped in few hours of relishing gourmet food and soaking in a hilltop cafes ambiance in the Nilgiris!!!! Created and lovingly nurtured by Its owner Radhika, it carries the unique stamp of a fun loving, much traveled creative being, lover of nature, places and people . The decor, the curios, the menu cards and of course the multi layered menu itself speaks out to you.. come visit, stay. Even the well dressed up water jars and bottles seem to say come again, soon. And that is what we did during our short stay in Coonoor. We enjoyed lunches and brunches on three consecutive days trying to demolish the menu...but the amazing variety still beckons. The fresh crunchy salads, fresh soups, pizzas, pastas, risotto, bruschetta were all unique in taste, flavor, color...doing justice to Greek and Italian cuisine. The fresh ingredients sourced by Radhika and her team from far and wide ( including Kolkata) lent themselves to original recipes created by the cafe and are to die for. Who can forget the nolen gur ice cream or the mirchi ice cream or the various cheeses on gourmet salads!Bottom line...have to go back again and again

It should come as no surprise to anyone stepping into Café Diem to discover that its owner and the brain behind arguably the best eatery in Coonoor (or miles outside of it, for that matter), has spent over 25 years in the travel hospitality industry. From the time one steps in, every element that meets our 5 senses, tangible or otherwise, speaks of aesthetics, individuality and the finest in hospitality service.Greeting you at the entrance to the café is a rustic blackboard announcing the Day’s Specials. Handwritten in chalk it reminded me of lazy days spent ambling along cobblestoned lanes in quaint European towns, keenly inspecting every such board placed outside cafes for their specials of the day.The café itself is like entering a “Swiss-chalet-meets-the-rest-of-the-world”. High pinewood sloping ceilings swoop down to large picture windows overlooking a spacious open deck offering a stunning view of the hills and valley. Inside, no table setting looks alike. I learnt from Radhika Shastry, proprietor and owner, that even individual cruet sets have been handpicked by her on her numerous travels abroad and no two look the same. Neither do the tables and chairs. An eclectic collection indeed! We were greeted by her well-trained and impeccably mannered staff and offered a table next to the coveted window. What was handed to me next just blew me away. Turns out the menu is a hand painted illustrated depiction of the café exactly the way one sees it! What made it even more unique is that it was apparently the handiwork of one of her patrons who was inspired enough to translate the ambience on paper, leading to the idea of creating a menu out of it!We opted for their popular Pumpkin Coconut soup. Had read great reviews about this one and it did not disappoint. The perfect creamy combo of roasted pumpkin and coconut milk blended to perfection. This was followed by a Three Cheese Pizza on a sourdough base. Absolutely delightful amalgamation of blue cheese, mascarpone and feta with each distinctive characteristic coming together flavorfully. While we should have stopped right there I could not help but want to try out the Aglio-e-Olio which most Indian restaurants ruin by overcooking the pasta or making it saucy (sacrilege!). Luckily Café Diem got it on point with just the right amount of garlic, olive oil and chilli flakes without overdoing the assault on the palate. Bursting at the seams by now, we went safe on dessert with a cheesecake. Which was a pity really, because their desserts menu is as eclectic as their décor, ranging from panna cotta to a never-heard-of nolen gur ice cream! Having scraped the bottom of the dish I made a mental note to return soon enough for just desserts and a hot chocolate. This had been a classy meal in a classy setting.A shout out to the staff of Café Diem and to Radhika herself. I am sure it can be challenging to find trained staff in the Nilgiris for a café such as hers serving the finest of European cuisine. Yet not once did I find them lacking in etiquette or being ill informed about the nuances of the fare. Besides, Radhika makes it a point to visit each table to help make the right choice of order. And it is this personal involvement I am guessing that sets her establishment apart from the joe around the block. All in all a winner when it comes to location, view, ambience, cuisine and service. Just one word of warning – be armed with a prior booking to avoid disappointment as the place gets pre-booked well in advance. And don’t be dejected. There’s always a next time. Café Diem is here to stay.

Cafe Diem is the go to restaurant if you love Pizza, Pasta and Desserts. The best thing is that, it is Vegetarian. It has a cozy ambiance and the view from the location is breath taking. Radhika (owner) and her team take care of their guests very well and adhere to strict covid norms.

I loved the ambience, the view, and the food. And of course not to forget the warmth extended by Ms. Radhika. If you are in Connor or in ooty, it is a must place to visit. Give a call, and make your bookings, so that you are not Missing out the best cafe at Connor. ☺☺☺

Too pricey and over hyped. Portions are not that great and the drive also is unpleasant. And its busy because it merely has 10 tables. Lol.

Located in the middle of nowhere, this quaint cafe provides the best food in Coonoor. The pizza, tarts, pumpkin coconut soup were excellent. Apart from being artistically handcrafted, Cafe Diem gives some stunning vistas of the Nilgiris.

The ingredients were very good. However, seasoning to Indian palette was an issue in couple of dishes. We ordered:. Pumpkin soup, veggie platter, watermelon-mint and Apple-palmogrenate juices, Orange chestnut salad, Ratatouille pizza and fettuccine with red sauce pasta. Dessert to be decided. Bit too much for three. Bill at 3k was quite ok. Orange chestnut salad was a standout dish. Veg platter was fine - it was like deconstructed Falafal. Ratatouille pizza was too bland and so was the pasta. Pasta sauce was good. Book a table and note timings. 11 am to 6 pm. Wednesdays closed.

For wholesome delicious soups, fresh crunchy salads, delightful savoury and sweet tarts, fresh fruit cakes and pastas with authentic sauces do visit Café Diem in the Nilgiris. A vegetarian café that delights the non vegetarians too😀

Nothing great about the place... Especially if you are from any city. The food is quite ordinary... Oh yes.. its only vegetarian.. the desserts are decent. Though all covid protocols are followed on the face of it... Its too much of a constricted space to feel safe... Especially considering non locals find thier way here most. The view is as good as you have in any place in the Nilgiris. The terrace is actually a very tiny space. Dont bother is the bottom line...What is missing most is the warmth which you get used to in the Nilgiris... Going here is a little like going to your school Headmistress house for lunch...

Cafe Diem is a rare find! This unique restaurant, nestled in the gorgeous Nilgiris hills, about 4-5km from Coonoor town, has a brilliantly curated menu specialising in continental, Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. Among their soups, the pumpkin coconut is my favourite, although the thick mushroom soup is also very soothing in the winters. They have the traditional Italian - thin crust pizzas, pastas - making the restaurant very kid friendly, at the same time has exotic gourmet versions that appeal to adults (the goat cheese, fig, honey & chilli oil pizza is to die for!). They also have sandwiches, tarts, and an amazing dessert menu.More than anything, the service and the view from the restaurant makes the experience even better. The owner always makes the time to interact with all the guests, helping pick from the menu, learn about the area etc. We also love to pre-order - food is ready when you get to the restaurant! You must reserve in advance, so you ensure you get a table!
