British construction with their standard maintained throughout the central railway station. Everything is available for the passengers inside and outside the station. If you forget to get food for your journey do not worry, you get what you wish from Biryani to crisps for kids.I travelled to Hyderabad with my family, booked AC2 for 4. Comfortable seats and birth to sleep, kids really enjoyed the long 12 hours journey without much fuss. AC was on for entire journey, train including Toilets were clean and maintained really well by the Southern Railway. Didn’t felt much of the train movement inside the coach. Would recommend to anyone, AC coaches are better options for family in long journey.

Chennai central railway station is now named a Dr.Puratchi thailvar M.G.R central railway station was one of the oldest and biggest railway station in the southern indian railway system. Clean and neat amenity where many buses and auto facilities are available but from my experience auto people are asking for huge amount for the travel during night time for short distances better book for auto or cab online it cost reasonable bus facilities are available after 4 am in the morning till 12 pm

Railway station is good. But the taxi auto drivers and other brokers who will be waiting for a passenger to come there are the biggest fraud and threat there.. Not every one .. but most of them are scammers. And even me and my friends had an issue with the auto driver who just scammed us.. But there is also another auto driver who was very helpful and was genuine.So beware of these kind of peoples on the station.Inside the station it was very neat when i visited. There are many stalls available for food and other things.. the drinking water provided by the railways are worst in taste. even by looking it looks very pale in colour. The police officers inside were very helpful for us.

Ramachandran Central Railway Station. Well maintained. According to my personal experience trains named Sanghamitra Express and Humsafar Express halts for around half an hour here. The bad experience at Chennai central was the Ticket Checker was too rude at the passengers. One of the passenger was not wearing mask and sleeping on his seat. He pulled him near the gate and asked him to pay the fine for not wearing mask.The best word which suits his behaviour is “Rowdy”. He was charging ₹500 just for not wearing masks. Literally he was not at all a professional government worker. He was not even in a proper uniform. Nowadays most of the government officials act like they are only the superior one. They don’t even listen to anyone. I have no issues with the Chennai Railway station because I have been visiting this place since my childhood. One of the best maintained railway stations in India. This is far far better than the New Delhi station which is at our Capital city. Once the Central Square comes up, the place will have more facilities. The only drawback is the crowded parking. There is no proper parking or traffic management inside the compound and because of this during peak hours, people often gets stranded or take a long time to get out of the station. Something needs to be done for managing the movement of vehicles inside the compound.

To keep ur luggage for sometime cloak room available opposite to gate no.6... for to carry heavy luggage u have to book that at luggage office which is opposite to gate no.6 but if u want to send luggage in train u have to book ur parcel at parcel office which is located at last of platform no.1 ...rest rooms available near gate no.5 and gate no.3 .... Less crowded due to Covid restrictions. I have never seen it so clean before. It has very few trains running currently. Main entry is blocked due to Covid restrictions and had to enter in by the side from sub urban train terminus. Trains are also less crowded.

Puratchi Thalaivar MGR Chennai Central Railway station is one of the oldest British era Railway station of India.. it has all basic amenities. Its a central station where trains only terminate and start. But does not pass through. This station is British era station and biggest in South India. If anyone need to go anywhere else. They need to change station at Chennai Egmore. Which is a nearby British era old railway station of chennai. This station is also near to Marina beach and parrys corner. And also 6-7 kms from CMBT bus stand.

Bad. Lot of pick pocketers, robbers there. Police fail to help the public. Main and sub urban stations are fully under the control of robbers. No safety for our belongings. Robbers forcefully take mobile and purses from our bags and pockets. You can see many polices there. But they dont help at all.

Good railway station with all the amenities, food stalls and Book stalls adds additional benefit to the station.Earlier it was Central railway station, now after PM Modis visit it was changed to MGR railway station.Bus Stop in front of the station helps easy to get bus rather than fighting with local auto people.Local trains you can go through the subway and get it by 5 minutes walking.OLA, Uber you have special counter in the right side of the station.So overall less difficult to reach our destination after getting from the station. 🚂

The architectural design was fab. Thats vintage style was its real beauty and that was well maintained now. Lot of construction works are doing outside of the station. The Chennai Central name changed to Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Central railway. I traveled in Chennai mail it was good . But north people dont obey rules and regulations and guidance also they refuse that. But people be aware with your childrens and packages someone abduction yours. If you need help call the police helpline no 100. Dont forget keep clean and use waste bin to drop your wastages .
