Overpriced, I would say. Got a hint of it even before visiting the place but since there were no other options in Cbe to have a tenderloin steak, I was left with no other options. The tenderloin tasted good but wasnt hot at all and it broke all my expectations. The wine braised chicken also tasted average. Mojito and pizza were really nice and was worth the money. But the other two should either be priced low or should be served better.

A decent and well maintained place to have a rich french foods. Its a top rated restaurant to have dine-in. You have to reserve ahead to have a dinner there. A well-versed menus with a classic French style dishes. If you are a pasta lover, its a Paradise for you. All the dishes I have tired are blend with proper amount and its very perfectly decorated and served. Still needs some maintainance to avoid the insects that are roaming while we are having our food at outside but the exterior and interior are maintained well and it will give a feel like we are in a French. So all come together in a one place like good chef, good interiors, good service and good menu.

It was my first visit to the restaurant. It has a quaint, simple, artistic atmosphere. I wish the music could have been romantic. I lived the pumpkin soup and mushroom crostini. We were seated at a cozy place in the ground floor. We had ample space for our ten month old to play with while having food. The place gives Villa Shanti ( Pondicherry) vibes , though the outdoor space is the main attraction and remarkably done in Villa shanti.I would like to visit again and find another corner for myself , with little more time in hand and more dishes to try.I am glad, I could find such a restaurant in Coimbatore.Peaceful. Artistic. Delicious food.

A good haunt on the streets of RS Puram in Coimbatore. A cute little house converted into quaint cafe that house the best kind of European food in Coimbatore. My favourite was the Pumpkin soup. It was so so so good. We also ordered the Chicken Peri Peri Pizza, French Onion soup, Spinach Ravioli with Truffle sauce and Tiramisu. The sauce for ravioli could have been better. But apart from that, no other complaints with the taste. They are usually packed due to reservations. So I suggest you reserve your table way prior coz we faced an issue with the seating inspite of reserving a table. Thats why the 4 stars instead of 5. Also, to add the pricing which is slightly heavier on your pockets. However, the service and ambiance was amazing.

Went with a lot of expectations.First off, the hosts were kind enough to allow us a table without reservations on a Saturday night when they initially said that it was full.Started off with bruschetta, coffee and hot chocolate. The bruschetta lacked imagination and felt like it lacked any punch. The hot chocolate was delightful, the coffee was reasonable although I was pretty bummed out due to the lack of coffee options and also by the fact that they only had hot coffee. The coffee though was pretty okay, nothing remarkable. The pasta was well done, saucy yet didnt have too much gravy, packed a punch and was a good experience. Pasta had enough quantity for Two.The cheesecake was spectacular, definitely had better but was brilliant. After a huge meal the cheesecake felt heavy for a single person, good desert. We had asked for ice cream and they said that they only had Vanilla which was pretty disappointing.I wish they had more options in their menu. The best part about the cafe is the ambience, interior and decor. Had an incredible time there, perfect for a quiet night out, ideal for couples more than friends. This place could do so much more with food.Extra credits to the cute bill box.

When we went there with our sisters and cousins, like a year before... they were like no place just because we were in ordinary dress, not like posh people where they avoided us to give entry for afternoon lunch ,by one male staff. We told like we will wait for some time for place , but they strictly told even if we wait there will not be place and were moving for lunch. Even that be true, but there is no kindness and politeness in conveying the message. That made us disappointment.

I visited the French Room on the occasion of my wedding anniversary. We called and made a reservation hours before lunch. On arrival , we were shown our table and everything seemed to be going just fine , that is till we ordered and received out food. What we ordered :French onion soupMargherita chicken pizzapesto pastachicken au gratinpork chops. The soup was lukewarm at best. i dont know how the soup couldve been served lukewarm. it probably went into the microwave and was served.Flavours were ok-ish .The pizza was great. The crust was spot on. everything about it was to enjoy. The Pesto pasta was also great. Nice flavours. seemed to be fresh. The chicken Au Gratin which is a bake usually is piping hot under the cheese. Mine was anything but piping. I was at room temp at best. It was average at best. The pork chops were a disaster. Twice. The meat was terrible . tough and flavourless- clearly straight out of the freezer. Ive had pork abroad and at home, Everytime its usually to die for. Usually go right down to the bone. The pork we got was so bad i struggled just swallowing it.@ 750 bucks a serving , i wondered why we just didnt go to anandhas. We then brought the point up with the head waiter /manager who suggested that maybe the food had gone could during the plating. hmmm , never heard that one before , but the soup ? could that have gone cold too ?? No it couldnt have. Once i took the guise off that we were dining in a fine dining restaurant, things became clearer .The French door is a cheap imitation of a fine dining restaurant.I will never visit this place again. As it has been pointed out before ,nothing french about the cuisine or the ambience. If you want to have waaaay better italian please visit On the go.

It was an odd experience. Its one of those places youd expect to have a good time and good food. Strangely that wasnt the case.Firstly, we learn that their cafe menu - which had crepes, croissants, pancakes, muffins, waffles, burgers, pizzas that we wanted etc... - is only available post 3 pm. While I wouldnt mind having Muffins & croissants anytime of the day, I wouldnt think to have them in the evenings.I also would presume that a cafe would function throughout the day and not break service on account of lunch; I failed to check if theyd do the same on account of dinner too, cause if thats the case then theyre only a cafe for 3-4 hours of the day, but come on. Whatever be it, they should have informed me when I called for a table, and mention in Zomato, and other platforms theyre on. How are new customers to know?I would assume a French café to have croissants and puff pastries on display ready to serve, but there was not a single offering of such.Funnily, they also didnt have just the things we wanted. They denied us pizzas cause of time, we wanted to try the camembert cheese puff which was unavailable, also the mini dessert platter... The key lime pie we had instead was too sweet, we could feel the granulated sugar not fully mixed with the custard.Thankfully they had the three cheese soufflé we wanted, it was richly delicious, and meant to be shared. The onion tart tartain we had instead of the puff, was also very good. But unlike the soufflé, this one if hardly enough for one. The truffle oil mushroom paté was unimpressive. We also ordered a fish tikka, which was well done though the produce was not fresh.Since we wanted to have a pizza, we waited till 3 pm to have one, and it was abysmal to say the least. The pizza is hardly the size of a small plate, the tomato base was off colour & palatably stale, and we were literally the first ones to order it.Like I said, it was just off; the whole experience. Its a nice café, pretty premises, a few french dishes on the menu, but it is NOT a French café. Thinking it is was the biggest let down Id say.

A friend and I stumbled on this delightful restaurant quite by chance, just looking for something near our motel. To our amazement, it was truly French in décor and cuisine -- the only such place Ive ever come across in India in my 12 years here -- though it also has Indian, Italian, Chinese, and American offerings. Choosing from the endless menu items took a good 20 minutes. But no regrets, as it was a most enjoyable adventure because of the intriguing, often humorous, descriptions. The roasted pumpkin soup and grilled cheese sandwich with roasted peppers were to die for, as also the cappucinos that followed a personally-led tour of the upper floor by the friendly manager, who regaled us with stories of how the place came about and the unique celebrations that have taken place there. Of particular interest was learning about a table reserved for only the most special of events, such as marriage proposals. No alcohol is served here yet, but eventually will be when a liquor license is forthcoming. Meanwhile, mocktals and near beer are available. We left laden with memories one of the most unforgettable restaurant experiences ever and several of the fresh-baked breads and homemade jams for sale at the large glass temptation counter.

French Door is an extravagant restaurant located on DB Road. Right near the entrance, is a blue cycle and a bunch of pretty white flowers, and you cant help but feel youre in a city like Pondicherry, as you enter those fine wooden doors. I was completely thrown off my game, and aimlessly walked around the place, starting at the decor with much awe. A very friendly staff, took us around the restaurant - showing us the bar, the seating outdoor in the balcony, whilst telling us how they named the restaurant The French Door - as it all started when they procured a magnificent wooden door, at an auction in Pondicherry. The place is lit up minimalistically outside, with a porch, but is extremely well lit inside, with colours of blue and white alternating the wooden windows and walls.
