I would like to share that My mother Vijiyambal aged 80 years was self slip and fall on 12/10/2020 and diagnosed her left femoral neck fracture. She was initially treated in a traditional Puttur kattu (bandage) bone setting Centre in Andhra Pradesh, India.The first consultation was done with Dr. Arun Kannan Orthopedic Surgeon on 12/12/2020 and he was advised surgery after clinical and radiological evaluations since neck fracture not joined even after traditional puttur kattus and unable to sit and walk.Seeing my mother age factor initially I have not convinced for surgery, but Dr. Arun Kannans the preoperation evaluations and proper justifications I was accepted for performing operation and then Admitted in Apollo hospital Greams road in Chennai, India on 15/12/2020. With informed consent, presurgical fitness and COVID clearance she was taken up for Left hip bipolar hemiarthroplasty surgery on 16/12/2020. Postoperatively X-Ray was taken and was found to be satisfactory. She was mobilized with partial weight bearing precautions from day 1. Postoperative dressing was done on day 2. Her vitals were stable and here neurovascular status was intact. Hence, she was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition 19/12/2020.After discharge she was mobilized in my home by local Physiotherapist for a week and she was walked alone on day 12 (from the operation date) by using C-frame walker without others support. I have consulted Dr. Arun Kannan for first checkup on day 14 of operation, doctor was removed staplers and found wound healthy and neurovascular in tact.I am very much satisfied the way my mother was recovered from this critical fracture within short period and also Dr. Arun Kannan friendly approach and whenever I called him without any hesitation he was clarified all my queries and timely completion of successful operation within given cost budget.As I realized that throughout this process Dr. Arun Kannan is highly competent, friendly approach and always helping doctor. My mother underwent total knee replacement surgery from Dr Arun Kannan in Apollo Hospital Greams Road, Chennai. We had splendid experience with the services of Dr Arun Kanan , he is very professional ,suprisingly humble & down to earth for a doctor of his credentials. Our relationship with Dr Arun surpassed formal Doctor/Patient relationship & waded into friendly territory . Right from day one we were at ease, no unnecessary tests were prescribed by doctor which really helped our budget & everything was transparent & honestly done , The procedure was briefed to us properly with estimated fees, we were always little worried whether final bill will be the same or more as the hospital being Apollo Greams Road , but to our suprise it was a few thousands less than what was quoted. No hastle whatsoever . Dr. Arun Kannan is the best Ortho Docter specifically for knee replacement surgery in India presently.As per my personal experience, I had got my Dads 62 years, bilaterall (both) knee replacement surgery done on 2nd December/2020. He was suffering from knee pain for a very long time and had taken several fluid injections for temporary pain relief. Upon suggestions from various ortho doctors from Guwahati Army Hospital, GNRC, Downtown, Apollo Chennai, AIIMS and many more we finally decided to go for the surgery and on the basis of some personal reliable reference we went to Dr. Arun Kannan for consultation. He was very patient will all our queries and his evaluation was also very clear and suggested us for total Knee replacement at the earliest.The surgery was done on 2 dec and my dad was on b d rest for 1 whole day. He could do minor movements of toes only. But from the 3 day his recovery picked up pace and he started some walking with a walker support. We got discharged on the 5th day and returned back to Guwahati on 10 th after a basic review after discharge.My Dad is now at home and recovering very well, its been 17 days since the surgery, we got the staples removed on the 15th day and the wound is also healing well.Our experience was very relaxing and satisfying as we were very tensed about the surgery. I have done complete ACL Reconstruction and Meniscus shave in my right knee on 09 oct 2019. Dr. Arun kannan(ortho surgeon) have addressed the situation of my knee and treated it properly. He suppported me well and refered a person Thompson who helps me on filling forms and all the procedure for claiming insurance, special thanks to him. Other staffs in Apollo also treated me well.
