Have you seen up-close the Shivering Man?A trip to the Yarra Valley is not complete until you make a short (or not so short) stop at the Coldstream Brewery. The brewery is located on Marroondah Highway, Coldstream, the gateway to the Yarra Valley so youll definitely wont miss it.It took these guys many years to set it up, in what used to be a wool store. The Shivering Man, that takes pride in all their bottles, can be seen large and mighty at the roof of the brewery.In our quest for the best parma in Yarra Valley, we ended up here and, boy, were we happy. Exactly what youd expect from a great parma, it is served with a delicious and juicy breaded chicken breast covered in tomato sauce and a blend of different cheeses. A side of beatifully golden fries could not be absent from a classic such as this.The pumpkin pizza, calamari and truffle fries are not to be missed here. Indeed, if you can, order two bowls of the fries - they are sooo good - especially with the amount of truffle cheese that they are served with.We cannot wait to return whenever we visit the Yarra Valley. Just remember to appoint a designated driver - you really want to try as much as beer as there is here. TIP: the mix of Pear and Apple Cider can only be found at the brewery itself so make sure you try that. It’s delish!

Best Nachos in a long time, gourmet Nachos even. Great 6 beer tastings, and the Pale was great, service and staff was amazing, well priced! Will be back.

Nice idea to have a smaller tasting paddle so you dont waste beer on ones you dont like. The pale ale is the best for me. The girlfriend liked the porter. Friendly bar staff

We had a lovely evening at the brewery last night! The service was attentive, prompt and friendly! We were seated in a more quiet area of the restaurant as I requested, which was awesome. The food was amazing! It is something to celebrate when you get a steak as you ordered. Our medium to rare porterhouse was cooked to perfection and was tender and juicy! My thai inspired barramundi was such a creative dish on a bed of cauliflower rice. It was so tasty that I would describe it as a gastronomic melody on my taste buds! And all this cooked by the 20 year old Sous-chef! Kudos to you for the exemplary effort! You have a great career ahead of you! Thank you to Carly and the rest of the staff for a fabulous evening! We look forward to returning.

Took some friends who wanted to try some locally made beer after a lovely trip to the yarra valley wineries. Oh did we come across the most unfriendly and almost rude service? We sure did. A beer flight was plonked in front of us with no explanation of what each beer was. We had to work it out ourselves.The ciders were not too bad.Will I go there again? Not in a hurry.

A bit of rustic charm in Coldstream.A really nice atmosphere with a good selection of options for all tastes on the menu that fits nicely with their own brewery offerings of beers and ciders.

Cold beer and killer Parma!

Fantastic meal. Ordered dips and bread, garlic pizza, spicy calamari, and mini pork sliders for entree. All were delicious and were eaten with gusto. Mains came out hot and quickly. My rare porterhouse was the best one I’ve had in a very long time (with bourbon maple sauce.)The Parma was huge , the other steaks cooked perfect and truffle fries are god like. Dessert was ordered too. Death by chocolate, trio of sorbets and an affogato all of which were amazing and very moorish (though if I had of eaten any more I would have needed a nap at the table). Thankyou to the awesome Chefs for a really delicious dinner! The bar staff are friendly and lovely (Thankyou to Hayley for three of the BEST cocktails...I highly recommend the Fuzzy Leprechaun) and the wait staff (Thankyou to Bert and Ben) are just the loveliest people! And Thankyou to Jaime for her recommendations! You guys rock Do yourselves a favour and book with this establishment! You won’t be disappointed.

Could not fault! The place itself is super cute and has a great vibe to it! The drinks were delicious and icy cold and all prices were very reasonable for a brewery. The service was the best Ive had in a long time with super friendly staff! And the food... was outstanding! We had the Chicken Burger, Chicken Parma and Steak and all were fantastic! We will definitely be recommending to friends and for sure well be back soon! 10/10

My partner and I had just driven 8 hrs + from Sydney on our way to Mt Dandenong and thought we would pull in for a beer and a quick meal as we both had not eaten all day on the road and almost at our destination.I ordered a couple of drinks and paid for 2 meals. 2 more drinks and over 45 minutes later still had not received our meal? So went and checked what was happening,,,, only to be informed after another short wait that in fact they had no order and nothing was in their system even though it had been paid for etc.So what can I say.?Bloody awful, no apology, no can we express make it and here is a complimentary drink for our complete stuff up... Nothing! Here is your refund.So feeling really hungry and very disappointed we left. Big waste of time.My only upside would be to say the beers and apple n pear cider where actually excellent. But everything else was v poor. Place seemed a bit grubby and tables sticky and staff a bit careless both in manour and in practice.Do not recommend.

My wife and I came in for lunch and the food was amazing, we had dips for entree and fish and chips for mains. What was even better though was the service from our waitress.She was attentive, extremely friendly while also professional, had answers to all our questions and made us feel welcome.Left with 2 mix 6 packs and cant wait to come back.

For a busy night the service was still excellent. Waiters checked to make sure we were enjoying the night, and the food was incredible.

Came for the food, stayed for the early naughties alt-rock.Nice casual pub food - pulled pork parma was excellent, pizza suffered from some average ingredients (bacon that was basically just fat) but was still perfectly enjoyable.

Wow... such inconsistencies in the reviews here. Wife and I stopped by for a quick bite and decided for the tasting paddle as well around 3pm. Yes some frequent locals do get a faster response by the staff but it is understood.Crafted beers were good - try the czech or golden ale & apple cider is better than the pear in our opinion.Highlights were the margherita pizza (the dough was done well) and the service by the young lady in the front. well done!I guess if the restaurant has issues with the particular male servers, it should be handled promptly to retain the good brand. best of luck!

Checz pilsner was the bees knees, but they have changed the recipe. Asked the person working if they had changed the recipe in the last 2 years at all and he confirmed that they hadnt. Not only was it an $80 slab, but the recipie had definitely changed. Very dissapointed. Clueless staff and all the other beers on tap were rubbish too. Very poor form.

Popped in for a bite and a beer... Mightve been the best decision Ive ever made in my life. The only thing better than the beer was the fantastic team running the show, never have I gone to a bar/restaurant with such a friendly, relaxed and passionate group of mates that not only do their job well, but do it with confidence and knowledge to back it up.Might have to make the drive every weekend just to fill my Squealer and say hi 😂

Staff are very friendly, food is great for a pub/style menu also portions are surprisingly big, the beer is amazing too.The setting/ decoration is very tasteful and the music is absolutely killer, I had to compliment then on that. Beautifully located brewery with nice beers and decent food. Somewhat disappointingly their tasting paddle only included their core range and could only taste one of their premium beers (Shawn of the Red and it was lovely too). The food was nice too, especially the calamari with spicy aioli - yummy - the Brewery Burger was a bit forgettable, edible but without anything special about it. Busy and fun with attentive staff. Got myself a long sleeve tee and will be happy wearing it and telling everyone how mich I enjoyed it. Recommended.

Bought $12 House chips with rosemary and we got undercooked floury frozen packet chips.And we had to get chips because there were little other vegan options.

Nice place built next to a horrible main road - would be so serene without the aural traffic pollution. Perfect for watching the supercars head home to Toorak from the Black Spur drive.

Just dropped in spare of the moment and although fully booked staff found us a comfy seat at the bar. Calabrese salami pizza washed down with a Pale Ale! Our barmaid was lovely and we were certainly well looked after. Great experience 👍

Went there had steak with bourbon maple sauce and chicken Parma with pulled pork. Drinks two cider Steins perfect will be back. Took home two Coldstream Stein glasses 10 bucks each bonus and a case of cider. Perfect night.

Apple cider was fantastic, refreshing and not too sweet. Food was delicious. There was a little confusion with the order but it was fixed quickly.

Good stop for a Yarra Valley trip but food and beer range (for a brewery) won’t impress much. Service was adequate. Maybe it’s just that the bar in the region is raised high when compared to four pillars and some of the top wineries...

Over priced and food was below average. Three chicken tenders for $16! Cost almost $50 for two, my ginger ale was $4.50 and was poured out of a plastic bottle that looked like it was bought from woollies. Had heard great things about this place but unfortunately won’t be returning.

I came down the Yarra valley for the long weekend with my wife and stopped in at Coldstream brewery for a meal and drink for lunch and during the busy time I was fortunate to get a table out the very back.I was impressed with the meals which were recommended by the manager after I asked him what’s good. I had the barramundi and my wife had the Calamari.He recommended a beer for me after I told him what I normally like to drink and I left buying a six pack of the Australian pale.My wife liked the apple crumble ciderWhich unfortunately they don’t sell in cans but we’ll be back again for sure!

The fare here is very good. Stopped here new years day for an excellent ale and a light feed and loved it all. It was pretty busy. I previously reviewed the service here to be poor but yesterday it was very good despite being busy. Love the recycling in the men’s room too👍

The staff were all so passionate about the drinks and food available, I had a tasting with the bar made who was seriously clued up on beer also made excellent cocktails! The front of house were again really lovely and chatted about the produce and seemed genuinely happy and content. I really loved this little bar I highly recommend for dinner. Thank you.

I was extremely unimpressed with the service of Coldstream brewery.I went as part of a tour group and we had booked in advance for a tasting and were barely accommodated. At the front counter we were very loosely directed to “the back”, no one escorted us or showed us where to go or sit and we had no idea. We wandered into the next space and saw a large reserved table which we thought was for us. We were very quickly moved on by the same young woman who had just poorly directed us and then she STILL didn’t show us where to go. So we kept going into the back bar which was full to the brink, and all unoccupied tables were marked “reserved” and the bartender said we couldn’t sit there so he told us to go back out to the first table we were just moved on from. Sure enough, the young lady came back and told us to go back into the bar. And then proceeded to tell all (18) of us that they only do a standing tasting.I was unimpressed to say the least. We’d called ahead to make the booking for a large group of people, had intended to order food, and we were treated like second rate citizens. The level of disorganisation was tremendous. And I can tell you none of us will be coming back or recommending coldstream brewery any time soon!

Food was great, served quickly and ample portions. The beer and cider were very nice served by friendly staff. Would be nicer with an outdoor beer garden but look forward to coming back.

Beer range is excellent. The food is just stunning. Its not a huge menu, and I feel that plays to their favour. Ordered the Shoestring fries with truffle salt, cheese platter, and the pork belly. Fries were great, and the cheese was very, very strong.The pork belly was the kind of meal to drive long distance for. The pork was tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. The skin was crispy and delicious, and really just perfect.I would travel to eat here.
