Everytime we have dined at Aangan we have always left satisfied. The service is IMPECCABLE!Wait staff are so lovely and friendly and hardworking. Our meals came out promptly and without fault. The dishes are always consistently fantastic. We know our Indian food and Aangan is consistently authentic and incredibly tasty. We cant wait to host a function here for a larger group dinner booking as they have a sectioned off area for larger bookings also. Will continue coming back to this lovely restaurant for Indian food.Tip: Order the Garlic Naan, is soft, garlicky and cooked perfectly. Also, the plain rice serve of $5.00 is good for two people. We mistakenly ordered two for only the two of us and struggled to get through the second serve.

I called them few times to complain and the manager didn’t even bother to call back.Definitely not coming back to this place .DISGUSTING!!!!Please be careful guys before ordering anything from this place.

I had been here for a dinner with colleagues. This indian restaurant can accommodate a huge crowd with its vast space and enough tables. Dining area is on the first floor and a beautiful ambience. There is enough staff to serve the customers and guess what robots server you the food. These robots are fun, carry the food on the shelves and come to your table. It doesnt serve you though, that is your or the waiters job. Menu is also filled with plenty of options. Starters were delicious and other main course we tried were also tasty. Overall a great experience here.

For a much hyped place, it was a disappointment today. Food took long to arrive, they missed Paneer Tikka and got it after our mains. And it was the worst plating of paneer Tikka I have seen. Looked like some varied size paneer cubes dumped on a plate!!Naan was thin like a chapati.Tandoori mushrooms and daal makahni were good.Staff was not sure of what kitchen could serve. Even that is fine as long as they come back and tell us if they cant serve something. We finally gave up and nobody even noticed we were waiting for something. The staff dint even notice or bother pick up pile of plates from entrees when they served our mains.Ambience was also not great with heaps of kids running around and it was too noisy!None of the staff were rude though. They just dint do much to provide for a fine dining experience.Ill think twice before revisiting.

Everything seemed to be alright until recently when we had their Kolhapuri mutton. Hailing from the region I can confidently say it was not Kolhapuri at all to an extent it had curry leaves in it :) It was more of a confused curry but enjoyable at the same time. My advice, be genuine or else simply omit the dish from your menu. Otherwise, Aangan continues to be the go-to destination for decent Indian food. All the best

The food is really good here but this is on my personal disappointment that I experienced today. We ended up spending 30 mins or so for nothing. On the way to Aangan we called them to ask if they were serving their delicious South Indian food, to which we got YES as answer.20 mins in to the restaurant and after placing our order, we get to know that they can’t serve South Indians tonight. It was disappointing for me and my friends who were there to have a good relax night after a long day at work. Please keep your staff updated with what you can serve. Also, the staff didn’t offer any alternative which they could have.

One of the best places to go for authentic Indian food! I love the flavors . Being Indian, I like the fact that the food is absolutely authentic and healthy (not submerged in loads and loads of oil like other places). Good Indian cuisine. We had ordered Paneer kadhai, Kofta curry, Dal Makhni and rotis along with some lassi and juices. The food was very tasty. The spice levels were exactly as we had requested, which was very pleasant experience as some other restaurants have never got the spice levels right making the food too hot. The staff was friendly and polite. The restaurant was near full with the lockdown restrictions easing. Overall it was a good experience.

I have been to Aangan Footscray the original shop back in 2013 and was amazed by their flavoursome Punjabi Butter Chicken, the best Ive had in Melbourne. Since then whenever I wanted to try I would drive all the way from eastern suburbs. Was happy seeing Aangan express in Hawthorn but for some reason woh feeling Nahi aa Rahi thi 😂🤣😂And finally thanks to the Management for setting up this establishment in Clayton. Upon entering this place the warmth n feeling is amazing, I went around 10pm last Saturday and it felt I was in a banquet hall for an Indian wedding back in India, coz everything seemed too big for an Indian restaurant here in Melbourne whether it be crowd, menu, drink options, decor, music.....We were a group of three ordered Chicken Malai tikka, Punjabi Butter Chicken, Balti Paneer, Butter Naans, coke and a cocktail SHARABI CHAI 🍻🍻🍻Yes we were hungry and service was fast too, looking at how busy that place was, our starters came withing 10 mins OMG the look of the charcoal chicken tikka pieces drooling in cheese looked mouthwatering. Initially I thought how wud cheese on chicken tikka taste as was expecting Malai/cream, but first bite in and this dish secured its place as a memory and on my future orders, the flavours are too good and balanced and that cheese complimented everything on that plate. Then came the main course and I think 6 years down the line I have again found the best butter chicken that too from the same brand Aangan. The tanginess, spices, tenderness of chicken, smoky flavour, consistency of gravy, Not sweet as Punjabis like it, quantity for a portion size. And Balti Paneer complimented our taste palate too, taking it to another level, the recipe seems to have been reinvented and it tasted owseome. Both were tomato based gravies, vibrant red in colour yet tasted so different.Name of cocktails are funny so tried SHARABI CHAI, its basically long island tea but I wont be drinking cocktails from a house known to master its food n curries 🙈🙈It was a perfect dinner👌👌👌and I will surely be back. Thanks to Aangan team and to our very special Sumit Malhotra, the guy behind success of Aangan and spreading happiness since 2004, you are a really passionate foodie who loves to be in the kitchen.

Add more staff for weekends please. During busy times, the staff goes out of their way to actively avoid looking towards a customer just in case they get called. As a result, we have waited on for long durations without being seated, or even after being seated, with no water or no cutlery (after the food was served). Theres also often cutlery including forks on floor which noone seems interested in picking up.

I have visited Aangan Clayton twice. The restaurant is very spacious and the team has taken every step to ensure the dining experience during COVID is safe. There were hand sanitisers at the entrance and the body temperature was checked for every visitor. The service and the food way okay and hence the 3-star. I have been to Aangan Deer Park and Footscray before and the food and service was not at the same level at Clayton. The manchow soup was more like cream of tomato soup with veggies and when we complained they said that was their manchow soup recipe.Dish I would go back for- Tandoori Platter!

After 40mins when I asked staff about food they asked us to place order again and we wer shocked by there service and wasted our 1hr. They didnt even serve our drinks. I am really disappointed by the service. Most of the staff members had no writing pads or tablets to write down orders . When I asked one of your staff member to take our order she left and called another girl to take order but she also came and left and asked some other guy to come and take order. We booked the party hall for my daughter’s first birthday party on 3/4/2021. We were so excited for this day as it’s really special for any first time parents but I felt so embarrassed in front of all guests seeing such a poor management as no one bothered to clear the table or to refill water jugs forget about even drinks. Some of our guest waited for rice a long time but finished eating as did not get it even when I personally asked to get it and then they denied to give naan to few of our guests who had dinner late saying they stop serving after a particular time again was so ashamed in-front of everyone and the list goes on and when we asked to discuss it with someone from management no body was there to take responsibility. For a gathering of around 90 people they provided only two staff members to run the whole party which is absolutely ridiculous and then telling us that one of the staff had to go upstairs to help in restaurant when it is already a mess here absolutely disappointing. I would highly recommend not to waste your hard earned money and spoil the special day by having a party at this place. My preference for Indian food is Always Aangan Restaurant. They serve amazing and scrumptious food and have best customer service with greeting and smiling faces. The most scrumptious items on Menu is Dal Makhani and Paneer Tikka. Even the naans are so soft and perfect.Just one problem I felt today when I visited was quantity. With each visit I feel the quantity of the dish served is decreasing but the quality is properly maintained. Only the quantity. We were expecting curries to be tasty but were terrible. Malai kofta , But Daal, paneer butter masala was ok. But I think chef needs to learn veg korma you don’t add whole bottle of cream. Aangan food is really good, though a bit pricey. The location and set up too is real good. However they play music overtly loud and it ruins the ambience since patrons try to converse on top of that. If only they could try playing soft instrumental music, they would claim the fifth star in the ratings.Update:I have visited a few more times since then and seems like the management has listened to my input and stopped the loud crass music. However their cook/chef seems to have changed and thus the food items have taken a hit for the worse. It is not all that bad still but its way below what they served earlier.I have a big grudge against what they serve as chicken manchow, no way close... it looks, taste like tomato soup rather. The chef needs to get his recipe right on that one, and fast.I have to knock another star off from the ratings, but hopefully management is listening this time as well.

We organised a party for 25 people to dine in a week in advance, upon arrival we noticed they had 2 separate tables set up for us in middle of the all other busy tables ( which was not we wanted) where as the other half of the restaurant was empty and closed for some reason , we requested if they can change the setup for us to be together in a same raw. Which was apparently refused by OWNER who wasn’t even present there to handle the request. After 30minutes of discussion they did it for us where they wanted not what we wanted! After that no one was bothered to serve , clear plates, take order, refill drink bottles. To be honest if was a bit embarrassing for us to host a party at a place like this. We are regular customer at aangan and visit regularly and had great experience every time we come in and thought to celebrate our special day aT the same place. If the owner is that adamant on keeping half of the dining area shut then why have that many tables and chairs just keep the hall empty as there is no solid answer for this. also it is unfair for your staff to deal with such issues , that hold of their job of helping and serving customers. Learn from Other branches like Footscray and deer park which handles such larger volume of customers where service and food both are outstanding! Thank you.

It was one of the worst services we ever received. It was unexpected. I and my friends went a few days back and we were horrified because of all the incident that took place in two hours. First, we ordered chilli gobhi for vegetarians and non-veg food (chicken) for non-vegetarians. My friend, being a vegetarian, asked the waitress three-four times to confirm, only to have had chicken instead of gobhi. The mix up is horrifying! Soon, we found hair strands in the curries we ordered. Then we notice baby rats walking all around the false ceilings, noticed two-three of them. Thats a dangerous one, no one would like to eat when they notice rats all over. Ive thought the staff said they have got pest control but this is not the best way to serve at any restaurants. We had to pay the full expenses of the food and was not compensated in any way for terrible services.

I thought only there delivery food is bad but this time was the last time I will visit or order from aangan. Very disappointing.

This place is an avoid for me, in my view. Giving them one star because unfortunately ZERO star option isnt available. At the table there were no plates or glasses, upon asking for water and spoons, it took 10 minutes to bring the water and spoons. Atleast the waiters did not have the courtesy to bring the starters or water for that matter unless upon telling. We ordered starters, red wine and food. Even after telling waiter to bring wine first they didn’t serve first. After eating half of food he served us wine. They served rice first instead of starters. Such a pathetic experience. After eating half of rice we found whole hair in it and carrots in rice is rotten. We talked to manager and she was telling like the hair could be of you; strange 😖. Then I said if it is our hair then how can it come out through the rice 🤷🏼‍♀️, It supposed to be upside only. Also we said that carrots in the rice was rotten and she replied that sometimes it happens that while cooking some vegetables burnt easily. How she tried to convince us like as we don’t know anything about cooking skills. Disgusting experience. Will never visit in future. A big 👎 to this restaurant. Never recommend to anyone.

I went to angaan Clayton today on 16 may 2021 very poor service. I had to wait for 20 minutes just to get served by a waiter. Afterwards, they took 40 minutes just prepare my food and I don’t know but the food was cold and saggy. I’m never going back there again.
