We have eaten there twice in three nights, and the reason we didn’t eat there last night is that they were closed. We are staying at a nearby hotel, and this restaurant is the best part of this area! Delicious, carefully prepared, among the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Can’t wait air for dinner tomorrow night!

Great ambience. Food arrived quickly and the wait staff were lovely. Due to the lockdown, I havent been back in India for almost two years now. Having had huge cravings for South Indian food, I was pleasantly surprised to find Covai Cafe. I loved the dishes I tried and the tea. Really gave me nostalgia. Very authentic flavour. Will be visiting again. Hoping for the same experience next time.

We were rejected for dine in just because we were 2 people...restaurant was busy but that doesnt mean you reject less people for dine in...we came all the way from Darwin city and it was just disappointing to face such thing....poor serviceThis is my reply to the owner as I did not find any reply optionFirst of all, one of your staff asked me how many people we were and when I said just 2 then only she refused to give us table....my question is why she asked how many we were? There was 1 table empty and there was no any reserved sign. My wife was sitting there when I was talking to the staff I was so disappointed and had to return back. I am pretty sure you were trying to give that table for 4 or 5 people so we were rejected...

Delicious food. I recommend Poori. They gave me complimentary papadam and chutney. 👍

I ignored other reviews of the butter chicken but that was a mistake. I ordered a normal spice and it was incredibly bland, think chicken in low fat milk. The most prominent flavour was the smokiness from the chicken.Pretty expensive as well but there was a lot of meat so theres good intentions.The garlic nahn lacked flavour too, only a super light coating. I was hoping dipping it in the curry sauce would help but it added nothing.The saffron rice was really sticky and gluggy too but not sure if this is normal.Sorry guys but super disappointed

Food is delicious, but what made me want to post a review was how considerate the staff were to my dietary requirements, even going so far to call me (after Id placed my order through Uber Eats and mentioning no dairy) to let me know that another item in my order had diary and asking if I would like to swap it for a different option. Will be ordering from them again 😁

HIDDEN GEM! Best Indian in Palmerston by a mile. Dont be fooled by the appearance, this place rocks. Best eating in house as fresh naan bread is to die for but I get takeaway often and it never disappoints.

Best south Indian food EVAAAAA

Bad customer service as we were charged full price for a takeaway order but not given all the items ordered. When we inquire about it, they simply said that they will add the missed item to the order next time when we place an order. Very dissappointed about the service as we drove 20min to pick up the food to serve couple of friends, and left with no food for the person who is a vegetarian. The kitchen might busy during rush hours, but you will lose many customers if you do not properly handle the customers and their orders specially during rush hours.

The Dosa was very nice. As was the Naan with Chicken Tikka Masala. Service staff were attentive. The restaurant itself is cozy, just under the water tank in Palmerston. Nice place to chill as it closes late.

We had a great masala dosa . Well presented with yummy coconut chutney and sambar. Very filling and is a meal. They took away my lassi before I finished it but other than that the service was ok

Ordered a couple of teas. Didnt like them. They were not tea, just flavoured water and maybe some milk. Very frustrating experience. I can prepare a better tea with tea bags, hot water, milk, and sugar. Would not recommend ordering any tea.

I would definitely recommend the south Indian dishes over the North Indian ones as they were more flavoursome. Overall, an above average experience that could be improved if staff was open to feedback.

Always a great amount of cosistency in the food/taste offered by Covai. It has moved to a lot more North Indian food verieties compared to South Indian food. Though the overall food is always par excellence.

Had crispy, yummy dosa here yesterday.It was definitely worth driving from Darwin City to Palmerston for a dosa.I wasnt disappointed with the food at all.I wish more Indian restaurant in Darwin made dosa.Good service by the lady in front.Noticed some cobwebs on the right corner of the ceiling in Reception otherwise the place looked clean and i could get a glance of the kitchen which looked big and clean from the place i was sitting.Happy overall. Will recommend.
