This is the worst maintaining station i have ever seen. There only one foot bridge is there for connecting of all platforms. No lifts, only one escalator available, that is also on platform no 1 only. There is mo food stalls at 4, 5 platforms. Need to be arrange additional foot bridges for connectivity and convince of the people. I completely disappointed on it.

Nice railway station, all southbound trains from and to Chennai Egmore stop here except Tejas express, well maintained railway station, EMUs are available once every 10 minutes to Chennai Beach which goes through the Chennai city, EMUs depart to Chennai Beach in the first 3 platforms and Express trains arrive at the other platforms.The connectivity is bad as people have to cross a huge road, but they have constructed a new skywalk which improves connectivity.

We can get towards Chennai towards kanniyakumari and vedharanyam, Rameashwaram trains over here. Station they maintain fully secured with CCTV and local and long distance trains frequently. Because of Covid time now train are reduced limited time period only local train access is there before each and every 3 to 5 minutes train access will be there in Chennai Local train essy accessible also cost vise cheep also compared to Bus fare and metro train.One main drow back is toilet is not hygiene 95% station best thing the total Chennai local train itself you can travel more then 100km easily with low fares.Main station in Chennai is Tamabaram Guindy then Egmore central then Chengalpattu.Outside of station u can get lots of local and long distance buses and auto as well near by lots of shoppes there also u have to be focused on ur properties safety as well

Tambaram is a better place to who can want go where part of the Chennai or else around Tamil nadu. 24/7 availability of train and buses. Tambaram is also best place for education around Chennai, because 3/4th education institutions are around in tambaram and easy to go the places

For the first time I have wisited Chennai, scared about language but ppl overheare very much aware on hindi and english. Auto drivers are bad they doesnt get the address quickly even we show on Google map wantedly they trouble the ppl.

Nice peaceful and unpolluted place but hectic sometimes and maybe display of coach versus platform position needs to be displayed on the platform instead of playing by the ear or relying on a A4 size paper pasted in an undisclosed location on the platform. This can be improved.

Tambaram Railway Station can be considered a centre point of TAMBARAM MUNICIPALITY. The west portion of Tambaram to the Railway station is West Tambaram and east portion to it is East Tambaram.It is the third busiest railway junction after Chennai Central and Chennai Egmore. But in revenue generation it is occupying 2 nd position after Chennai Central. It is a station with 9 platforms and 11 tracks. 1 to 4 cater to sub urban services to Chennai Beach, 5 to 9 cater to Chengalpattu, Tirumalpur and Express services to South.A foot over bridge connects all the platforms. An escalator at East Tambaram side is connecting the foot over bridge. A special platform 1 a is there enabling double discharge to alight and embark on either side of the train compartment. No such facility is there at any stations except Tambaram and Park Station.There are more than 160 to and pro services from Tambaram to Chennai Beach, 70 such services to Chengalpattu and 16 services to Kanchipuram. This station is one of the best railway stations in Chennai city. Here there are 2 entrances, one from Tambaram East and one from Tambaram West where ticket counters, auto rickshaws are available. Railwire WiFi, CCTV, fans, platform shops, toilets and other basic amenities like porter facility, drinking water etc are available. There are totally 9 rail lanes and 8 platforms here. This review is applicable as on March 30, 2019.

Good maintenance.... good station.... because its central government undertaken...the only thing is they do all things reverse... the trains on the first platform go to workshop.....all important trains like pallavan comes on 6th or 7th platform.....also there is short distance to exit from 6th when compared to 1st .......the first 3 or platforms are generally for electric trains only.... its a complexity for regular passengers for to catch electric trains

Station is maintained moderately. Theres only one foot overbridge and walking is too long. Local trains come on platform 2 and 3.Passengers coming from express train can get down here to reach Chennai Airport by taking a local train to Trishulam station.

After Dr Suresh Prabhu took over railway stations became stations where earlier it was like cattle shed. Changing the rating. Improved tremendously. I still feel Indians need to go long way to keep their surroundings clean.

Tambaram is the entrance of chennai who comes from south tamilnadu. Most of the trains depart from Egmore station to Villupuram, Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari passes this station. There is a separate platform available for local electric trains which transit between chennai Beach station to Chengalpattu station . Few local trains goes from Tambaram to beach station in every 5 - 10 minutes. Two wheeler parking available in the campus itself.

Main part of Chennai city... common junction for all to all cities ..have bus and train facilities ..Now gardening is being improved by the govt... we have 3 to 4 bike parking here but no car parking.. tambaram is divided into 2.. one is east and other Is west.. west thambaram is major one and east is also important to travel east side of Chennai...2021 parking cost for two wheeler is 20 for 12 hrs and 30 for 24 hrs.. each 12 hrs cost extra 20 rs...We have PF office here and SETC BUS STOPS here...Have plenty of restaurants here and hotels and schools ...

CGL suburb trains stop at platform#4. Yet the officials change the platform very frequently. So people used to wait on the foot over bridge. So crowd during peak hours.Mobile ticket vending machines are down often.No updated coach position information for express trains.

Clean railway station. It has 8 platforms, of which 5,6,7 and 8 are used for long distance trains. Others are for sub urban trains. Note that escalator is available on platform number 1. Its pretty difficult for children and elderly to switch between platforms. A bit difficult to park.

After scanning the baggages people enters but nowadays temp checking not done.If you want water, soda n biscuits etc better buy it outside n come.In the entrance there is waiting room n rest room for the passengers n it can be used as there is no rest rooms in the platforms. Many banks are having their ATMs in the station pemises(before entering inside for checking. Autos n Taxis are available in plenty.It has two entrances: one in the eastern side n the other in western side.There are 8 platfforms and platform number 1 has two platforms - 1 and 1A.

Tambaram is one most crowded place in the recent years with all the facilities near by Bus and Train completely available for the whole day and the airport is very close by around 5kms. All the notable big shopping and chain stores opened here and near by. Largest IT park MEPZ is located in Tambaram Sanatorium which gives additional strength to Tambaram and sorroundings. Good Residential area too. Thank you

Always take train while going to my home town. East side has parking for free, but west side this charge rs 50. West side got option to leave the station with out using steps. Recently theyve introduced battery car service for elderly and disabled people free of charge. But most of the time either its not working or not available. Phone number for battery car available near the security guard in West side entrance.

No digital display of car positions, passenger should take care of that. Station entry/exit is exactly at the position of engine or last car, so first class passengers especially should consider reaching station atleast half an hour before

Major junction in Chennai. Today when Im in this station, it was raining so heavy. What I feel is the drains were over flooded and started leaking. That should be maintained properly. Water flows through the gap in the roof thatch which can also be improved. Free RailWire is available. There are canteens and newspaper shops. People can use those facilities. The platform is kept neat and tidy
