A good Shaivite temple with friendly priests and a good welcoming atmosphere. It could be a bit cleaner. Great selection of deities, with enough vaishnavite deities as well with a committed and devoted staff. Perfect for a quick and intimate meeting with the almighty.
The place seems so hi fi with marbles and rude staffs, there are ppl employed in the temple who behaves as typical employees, and an employee outside the temple - you must pay him for something or other, else you will treated as ppl eaten in hotel and couldnt pay for it. I was in a journey of visiting 28 different shivan temples in 28 days, this was the only worstestttttt option, which extended my list to 29 temples including an alternative temple. I have given rating 5 for all the temples which were so divine
Very respectful temple administrators .... Thrikaala pooja done for Lord Shiva
You can feel good vibe and the amma kovil in cave is really surprising..!!!
Very nice temple. All poojas are performed with great devotion and popular amongst many people.
Divine place for clearing all other thoughts and praying the god
Very Spiritual and positive environment... Pradosham poojas are very nicely done...
Its so well maintained and neat. Very divine.
The place is really good and you can relax.. 🙏
Right in the city centre in mahalingapuram in Chennai, a grand Lord Shiva temple. Definitely worth a visit. Closes at 8 pm.
Beautiful ambience. Good place to visit
Siva temple with All dieties blessed by kanchi paramacharya .
I visit this temple daily morning 7.30am for the last 30years.
Very old and very good place to worship and powerful GOD
A peaceful Shiva Temple with Raamar, Guruvayurappan & Anjeneyar too.It does NOT have a hundi. We should give our contributions & get receipt.Lamps will be sold within the Temple itself.Located on the main road itself but has sufficient parking on the side road.
Best time to visit the temple is at 7:00 am. BrahatSundaraKusambal is adorned beautifully. One will realise as if she is standing very much lively! Visited persons will understand this.Very calm temple...Less money minded vathiyaars.
Very good temple , i use to go very regular , Om Namashivaya
The Temple is Divine and Lord Ganesha is very powerful. I have very nice and precious memories of this Temple. I lived in Mahalingapuram for 20+ years, and have visited this temple numerous times on all important festivals and to seek the Gods blessings and pray for success in my school exams, board exams and my Univ. exams as well. This attachment to the Temple over a period of 20+ years made the Pillayar Kovil an integral part of my life.My impression (using the present tense, although it is long since I left Chennai) is that the shrines are very well maintained and the priests do a sincere and thorough job of the archanas and other rituals. The lighting inside the Temple is very good, and the information board is always updated with details of important festivals and events. The priests are very helpful and courteous. The statues of the Saivite saints are very artistic and beautiful to look at. Saturday is special for Lord Hanuman, and there are always some special pujas performed (Butter Alankaram, Vadamala, Betel Leaves mala etc.) for Lord Hanuman on Saturdays. Hope I can visit this Temple sometime during my next visit to Chennai.
Excellent temple...but no parking for vehicle.
Love this temple. Brihath sundara kuchalambal is beautifully adorned with madisar everyday. Very powerful and positive energy generating temple!
Good divinity vibrations
Calm and peace, positive vibration
Well maintained small temple
Navanidhi Selva Vinayagar, MahalingaSwamy, BalaSubramaniar, BrihathSundaraKuchambal, Durga, Chandikeswarar, Anjaneyar, Ramar Sannidhi, Dakshinamurthy, GuruVayoorappan, Brahma, ArasaMaram, Nataraja, Radha Krishna, Bhairavar, and Navagraha. Pradosha Puja draws a big crowd two times a month. Saints: Appar, Sundarar, Manickavachagar, ThiruGnanaSambandhar by the four pillars in front of Ganesha. ArunaGiriNathar, Patinathar, Auvaiyar, and Agasthiar are in front of Murugar. The Arasa Maram is centuries old. The temple came up in the 1960s with Ganesha as Moolavar, and then expanded in the 1970s to include MahalingaSwamy. Administration is with the second generation of Mahalingapuram families. In the 1970s, Kanchi Periyavas Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswathi, and Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, have held SatSangh in a camp site on a vacant lot where the Kalyana Mandapam is now situated.
I find peace here
No parking available. They do not do proper clearance of the loads of garbage generated on a daily basis. Disappointed with the negative attitude.
