FRAUD DUTY-FREE BUSINESS IN CHENNAII arrived at Chennai airport on 5th July and got 100 USD chocolate from Flemingo duty-free, I didnt check the expiry date, got home after a few days later checked the expiry date most of them expired last year and some of the packets were the expired beginning of this year. I just want to make sure that you shouldnt be fooled by these frauds.

I bought a big bar of Lindt chocolate here as a gift for someone. It seemed fake. The chocolate was sugary and definitely did not taste like Lindt. It takes a whole minute on high power in the microwave to melt, which is very unlike good chocolate. I feel cheated. Dont trust them. Later, when I compared the bar to pictures of the same one online, I realised that the mountains behind on Lindt cover were slightly moved. That was the only difference. Its hard to spot the fakes. Be alert.

Best place to buy souvenirs and imported drinks .If you are planning to return back to Chennai soon then you can buy your alcohol bottles from here and you can pick from arrival duty free and you will get additional 10% discount on this.

BEWARE: I was informed that a particular brand carried a 10% discount. After I paid and came out, I realised that the bill didnt reflect the said discount. When I went back to check, the manager said it was the salespersons mistake and that offer was applicable last month. Today is 4th of May. How can the salesperson make the mistake after 4 days? Which means he has been conning every customer who has walked into the shop with this technique and I guess most people dont check the bill correctly assuming a duty free shop in an international airport will not indulge in blatant cheating. So better to be careful with this duty free chain.

I am writing this complaint because of the harassment I faced in Chennai airport today. I have bought liquor from duty free and it was sealed and in pristine condition with all receipt with me. Due to poor infrastructure of the airport I have to go out of international arrival and walk along the road and enter the domestic terminal for my connecting flight back to Kolkata. After checking my luggage in...when I went for security check..to my utter disbelief the CISF personnel refused to let the liquor bottles that I have bought from the duty free to take on board though they were sealed and packed buy the duty free shop because I have entered the terminal from outside(when there is no option of domestic transfer through the inside of the airport). They insisted on putting it in check in baggage inspite of repeatedly telling them that I have already checked in my luggage and dont have any suitcase with me. Mr Anand Prakash was in charge of the security here and its impossible to talk sense with him. Poor infrastructure of the airport combined with incompetent staff and security makes the experience a nightmare for travellers. Whats the point of having a duty free shop if u cant carry the products in the hand luggage. I had to take out my camera with the lenses and my laptop and other stuff...just to put the bottles in the backpack and put it in check in baggage again and carry the contents of my backpack in hand. Never have I faced such problems in any other Indian airport during a domestic transfer. They r so concerned with bottles that they dont even realise that people are taking lighters and matches with them on board. This is the state of security in Chennai airport which is nothing but an eyewash and harassment for travellers. Avoid Chennai airport if with want to shop in duty free. This is my Ernest request to the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take necessary steps so that other travellers dont have to face such harassment in future.

The cashiers at the Chennai International Departure terminal are terrible. They prioritize customers on the value of their purchase and let them skip the queue. When i asked them why this was so they just laughed, so i left my items at the counter and left as i didnt want to give business to a shop which has no value for its customers. No one bothered to step out and apologize. 5th October 2018 2.00 - 2.15pm
