It is said that when will world end and the ocean would have engulfed Puri and the Jagganath temple completely, Lord Jagannath would come down to stay here along with his siblings. From here he would take the Kalki avatar to rescue. There are many legends to this temple. The Khaja prepared is the best here and is found inside the temple. Do not take it from outside. Take Chenna Poda from outside the temple, just opposite to the gate of temple.
