Said to be one of the sapthasthana temples of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva in the name of Valleeswarar is the presiding deity at this temple. A big temple with many gods to pay our devotion. Main god is Lord Shiva. The temple has kodimaram also. If your are to visit Mylapore Kabaleeswarar Temple, visit this temple too. Many flower shops and fruit shoos in and around the entrance. There is also a token system to leave your footwear.

Very nice temple, only problem is lack of priests, if you have to perform archana you have to wait for sometime, like other temples you dont have individual priest allocated to each sannidhi

Visiting this temple second time today. Was surprised about many things.1. There is another Velleeswarar temple present near Mangadu Kamatchi Amman Temple and the slogan to get both the eyes back is pasted in that temple too.2. Vinayagar is in standing position, first time seeing a vinayagar in standing position.3. A beautiful sarabeswarar sannadhi present near the kodimaram.4. Temple with two kodimarams.Temple seems to be cramped but still neatly done. Had a very good darshan, and temple seems to be very lively.

Cleanliness needs to be improved. Its dirty and stinking inside the Temple. But these issues didnt affect the divinity of the temple. After prayers i feel the divine realisation and get energised to face challenges in life. Great divine experience.

Sukran is the Asura Guru and he got his eyesight corrected by praying to the main deity (Lord Shiva) of this temple. You can pray if you have any eyesight problems. Also there is a sannidhi for Sarabeshwarar in this temple. The annual festivities happen during the Tamizh month of Vaikasi.

On entering the Temple, the first deity we see is that of Lord Ganesha in standing posture with his consorts Siddhi and Buddhi. This posture of Ganesha is said to be rare. We come next to the Shrine of Lord Velleeswara in the form of a Linga facing East. The next shrine that we see is that of Goddess Kamakshi. The Goddess faces south. We can view the idols of the Saptamathrikas installed as we circumambulate Lord Shivas Shrine. Goddess Varahi is much venerated here. We also come across an Idol of Lord Vishnu in TriVikrama posture behind Lord Shivas Shrine, and Devi Durga (facing north), and as we proceed further we come to the Shrine of Lord Kartikeya sanctified here as Lord Muthukumaraswamy. The deities of the Lord can be seen along with his consorts Valli and Devasena in standing posture.We then proceed to the outer courtyard after crossing the Idol of Lord Bhairava and immediately on the left we can see the shrines for Lord Sarabeshwara, a small shrine for Goddess Pratyangira Devi and Sukracharya praying to Lord Shiva. Kamakshi is the goddess here. Sarabeshwarar shrine was built inside the temple in early 2000 where special offerings are made on Sundays at evening. The annual festival is usually held in the month of may. The temple is open from morning 6 to noon later evening 4 to 9 on normal days.
