Off the main road with outside seating you have this amazing fried chicken place. Since I was alone I decided to sit at the bar and order food. It was a very quiet Sunday.The bar tender was very attentive and provided recommendations. I had the French fries (dining sauce is amazing). The fried chicken sandwich which was a nice size full of flavor and that spicy mayo packs the extra kick. My only suggestion is to toast the bread for that extra texture. The corn bread skillet, honestly dont remember what they called it but it was out of this world.I would highly recommend this place and will be back!!

I like to go an try new places all the time and make sure I hit my basics to test if I will come back with someone for a full review. I decided to stop into The Eagle on the recommendation of a good foodie friend. It wasnt quite late enough for me to have a heavy dish but Apps and a drink is always a safe bet. I ordered a High Street Crush cocktail with the Pimento Cheese Plate accompanied by the Sausage and Kale Dip. The drink was refreshing as the grapefruit and lemon juice settle the Apersol and Miller Highlife. The dip was spicy but not too bad at all. I enjoyed the cheese plate the most as it offered many flavor combinations based on how and what you mixed. Overall The Eagle gets my vote on a return visit to try something else exquisite!#ScotchWithE

My family and I were in for dinner tonight, and it was amazing! Our server Maddie was so friendly and went above and beyond for us, we’ll definitely be back in to have her again. Food was fantastic, service was even better!

Perfect southern comfort food. Everything was delicious and comparison to New Orleans.. even down to the Bloody Mary! Portions are shareable and environment is warm and inviting. Servers are also very sweet! I’ll keep it short - eat here! You won’t regret it.

My husband and I went here for the first time and had an AMAZING experience! Highly recommend if you enjoy well seasoned good! Terrific food, tasty drinks, and most importantly fabulous service. Shout out to Craig and Travis for the wonderful service! We are very picky when it comes to food and typically when food is dry or under seasoned, we use sauces. No SAUCES needed! The chicken was moist and the breading seasoned. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend this place if you haven’t tried it or are in town visiting Columbus!

My friend Justin (a regular here 🤣) highly recommended I check out this place and I can see why! The fries and mac and cheese were honestly my favorite parts. 😍 I love shoestring fries so much and the aioli sauce slapped, too. I ordered the chicken sandwich (and opted out of the coleslaw) and I enjoyed the sandwich but it wasnt -spectacular- in my opinion. The flavor of the chicken wasnt entirely there for me and the spicy mayo was possibly what overpowered the chicken. If I were to reorder that sandwich, I would get it without the spicy mayo. Other than that, my husband ordered the fried chicken BLT and he said the jalapeño relish was 🔥 and spicy mustard was really good. Overall, we both agreed the fries were amazing and the mac and cheese was definitely worth going there. We would 100% go again. 😋

The fried chicken is very good and the mac and cheese is awesome. But, how did you manage to make mashed potatoes that are somehow runny and lumpy at the same time with no flavor at all? You need to severally up your potato game and the biscuits need work too, just dry flour balls with no flavor. Oh, and hold back on the vinegar. The collard greens and coleslaw just taste like vinegar, a little goes a long way. The service is always good, and the atmosphere is nice.

First thing to know is this place is indulgent southern American style comfort food and man it’s tasty. We shared the chicken and slaw fried sandwich, homage crusty mac, homemade biscuits and blackberry jam, and the brisket chili with cornbread croutons. Pair that with some bloody marys and HEAVEN... So the thing is I don’t review places like a bourgeois food critic where almost no plate can satisfy my standards. I expect some things will be imperfect, and so what. However maybe my taste for savory dishes blinds me but I inhaled this food like no other. The chicken was a little dry that’s about it, maybe the chili wasn’t from today’s fresh pot but it was full of flavor without a doubt.

I just had life-changing fried chicken and sides at The Eagle in Columbus, Ohio. An amazing restaurant/bar with friendly folks. Our server Maddie was absolutely fantastic. She was funny, friendly, and offered up great suggestions from the menu. The chicken was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor (its a must). Our sides were the biscuits, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese. All of them were fantastic. The blackberry jam that came with the biscuits deserves a shout out on its own. Maddie was an amazing server and completed the experience. All I can say after all this is...Go Blue! (seriously dont pass this place up.)

Even though it was a busy Saturday night, we were still seated within 15 minutes. They offer family style seating here, so be prepared to sit in a booth with another party. With that being said, you will have more than enough room to yourself. They have a nice selection of beer and you can’t go wrong with fried chicken! The BLT was filling and tasty. The Mac n cheese is to die for! If you’re looking for a fun place to scratch your fried chicken itch, this is definitely a great option though the parking situation isn’t ideal but that’s to be expected in the short north!

ALWAYS forget about this place. Took my kid and we loved it. A little tip from the bartender, instead of getting two 1/4 chicken orders just pay $4 more and get the 1/2 chicken. Much better deal. The fries, awesome. Mac-n-cheese, awesome and love the spicy syrup. Plenty of food. Could easily feed 3 maybe even 4 people. Only $34 including 2 drinks. Not bad at ALL.

Went here for the first time last night. It was cool, to be short and simple. The food was pretty good. Ive had better southern style food, but this place is definitely top 5. Depending how hungry you are you or if youre a bigger eater, you could eat their portions by yourself. My wife and I shared our meal and still had food to take home. Overall it was a good experience.

I used to live in Columbus. I wish you were around then. Best chicken Ive had in a long time. The drinks were awesome. Next time Im in town, this is my go to. We loved our server Craig.

Legendary and award winning fried chicken? Not really sure about what. It’s a cool spot, really open dining room with a big bar, good local taps. But i came for the fried chicken. When I think of fried chicken I think of that super crispy crust, not what I got, yea it’s crisp and plenty of flavor. But where’s the texture! The price is pretty good for that location. The hot chicken takeover in the market is a better bet for fried chicken in the area in my opinion.

Had one of their grilled cheese sandwiches a year ago while in town for the Arnold Classic, and then spent the past year dreaming about being back in Columbus for the Arnold this year, just so we could go have another grilled cheese! It was so good!! The apples add a unique touch that make whats usually a simple sandwich into something truly special. The Mac and cheese was delicious too. It was so creamy! Im looking forward to getting my grilled cheese fix next year.

The mac and cheese was great. Fries had a strange seasoning, we did not enjoy them or the biscuits. The chicken was better than expected. A whole fried chicken for 20 bucks is a steal. Great patio. Order 2 drinks, we waited a long time for refills.

The service was awesome from the ordering to the carryout and the food was top notch as always. I got my husband a gift card for his bday and he loved it. Just swung by for some drinks to cool off from a hot afternoon walk. The place caught our eye because of the wide open patio and seating area... it just looked relaxing from the street. We ordered drinks, the server was friendly and pretty attentive making sure we didnt change our mind and want to order food. The interior has a bar with surround seating, booths around the walls and a couple of large chief tables too.

This was some excellent food ! We are from Dayton enjoying Vday and this place came highly recommended! The only reason I didn’t get 5 stars is because I wish they had more dessert options otherwise we got the best fried chicken ever, Mac and cheese, sweet potato , collards , cornbread and kale and sausage dip w/chips ! Everything tasted so immaculate ! We made a reservation as soon as we arrived they were ready to seat us . Parking was a nightmare but the garage isn’t very far from the restaurant we loved the whole ambiance the only thing we disliked was the half square round table whatever you wanna call it was very uncomfortable and small to sit because we are full figured however because we seen the restaurant was packed next time I will call ahead for additional seating accommodations will return again !

Probably the best fried chicken you will eat this year if not in your life! I didnt get a picture till we had eaten most of it, it was that good! We got a verity of sides and they were great as well. Spring for the mixed drinks ...theyre totally worth it!

Blackened shrimp pboy was good, so was the fried chicken sandwich. The manager started our order but we did not get any attention from the bartenders, we had to wait for the manger to come around to take our order. He acknowledged it and compensated us.

I devoured a Sumptuous and succulent chicken sandwich with a delectable side of spoon bread. Once finished I proceeded to wash the meal down with a thirst quenching stout. Please do yourself a favor and stop by for a meal, it’s worth its weight in gold.

Went in for weekday lunch; sat right away, and greeted within the first minute.The menu has a variety without being extensive.Cant recommend the Mac and Cheese enough, its to die for.Also ordered the blackened shrimp Po boy which was both delicious and filling. Pretty good coleslaw as well.Happy Hour kicks in from 3 to 6 so couldnt help but take the mule. It was large and refreshing with little apples for garnish.Ill be coming back to try their fried chicken as soon as I can.

Perfect patio for people watching. Bartenders and servers were very friendly and helpful. Had some picky drinkers in my group and the bartender was able to find something everyone would like🙌he made the drinks quickly and they were deliscious! Prices arent bad either.

I had made a trip here last Saturday, I was not too impressed. The menu is pretty limited. The fried chicken was comparable to the leading brand of boxed & frozen fried chicken - small, dry and not much flavor. The greens & fries were good as was the service. The table could use a cleaning as the crack was full of dirt. Was it terrible? No. Would I go back? Probably not.

5 Stars isnt enough to describe our experience at The Eagle Short North!!! From the greeting at the door, to the table service and the food...OMG...We have found our new place for COMFORT FOOD!! We ordered the Brown Sugar Bacon, Quarter Dark Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Collards, Sweet Potato Crock and Spoon Bread. Our server John was absolutely amazing and his suggestions were totally only point!! I can truly say, this means finger lickin good!!

A group of 3 of us went in on Saturday night and the hostess who sat us didn’t bother to tell the server she had sat him outside, so we waited 10 minutes for service. The food was amazing! It was chilly outside and the heaters weren’t on, so we asked if we could move out party inside and also add an additional 4 people to our group. The bartender was so nice about it and was happy to accommodate it. The manager stomped around and got rude with the bartender in front of us. We had to sit two at a table away from the bar and the rest at the end of the bar, no big deal. But the same manager came over to clean the table that had left next to where two of had to be seated. The manager pushed the partition on to us and when we held the wooden piece up to prevent any further hitting, the manager leaned her head over and blamed us. She never apologized for hitting anyone with it, then proceeded to move it further in to our table and walk away. NEVER have I ever had a manager act so rude and inconsiderate to a patron. Her attitude was so inappropriate and not something I would have expected, given that most of the staff was kind and accommodating. The second bartender behind the bar closed out my bill, to which I had only bought one beer, she placed several others on my bill and just ran my card without asking and then when I brought the issue up to her, she apologized but then thanked me for just paying it. I shouldn’t have had to pay for anything that wasn’t mine. When I addressed these issues with Kristen the other manager, all she did was apologize. No changes were made to my bill, nothing changed. Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. If you want to eat the food, I highly recommend getting it to go and not sitting at the restaurant itself. Terrible service and management.

Cant believe it took me so long to give this place a try! Great food! Normally not big on French fries, but the herbs dip made me a pig for them! Awesome beer menu with a good variety of beer styles. Love the horseshoe seating arrangement too; keeps your table personal and private from other groups...definitey will be coming back to try the rest of the menu and have fun on the patio when its warmer!!

Really good chicken and collared greens side. Unfortunately good food only goes so far. Sat at the bar and it was slow at best, never refilled my water, asked me if I wanted another drink, or how was my food. Overall nice place, but they need to have another bartender if they really want a full service bar.

Fantastic old school authentic southern food. Biscuits, tots, bacon apps all on point. Collard greens and cheesy grits sides could be their own meal. Fried chicken is the best in Columbus. Ironic as the restaurant is based in Cincinnati. Spooned cornbread is a must. Moscow mule huge and a great twist on presentation. Great service. Will be back.

This place has a pretty nice ambiance and the wait staff is very friendly. Being from the south though I wasnt falling out of my seat for most of the menu items but overall things were good.The fried chicken was okay but I feel like it could have used a little more seasoning and been a little juicer. I tried a bite of my friends chicken sandwich and that was really good even though I am not usually a fan of cole slaw so I will probably get that the next time Im here since Im sure I will be back.I like that the sides are big enough to share with friends but it would be nice if there was some sort of combo in case you are a solo diner like I usually am. The sweet potato croc (yams) were not quite as sweet as I would have liked, but it was really cute with the roasted marshmallows. The mac & cheese is delicious though!The patio is really nice especially in the summer. I ordered an Eagle iced tea to drink, it was very lemony and more bitter than I usually expect from a traditional long island, but they were nice about it and exchanged it for something else. The sweet tea was also okay but definitely wont give you diabetes like it does in the south lol.

Ive been here with my friends twice now and this easily one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. The fried chicken is very flavorful and tender. I would easily rank it among the best I have ever had (and I have eaten a lot of fried chicken). The sides are also very good, albeit a bit pricey. I have tried the mac and cheese, cornbread, and biscuits and all of them have been outstanding. The service has been great both times. It is a shame that I am graduating soon because I wish I could have more chances to eat here!

Not bad little joint. The beer selection is decent. Food was OK, we had an appetizer. Considering we just had dinner somewhere else and we were going for a little night cap.Staff was decent they were more about slinging drinks out than any type of corner baring customers. The clientele ranged from college kids to middle aged adults from all walks of life so that was good, this place didnt feel homogenized at all. Not really a kid friendly place, I could possibly bring my kids here but it would be rough.Id say give it a try at least for a night cap if you are in the area, not sure I would recommend you going out of your way to stop in here. But none the less if you are close stop in and try it.

Great place to grab a bite to eat or one of the many different kinds of beers. The menu is simple but what they do they have mastered. The chicken is amazing with a batter that is part crispy and part magic. The cornbread is moist throughout and to finish the sweet potatoes are almost sweet enough to be a dessert. Would recommend.

Went to this place for lunch while visiting family in Columbus. We sat outside which I highly recommend if the weather is nice, they let us have our dog with us at the table and even brought her a water bowl. I got the Fried Chicken Sandwich, it was amazing! The salads and sides that we got were all amazing too! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is craving fried chicken, it doesn’t get much better than this.

I had the shrimp po boy and mac and cheese. They were both delicious. I was really impressed with the shrimp po boy.

Went here with a friend this Saturday night, and had to wait awhile for a drink. We understand that alcohol is to stop at 10, so we wanted to get two drinks each, but was told that we could not, due to policy. Was told that there is a limit, but that we could get another one if we finish the beers we had before 10 oclock(mind you its 5 min. Before 10). This makes no sense, what is the difference between getting two beers now, and getting another one after we finish the first one...its still the same amount of beer. The restaurant is listed as closing at 11 on Saturdays, of course with alcohol stopping at 10. Luckily one of the bartenders allowed us to get another beer, at the very last minute, after waving her down. We really wanted fries, while we finish are beers, since they were staying open till 11. We were told that we had to get it to-go, which makes no sense. If were allowed to sit here and drink, why cant we eat an order of fries while we drink? We left around 10:30p.m., and literally couldve eaten the one order of fries by the time we left. I know this seems like a petty review, but its the little things that can make or break a guest experience. Just a little feedback for the future.

The Sloppy Joe and Chicken Sandwich was delicious! I recommend those for entrees. I also liked their mac and cheese, but it is like every other mac and cheese dish out there, and it was a little dry. Their Spoon Bread is also yummy!The prices for these dishes are a bit on the higher end, so if youre on a budget, this is not the place to go.This is a great place for groups and families. I enjoyed their cozy atmosphere and routy night life. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating.

Terrible service, the chicken was undercooked when we said something the lady argued with us. The young man that brought our food tossed my plate at me and through napkins that landed in my food. Cincinnati, Ohio The Eagle was much better. Will never be back to this location. Was never offered anything other then they remade the chicken.

This place has amazing food!!!! Put it on your list of places you must go when visiting Columbus! It’s in a great walkable area with other locally owned shops that you can enjoy so you can easily make an afternoon out of it. My friends and I went for lunch and as you can see in the picture we ate very well! They are known for their chicken so we all got chicken sandwiches which were so good (better than Popeyes 😂) and the sides we tried were the mashed potatoes, skillet corn bread, mac n cheese and the sweet potato soufflé. We loved everything and they have great drinks also! Another thing to note is the service was quite fast, we didn’t wait long at all for our meal and everything came out hot and fresh!!

All the food Ive had at the Eagle has been super tasty. The stand out for me is their fruit preserves the apricot one served with their grilled cheese and the berry preserve on their biscuts is amazing. If they bottled them I would certainly buy them, but if not I will continue coming back. ☺️
