Thrift shopping is always fun. Every trip is completely different depending on what you find. However the prices just keep going up. I am not going to spend $12 on a shirt at a second hand store. The store is always clean and organized. I do appreciate that. Theyve converted this location to self checkout. Thats sad for me.
Has the best rewards program! This store is clean and organized unlike most thrift stores. They have given me a coupon when Ive donated in the past.
This is a great thrift store. Everything is set up really well. They have good stuff and not bad prices.
Unique on Elston Ave has always been a great place to shop. If you compare prices with quality you get much more for your money, especially on half price Mondays.
I had a good experience here; found a lot of great tops and there was a lot more than I could even look through. Their dressing rooms are closed, but they are offering an extended exchange policy of 14 days, which I appreciate.
Stopped in unexpectedly and they had some great finds!
Its hit or miss. I have found some amazing clothing pieces and sometime everything is trash and it smells.
Top notch thrift store! One thing Id like to point out about this place is I seldom see empty cases or missing products. Always nice when you do find that great deal that the contents actually exist!Looking forward to weekly trips to this location for years to come. If youre into thrifting, this one is a must!
Interesting mix of stuff. I thought that clothes and books are overpriced. I picked up a small paella pan for $6. Worth hitting up, but I would try other thrift stores first.
What is Unique Thrift doing with our personal phone numbers? Some reviews complain about their outrageous prices, and others complain about social distancing issues.I’m complaining about their new practice of collecting personal information. Why do you need my phone number to be a rewards member? Isn’t there another way for me to join? I waited in line for 45 minutes to purchase a small electronic item. I normally stray away from Mondays because of the large crowds, but I was feeling ambitious today. After waiting for such a long time in line, I discovered that unless I gave away my personal information, I would not receive the posted Monday discount. Had they posted this new practice in their store, I wouldn’t have bothered shopping.I’m Definitely going to reduce my donations to this organization, and limit my purchases.Again, what are they doing with all the phone numbers they collect?
I got exactly what I needed and there was a whole lot more selection. Lots of Halloween costumes.
I love thrifting here one of my favorite spots! Good selection of books and everything is well organized even after its been rummaged through. The employees are super attentive and eager to answer any questions you have. Love coming on Mondays!
I love it but is true the prices are a bit higher. They use to have more fancy clothes not sure what happened . Could be covid. They have special discounts and days so I still go for that reason. The people are really friendly.
Not bad place to find your jewels.
Nice thrift store. Found some random decent quality items. They have been limiting how many customers are allowed inside at once which is a great precaution. Ive donated a few things with no problems and some nice coupons in return.
They always have a great book section, though the genres are usually scrambled by patrons by the time I get there. And their clothing/shoe section is great. Lots of variety. The staff memebrs are really nice, too!
I like this place. They have a lot of nice clothes and stuff, but I was really disappointed to see that the dressing rooms were closed. Coulda saved me some money...I hope they open them up again soon so I can shop more
Way way way way overpriced. I saw things here that were from Dollar Tree where everything is $1, selling for $5 or more at Unique. No wonder so many of them closed. There losingbusiness. Rip off store.
Excellent thrift store. They have a great selection and are very well organized. Amazing selection of books for buy 4 get one free. I always buy way too many books when I come. Clothing is organized by size, which is very helpful. Clothes are generally good quality. It’s expensive compared to the church-run shop in my little hometown, but I suspect prices are standard for a city like this, especially since that church shop ran on volunteers, and Unique has paid employees! If you bring an item home and it doesn’t fit (can’t try things on in-store due to COVID), you can bring it back for an exchange, which works just fine for me because they always have something new there that I like. Exchanges are very easy and the employees are so helpful, friendly, and kind.
This store is definitely slightly pricier than Goodwill (I’d say dresses range $10-$18, for example), but the clothes are always in great condition, often designer or name brands, and there’s a great selection. There are quite a few home linens, a great shoe section, lots of books, great purse selection, and lots of home knick knacks as well. Definitely not a ton of furniture, although there are occasionally some nice pieces. Overall, I love this place. Half my wardrobe is fron here.
Used to be my favorite spot, but they took down the fitting rooms which is nonsense in a thrift store
Good customer service andOn Mondays good pricing
I really enjoy this location. It’s organized well, great staff and I always find what I’m looking for. I mainly shop for kids clothes since mine grows by the second it seems. Haha. Monday’s it is busy and you will have to wait in a line. They follow covid guidelines and have limited capacity. Moves quickly enough though.
Always good sales and nice polite people working there
I use to love shopping at this Unique on Elston really good finds. Everything is so over priced now. Its not a true thrift store anymore. Im use to seeing $2.99 or 3.99 or 4.99 even some items that have never been used are $15.99 or higher. I give alot of donations here.
Usually my fav place to go. They have changed. The woman behind the jewelry counter is downright nasty. Today, I wanted to buy some DVDs behind the counter. I had just begun to shop and she insisted I pay immediately. Well, I had a coupon. I wanted to pay all together to use the coupon for everything. Too bad! I even called the manager. They couldn’t care less. So I lost money! And I had to wait in line twice. I know this is a thrift store, but why purposely hurt customers?!?!
I used to come here when prices where reasonable. I came in for about 5 minutes before looking at the ridiculously expensive prices. You’re better off going to Nordstrom rack. It’s honestly disgusting that they get free merchandise and sell it to the customer at such high prices. Won’t be back. Not even worth it at 50% off
This place is Golden.Wouldn’t be surprised to find actual Gold here.My favorite thrift store.
Very clean, bright and organized. Great prices you cant beat! The only disadvantage would be the hard to get out parking lot depending on which way youre going, but otherwise a very spacious lot.
Very good prices and inventory.
Wow. I havent been here in awhile. They have really upgraded the store. Prices are a bit higher but I still found high end names at a fraction. Totally spoiled. 🤣
If you looking for something take your time nothing to brag about
I dropped off a trunk load of stuff today and the guy didnt even bother to help unload. I feel like going to Goodwill because theyre helpful.
Always find good deals recomend to everyone
The store was very unorganized when we went and there wasn’t a very good selection. I understand it’s based on what’s donated but some of the clothes were so stained and gross I didn’t get how they could be put for sale. The prices weren’t very good either for the quality of what they were selling. They did have good disinfecting measures with the carts although customers weren’t keeping six feet apart. Overall not a great experience but could have been worse.
If you become a free member you get 50% off on Mondays. Its very clean and organized.
Close to home Its in Brickyard Mall Carries newer clothes every week
They organize everything by size which is a relief! They also have bathrooms open during covid and they’re clean. Had a great experience!
My favorite thrift!!!Always super clean, friendly staff and the clothes are arranged by size. THE BEST!
Very clean shop, well maintained and organized. Good for a quick shop or prolonged stay to find those gems everyone is hoping to find.
They run debit card scams they will lie and say your card has been declined and ask for you to pay in cash so you can pay double and i had to re write this because they deleted my comment like i said again if you shop here use CASH ONLY
Store is clean, employees are friendly and there is a parking lot, However, some items are too pricey. On tuesday seniors over the age of 55 get 30% discount.
Items are too pricey.
They have very nice things and easy to find things very friendly store
This was my first trip to a non-essential retail store. After being in the supermarkets and hardware stores I wasnt sure what to expect as far as mask wearing and safety. I was prepared to leave right away if it was a mess. Everyone was wearing masks (noses covered and everything!) extra staff doing extra safety things, all the customers were super polite about keeping distance. Instead of going in and out I stayed for maybe 30 minutes and found some great stuff. I appreciate that everyone involved is making this work so well. The managers of Target and Menards and Jewel should be trained by Uniques management on how to do this the right way
Get truckload of clothes for cheap and sell the clothes at comparatively exorbitant prices. Good idea but unreasonable to the consumers, will likely never shop there. Alotta stuff to choos from here
Every item is overpriced, specially clothes.
Only accepts exchanges instead of returns during COVID, which IS NOT helpful since their dressing rooms are closed. They should allow you to get your money back during an international pandemic where people are still monetarily suffering.I need clothing that fits, not credit at a thrift store.
Its big and its always clean
Just a lovely shopping experience. Im not sure how old some of these photos are but I was just there yesterday (1-5-19) and it is one of the most organized thrift stores Ive been in. For example they have the books sorted by subject matter just like a bookstore would. There were very few items on the floor.
There really nice and fast. Place was clean.
99% of the time its always great
Always easy to find fun things. Clean and organized. And the staff are all very polite and helpful. A great time. Remember: Mondays every week the entire store is 1/2 price. Enjoy yourself.
This store is very clean, organized and the items I saw appeared to be in good condition. However, this is not a thrift store I would regularly shop it. It is far too expensive in terms of used clothing and I personally would rather take the time to sort through items and pay a lower price. I also feel the selection is limited, probably because they are selective with their items.Worth checking out, but personally not for me.
Just a thrift store nothing to special.
Seen a chain in there that was suppose to be gold and mightve been gold but they wanted 200 dollars for it not even knowing if it was real gold thats one thing I dont like about them. if your gonna charge prices like that at least know if its real.
Best Thrift Store in Chicago! Clean, Bright, Well Organized store with Super Helpful Staff!Best of all, you can actually FIND your SIZE & Colors on the well organized racks - - - items ALL computer TAGGED with Size and price.I WALK OUT of Uniques Competitors because clothes are just a DEPRESSING big pile of unsorted sizes! UNIQUE is a pleasant shopping experience.
Easy to locate. Clean, organized, helpful staff.
The cleanest place that a lot of second hand store need to strive for. I have never walk out with less then three bags and no regrets on buys or things I could give as gifts.. Happy to be a shopper there..
Love it I always find great brands at low prices
This place has seen better days
Very organized and tidy - clothing by size and books by category, even! Ive been here many times and have found lots of great plus size clothing including coats and dresses. Prices can be a little high for resale, but the quality of the items is pretty good and it beats the heck out of the original retail prices for the name brands. There are also color tags of the day that are half off and they have a frequent shopper rewards program. You also get discount coupons when you donate items, which is easy to do thanks to the drive thru around back. Plus it benefits veterans. They dont usually have much furniture - some chairs and end tables, the occasional entertainment center or desk. The kids toys section even get a little crazy, but thats because they have a lot of cool toys! They moved that section to the back corner of the store, so its less disruptive to the flow of shoppers than you might think. Lastly, I appreciate that they have a parking lot and bathroom for customers. The employees are also pretty friendly.
Nice mix of clothes. Can easily find dress shirts and pants that go for $60 in retail shops for $11 (even cheaper if its half off day). The only downside, theres not much in electronics and furniture here though.
Very organized & clean. Best thrift, hands down, on the north side.
I like to just walk around here and look at stuff. I like to just see what I can find here and then purchase it. They have some good stuff on this store. And if you go on Monday make sure you get there early because you can really have some fun buying a whole bunch of stuff. And you will spend money like no other place before. And you can walk out probably with a trunk load and a back seat load of stuff.
Unique prices many of their items higher than some nearby thrift stores (Village Discount for example) but the store is cleaner and better organized than most, and its easy to find whatever you might be looking for.
I found this location while driving through the neighborhood after work, which prompted me to stop in on a later date. I stopped in looking for a nice sized pot to make spaghetti, and found just that. The pot was listed at $8.99, but I saved $4.49 paying only $4.50 in the end. I saved due to purchasing on their Monday sales day and signing up for the super savers club, which did not cost any extra to register, but any other day that pot purchased may have varied in its price. As for this location I cannot knock it for the quality of items sold because the items sold are based off of what the neighborhood residents drop off. However, I can knock it for cleanliness and prices listed. While walking through this place, I could not help but think to myself how cluttered this location was, and how pricey some of the prices are. I honestly think that they should revise some of their prices because certain items are ridiculously overpriced, and for that I rate this place 3 stars. If I could give them 3 1/2, I would, however its not an option.I love thrift stores and Im quite positive that I will stop in again, but it will be occasionally if not on a Monday because of what I have noticed thus far.Thomas G
Excellent thrift store! Mondays are always half price and the quality of the items is better than any other thrift Ive been to. Also very organized.
I have found some excellent and many times unused classic wool blazers. My favorite finds. Where do they get this stuff from? My guess is unsold items post 5 years.
This is a great place to drop off donations. If I cant make it Brown Elephant, I will go here to donate my stuff. In the back, you can drive up and they will help unload things from your car. Proceeds go to helping Vietnam vets.
Lots of goods awaiting sale for half price Monday. Customers dont respect the merchandise by throwing it anyway resulting in breaking some glassware. Go there for home goods.
Slightly better than many thrift stores. Weve made some great affordable quality purchases here. Its worth the drive and we enjoy their choices for charitable causes.
Clean store, employees that actually greet a customer and say thank you on your way out. Prices reasonable. Half-price Mondays!
This is a newly renovated unique second hand store the clothes have been arranged proper sizes making it easy to find what your looking for. Among the average clothing it is possible to find designer items for a very reasonable price. Theres parking out front the very busy store.
This location hit or miss.Sometimes good selection sometimes no.Half off on Mondays on all colors come early cause this place is sometimes crazy busy those days. This location accepts cash, credit or debit.I believe no checks. I think 7 day return policy, but only for store credit with original tags attached and receipt also.
Huge place and lots of choices. Enjoy a 50% off on Mondays! We always drop by on Mondays looking for childrens books as they have tones of new selections coming every week. Worth checking out!
Legitimately a hidden gem. Awesome stuff, great cause, reasonable prices, and ridiculously well-maintained.
Im a thrifter, choosing to pick through other folks discards for my own use. I buy to use, to collect and to resell. Ive had great luck with all three functions. I purchased a beer stein here for 20 that values in the 400-700 range. I picked up a calculator for .50 cents that I resold for 125. Ive furnished my house with unique art from this place. They keep the cleanest thrift store Ive been to.
Unique items, friendly people, low prices, exellent customer service.
Very bad staff.
Great store has great prices but,I dont go on Mondays only because it s half off day and the store is chaos, I dont like the way people leave cloths all on the floor and make it so hard for the associated who work there. If only they be more considered. We go on Tuesday senior day.
Its ok
This is one of the best of the Unique stores in the area, in my opinion. The clothes are usually a little nicer as far as quality and brand names, and I’ve found many items with the tags still attached. All of the departments have a pretty large selection to choose from and things are organized by size and type. Also, the staff here are really some of the nicest people which is saying a lot because I’d lose my mind on a Monday afternoon when the store is a mess from half price day. A couple tips: Monday everything is half price, all other days there is a percentage off based what color price tag is on the item. They have a points program to reward frequent shoppers so sign up to get discounts. There are outlets in the back to test out electronics.
Such great prices!!!!!! Really fun searching for unique items truly lives up to the name. Something for everyone!
Mondays can get a little hectic but its one of the best thrift stores Ive been to--the selection is pretty diverse, theres enough fitting rooms so youre not waiting for 30 min just to try things on, and theres public restrooms (that are usually pretty clean). Usually I wouldnt go to a thrift store when looking for something specific (eg work pants, etc) but Ill stop here before looking at traditional full-price places now!
This place is amazingggggg! They have an assortment of all sizes of clothing, fitting rooms, and courteous staff members. Every monday there is 50% off everything and other days there is 50% off certain tags. The prices are very cheap and I always find something I like there.
Great place to shop.
I love thrift shopping! Unique is my favorite thrift store over all!
I found some pretty neat items here. Its a smallish store that carries mostly clothing, but a few cool knick-knacks can be found as well.Mondays are half price, so naturally Mondays are busy days for them, but worth it to save half the bill!
Always a good selection of items. Really low pricing. One of the few thrift stores worth visiting in the Chicago area.
My favorite Unique store in the city. Its huge, very clean, and the staff are great. Theres a sale every day of the week so take your time and search for a treasure!
This thrift store is the jam. I used to thrift like it was my job. Now I only go every so often, but when I do, this place is a gold mine. I think theres only been a handful of times when Ive walked out empty handed. A good 1/3 of my wardrobe and most of my home decor is from here. The clothes are always decent quality at great prices. You can even find barely worn designer pieces for next to nothing. AND they have discount days! What? Theyre practically giving stuff away!
Spent $90 even with a 30% off card I got for making donations. I gave them my ticket for the jewelry from the case which they have to hold until you check out...they sold one of the two necklaces I was supposed to have. They just said sorry, no one could explain why they did this, and couldnt even think to offer a free bag or discount to make up for this.
Clean but pricey.
I love the store. You can find unique things in reasonable prices also they have sales quite often so its really worth to visit the store.
A bit more expensive than other thrift stores but it makes up for that in cleanliness and superb organization. No wading through junk like at Family Thrift, Unique ensures everything they put out on the floor is good quality!
Always great selections. The employees are really helpful. A fun place to shop.
