Temple is serene, neat and clean. Lord Muruga is the main deity at the temple. There are about 198-200 steps, easily claimable for anyone who can walk. Cars cannot go up. Lord Rathnagiri Muruga is auspicious for marriages , health and wealth. There is a Vinayagar , supposed to be suyambu ( self created). Have a visit at convenience. Coimbatore, Ganapathy, Saravanampatti, on the left side while travelling towards sathy from saravanampatti

The main deity at the top is so beautiful. Also, you can have a birds eye view of the city from the top.Dont miss the Sivan temple down. The Sivan temple gets busy during Pradosham days.

Very Divine , Lord Muruga gives darshan on the top of the hill.Many Years ago , A married woman from this area who doesnt have child birth for many years was coming to this temple frequently and praying to Lord Muruga to bless Her with a Child. In the mean time , Her inlaws arranged second marriage for their son.After knowing that She cried a lot in this temple premises and sincerely prayed Lord Muruga to bless Her with a Child. At that time , Lord Muruga came in the form of small boy and asked Her , Amma why you are crying ? She hold that , She didnt have a child for many years after marriage and my husbands parents are arranging second marriage for my husband and i dont know what to do.After hearing this , Lord Muruga in the form of small children gave holy vibuthi prasadam (திருநீறு) and ask Her to ate it and have a darshan of Lord Muruga and go home peacefully. She did like this and went to home while entering the home She become fainted and fell down. Immediately the people rushed and helped her and while checking the reason for Her faintness , She was Pregnant.She and her entire family was very happy. Then , She came for in search of that small boy and could not find any one in that temple and She realised that Lord Muruga Himself came there to help her. She and her entire family praised Lord Muruga for His kindness and finally She gave birth to a child.So here in this temple Lod Muruga is believed to bless the people with child birth. Also in this hill temple atop, you can have darshan of Lord Vinayagar in Suyambu form.

I love this temple for the beautiful statue of lord Murugan and his blessings. The appearance of the statue is like as if a child is standing with a holy smile. It gives a pleasant satisfaction and even if any one goes with a heavy heart the stepping into the temple will make it light. The temple is situated on a small hill which is easier even for the older people to climb.

Good and very pleasant place. Height of the hill is moderate, we can climb with ease. Steps are painted with heat resistant material so, climbing on hot day also possible. Must go temple in the region.

About 60 steps are there to climb. Both Lord Muruga and top view are beautiful!! Good to take kids as they will enjoy climbing stairs.

The only elevated place in the surrounding this temple is a must visit place. There are 150 steps to reach the top but when you see the god you will realize that it is worthy to climb it. Clean and powerful place.....

There wasnt a sign board on main road to the temple, we ended up driving into temple by seeing small flower stalls. It would be better if they put board on main road for those who are new to this place. There is quite decent space for parking, indeed happy that there was no ticketing like Marudhamazhai. This hill-top temple is nearly 100 steps above, where in between there is shrine for Lord Vinyagar, Kannimaar and Idumban. If you are lucky enough you can see peacoks or hear their subtle sounds while climbing up.On the top , its a serene place with an amazing view.The main deity here, Lord Muruga is facing east here. The divine smile of the deity is charming ! However the temple infrastructure is still under development and also requires few maintenance here and there.

Small History:Long back there was a woman who was childless. She prayed to Lord Murugan for years together, undergoing fast and rigorous penance. One day she was performing the pooja inside the temple all alone. Suddenly, a boy came to her who was actually a cow boy and asked her about the reason of her grief. She narrated the boy the entire story and hen the boy gave her some ash. The ash was sacred in nature and he advised her to go round about the idol with the ash in hand. After completing the pooja as she was advised to do, she opened her eyes, but the boy was not there. Later on she conceived a beautiful child after a few days. Since, then Lord Murugun has been considered as a Lord who grants all wishes to his devotees.

Greatness Of Temple:Many years back, a woman devotee was praying to Lord Ratnagiri Muruga for long years seeking child boon. She was undergoing severe fasting for the boon. One day, she came to the temple alone when no one was present in the surroundings. She was in deep meditation for a long time shedding tears and was going round the temple. A cow boy enquired her of her sorrow. The woman told him of her want. The boy gave her a little sacred ash and advised her to go round the prakara with her prayer. After finishing the first round, when the woman wanted to see the boy, he was not there.The woman conceived within a few days then and understood that the boy was no less a person than Lord Muruga Himself. The temple has the reputation of blessing a woman devotee in person gifting her wish.Lord Sri Muruga graces with four hands on His peacock facing the left side. Lord Vinayaka – Swayambu Vinayaka from a rock – is by the side.Poo parithal – picking flowers:It was customary in days of yore, that boys and girls related to each other qualifying a marriage liberty (Murai Mappillai and Murai Penn) visit the temple together on Mattu Pongal day (almost on January 15 according to the Gregorian calendar). The bridegroom-boy will offer the flowers to his fiancée. They will then offer garlands to the Lord with the prayer to unite them in wedlock. The custom has vanished in the modern days. Yet, lovers aware of the custom visit here to pray to Lord Muruga to succeed in their love affair.The belief still remains that any one bringing flowers, making a garland himself/herself and offer it to the Lord will have the life partner of his/her choice. After marriage, they come again to offer their grateful prayer to the Lord to have wise children.Also, school friends, though placed in different places due to their occupations, use to come to this place, pray to Lord Muruga and share their old experiences. The tradition is still followed, on the Mattu Pongal day.Temple History:A demon performed penance for centuries on Lord Shiva and got the boon to rule all the worlds. Intoxicated by the power of the boon and his prowess, he began to harass the devas very cruelly forcing them to live in oblivion. Once the demon saw Indira, the king of devas in his hideout. Indira began to run but the demon chased him. Indira reached this Ratnagiri mount where Lord Muruga changed him as a peacock, his vehicle. The demon returned disappointed. The wonder took place here, according to scriptures.Special Features:Miracle Based: Lord Swayambu Vinayaka appearing from a rock graces in the temple.
