One of the worthless food I ever felt with. They cost one mutton biriyani for 300 rupees. But it is absolutely unworthy for the penny we spend. I really expected for a good taste and visited the location by travelling around 70Km. But I was totally disappointed. The cost is very high on the food they are providing. I will never ever recommend any one visiting ecr to have lunch or dinner at this shop. Even the quantity of the food was medium, if the quality was good. I would adjusted on this.
It lost its original taste that I used to enjoy 3 years back. Hotel is taking brand advantage and not being consistent. Price have gone too high which is not okay for the quality and quantity being served. Last visit became a good bye visit now.
Heavenly place for Non Veg Lovers....Awesome South Indian foods available......Sea food to Meet are available....My suggestions instead of going to Buffet you can go this place... Rates are normal... Good food and great taste.... Feedback : Rice to hot while serving and service needs to improved....
Authentic military hotel nonveg dishes. They need to maintain the consistency of food. No big digital branding, or Swiggy or Zomato... Online ordering platform is terrible...
Price and quality of food is exceptional. Felt like home made food. Good for take away. If you are looking for ambience look somewhere else if food is priority this is the place to visit. Go early since most of the side items will be sold out by 12.30.
Lip-smacking biryani in traditional taste....Mutton pieces are tender & juicy... Excellent Service by Mr.Prakash & team...Courteous staff & hygienic restaurant...Keep going strong...
Usual place for Biryani & tiffen items. If you are from kongu belt of TN, you would love this place. Tastes like home. They serve food pretty fast.Everything tastes so good.fresh. hygeine.Love the concept of having kitchen outside. Its a eye treat to see big kadai & preparing so much .Price is slightly on the higher side.Parking & service area - definitely needs an improvement.
Worth it, taste was good. The way they cook, sourcing ingredients, cooking utensils, till they serve it was a decent experience. Dont forget to get the grape 🍇 juice.
We visited plenty of times... one of the best meals we tried here... biriyani tastes so good... ambience was average and prices are bit high comparing with other multi cuisine restaurants.....
Biryani taste was average. Over crowd, try only one time,Biryani was too much oily and taste like tamarind rice. Not worth for the price.Dining was not good, table was not cleaned, owner and other peoples are concentrate only to sell biriyani,Table was full of waste. Atmosphere of the dining room also worst.Dont try regularly, overall average food.
Loved the food. I could see a dip in taste from when I tried it 3 years back. Rasam was really tasty back then.
One of the best biriyanis available in Chennai! The meat in the mutton biriyani was soft and tender and the rice had an excellent flavour. The quantity is more than enough for one person.Prawns Thokku was amazing and so was the mutton chukka. If you want something with less spice, go for the uppu kari chicken, it was amazing. Also ask for the vadachatti soru, it was very good! The staff were friendly and took good care of all the customers. Dont be fooled by the old ambience, the food is exceptional here!
Biryani is good. Mutton சுக்கா was very good. Parotta and kalaki was very good. Over all I felt all the variety of food is good and rate too nominal. Must try place.
Their fish fry is of top notch!!! If you like Karnataka style Biryani then you will like their Biryani much..all sides are tasty..fish curries, chicken curries are good..The dishes are costly but the quality is maintained well..
Day by day the cost has increased and quality of food is come down to zero.Lots of hipe made this a popular place. The taste like earlier is no more. The hotel has become money minded in all aspects which is worthless.
Not sure of it because from friends feedback ,I am.giving this review ,much needed service and taste is fine they said
Food was really good and authentic.A bit costly but thats ok u Can improve ambience and hygiene of the place.
A different taste briyani. Only bad things its very limited need to go earlier. Other than this everything is okay
One of the best seeraga samba briyani ever had in chennai. Good quality with variety of non veg side dishes to choose from. And yes you walk past open kitchen which helps you to choose from the side dish.
Cost not worth the taste - at least not for the biriyani .. almost tasted like ghee rice. Prawn thokku was amazing, though. Its just the price isnt worth it and youre better off at thalappakatti or equivalent.
Taste is very good but quantity is very low. Quantity should increase. Mutton pieces are not enough😊
Taste is ok but the price is expensive...Briyani for 300rs ...its too costly for daily outsider to eat...may be occasionally its ok
Best biriyani, tastes exactly like angannan biryani Coimbatore.
Superb quality charcoal cooked briyani .Mainly chicken uppukari was lit.🔥
Please dont waste your money......Its a cheap hotel with high prices.......better go to royal Coal Barbeque and enjoy all varieties of food with low cost.......
Food taste is superb.. But Im not satisfied with the prices.. Even one plain briyani costed liked chicken or mutton briyani.
Quality Chettinad style briyani in seeraga samba rice with rich flavours must try
Located near the main road in omr , well known for its briyani. It lives to its expectations.Briyani was great , perfect blend of spice and pieces.Vada satti sooru is not that great, since I had it on night, my friend said it wont be that good. The perfect time for trying dhonnai briyani is afternoon.Whatever you do, dont order brain 5/10 because its not that tasty.Famous items,Mutton chukka, mutton briyani 9/10, final touch juice.Vajram fish fry and mutton liver was good would rate 7of 10.Parking is there kinda but its kinda narrowed and road is not perfect.Ambience is not best, but cant complain. There is generalized ac vent is there but no ac, only fan Is switched on.Served in banana leaf, which is great. And dhosa was good too.Taste the dhonnai briyani 😎✌️.
They have wonderful chukka and pepper fry. Awesome taste.
Donnai Biryani house is an excellent destination for Biryani lovers. Mutton Biryani is with correct level of oil, correct level of spice and less masala. The mutton pieces are well cooked and fun to chew. So, after eating Biryani, it does not trouble your digestion. Quantity of Biryani is enough for 1 person. Better not share!! I prefer Jeeraga samba rice biryani over Basmati. Donnai Biryani house makes Biryani using Jeeraga samba.Mutton sukka was awesome and decent quantity. Prawns thokku was good but less pieces and more masala. It will be good if masala is reduced and number of pieces increased.Price is nominal and affordableSuggestion - Biryani packing can be done in Donnai (for parcel and over it Banana leaf to give a good feel). Due to pandemic more people opt for parcel than to dine.
Taste good but price is high Rs 110 for kushka half kg
This place is little interior from the main road. So when you come from the main road take the service road to enter this place. Once you enter the first thing welcomes you is their old style kitchen where can you see charcoal and huge tawas for preparing fish fry, chicken leg fry, prawn fry and huge kadai for frying chicken 65. Along with that owner is the cook who will look like inviting you to enter the restaurant while serving hot biryani in their traditional Dhonnai with which this place was named as Dhonnai biryani. Seating is good which can accommodate nearly 100 pax. Let’s come their food1. The authentic traditional Dhonnai biryani which is really good in taste and aroma is little bit different when compared with other biryanis and the quantity is little bit disappointing for the foodies.2. Chicken 65, chicken leg piece, prawn fry, vanjaram fry, other fish fry is really delicious.3. Parotta and dosa which is server in the evenings are really delicious and mouth watering. Especially coming to Parotta this is the beat Parotta in the entire Chennai which I have tasted which is very soft and tasty which will be accompanied by their thick chicken gravy with good chicken chunks. Also this place is opened for 3AM biryani which is another good thing for the people who are craving for food at the early morning.
Loved the briyani chicken and mutton chukka. Wish if they have menu card
Good place for Briyani.. but cost is little high.. Mutton Briyani is 225 and mutton chukka is 230. All were less in quantity. Ambiance is not good. So, you could order the food and enjoy.. Grape juice was so good. It was bought for 30rs. Very tasty. They will serve in banyan leaves which is good. They will give the foods in thonnai. A live kitchen is there where you can see the food getting prepared.
Good military hotel. Taste of biriyani is good but taste may vary from day to days.Starters are really good but they have reduced the quantity and have become costlier.Service is good and biriyani is available at early morning like 4am.You can also try kari dosai, parotta here.
Very worst hotel, no one asking what we need, directly they start to supply. Here now they are having Biriyani only, no no its name Biriyani but its full of cooked rice with turmeric and its having pieces what we ordered chicken or mutton. And especially side dish many varieties in chicken but all verities are like same in colour and taste, sorry sorry one side dish having many names like,. Pepper chicken, salt curry chicken , chicken thooku, chicken chukka, ect... Special offer side dish rates are in various amounts.... Bloddy dhonna Biriyani
Taste of the food food is good and owner aproch was very good ambience can be improved
Polite staff behaviour, food quality can be improved for the cost involved.
One of the very best #mutton #briyani places in town. Kind of coimbatore style, home made kind of briyani. Perfect balance of spices, meat and rice. Mutton sukka was also on a whole new level. Home made style and very very yummy. Left us craving for more. Items were served in dhonnai and banana leaves. Not the place to go if you expect great ambiance though. Spacious area with a lot of tables and plastic chairs, but no air-conditioning. Place is pretty hygienic and well maintained. They even have the guts to keep an open kitchen. Fish fry that we tried was not good, the fish was old. Very limited menu- that is what they want to do. Perfect dosas as well. Definitely worth the visits.
Heavily disappointing experience !Walked in with high expectations. It was really tough to spot the place. It is located in a narrow lane from the OMR service road. Visiting on a Sunday afternoon I was kinda expecting the menu to be brimming with options which wasnt the case. Most of the dishes werent available already.Had to go in for Chicken Biryani as that was the only available option. Chicken Biryani wasnt good. No Im not just complaining it for being bland. It lacked few other flavours too. Talking about the ambience, just for the reviews sake, it was bad as well. The service wasnt good too, lot of scope to improve in that area also. For the quality and quantity being offered, I feel the dishes were exorbitantly priced.
Best Mutton Biriyani in OMR !!! 🔥One of the best biriyani restaurants in Chennai. The taste and quality of biriyani is simply awesome. The quality and quantity is totally worth for the price. Ambience is okie. Good for groups. The Chicken chukka and the mutton nalli is also very spicy and tastier.Parking for two wheeler is available in front of the restaurant. If u want to try the best biriyani, go for it 🔥
Best mutton biriyani. The quality is never a let down. Go early if you dont want to keep waiting.
Ok type . Dont expect Hyderabadi style biryani here. Here only mutton biryani available.Biryani tastes good. Chicken and mutton side dishes average.
Poor customer service and not a good ambiance.
Prices are very high like a sky.Taste is very average, nothing special. Please dont waste your money.
One of the best restaurant if not the best restaurant.
One of the Best Mutton Biryani in Chennai. The quantity of biryani is not enough if you are really hungry, but they compensate it will complimentary White rice with rasam or butter milk. The biryani is less spicy and the Mutton flavour is fully absorbed in the cheeraga samba rice.
Mind blowing taste. I searched 4 shops which opened in midnight but all closed just temp hotel but this shop is one of the famous hotel for early morning. Rate also Okie only not that much high..
Superb food and service. The setup is not so attractive. But its clean and tasty. Must visit once to know yourself.
I love the taste of mutton Dhonnai Biryani and various side dishes prepared in authentic chettinadu style..
Variety & quantity is super awesome.
Authentic sounth Indian food taste
First time today! Really impressed. Best tastes ever had in Chennai especially the fish gravy, Worth paying.
Best place to taste the real Briyani! I have tried several time since last couple of years, the taste never change. And its value for what you paid with best taste. Except the place. I would recommend to taste at least ones and then you never stop.
The biriyani taste is good & their sides are very good
Awesome mutton Biriyani (seeraga samba) and Prawn thokku. Mutton chukka was good too. As usual, they offered extra rice, chicken gravy, rasam and butter milk(I drank butter milk with the cup they provided water)The pace will be difficult to locate since the store is located in the rear side of a OMR facing building. Their name board can’t be seen easily. But Google Maps gets you to the right location, and you can park your car/bike in service road.Do not expect ambience or air conditioned room. It’s bit pricey for the ambience and quantity you get, but definitely worth trying.Mutton Biriyani - Rs. 220Mutton Chukka - Rs. 220Prawn - Rs. 200
Good place to have tasty donnai biryani. Also fish and mutton dishes also Good. One if my favorite rasam was delicious. . . Dont miss it....
2am biriyani shop in omr... Taste was good...
Taste is good but price is so high 🙃
Good southern authentic taste, but costs bit high
Different style Biriyani.it was good but not hot. They should think about how they can serve biriyani hot. Sides was normal but costly.
One of the finest biriyani in town. Not a fancy place with great ambience, yet the food makes up for all that. Their kitchen is live and open. Cards are accepted.. finding this place is a little difficult as its a little interior from the service road
Best briyani after a long time.
Awesome mutton biriyani. Many of us would fell how this small dhonnai will fullfil our stomach. But trust me it will. We had 2 mutton biriyanis, chicken lollipop, vanjaram fish and small veg meals ( jus sambar n rasam) and the total bill is around 700.
One of the best Madurai style briyani in Chennai city... Felt like back to my village! Vadasatti sooru was amazing... Must try!
Had Mutton Biriyani, Fish And Prawn Thokku.Mutton Biryani : Biriyani served in Dhonnai, almost nil irritants, made on seeraga samba rice. Biriyani was full of flavour, awesome taste. 4 small pieces of mutton, the only let down are the mutton pieces which was little hard to chew. Raitha and Gravy was also served as sides. Both Raitha and Gravy went very well with Biriyani. Biriyani Portion is also very good.Fish Fry : Vanjaram, they told only small piece is available, and I went with it. Served directly from their big tawa hot. Fish was very well made with spices and tasted excellent.Prawn Thokku : This is super tasty, Prawn are very well cooked, the Thokku was too good and I had it alone after completing biriyani.Best thing I noticed here is, food was served in Banana Leaf, Water served in Stainless steel glass and there is no plastic anywhere. Even for parcel they mentioned that customer to bring their own vessels to get the food which is very rare now a days to see in any restaurant. Really appreciate their efforts towards environment in avoiding plastics.Service was quite attentive.Paid 460 Overall.Mutton Biryani : 180Prawn Thokku : 180Fish Fry : 90 (Price varies based on the fish size)Overall very good experience and will surely go back again.
Had a yummy briyani with a little variety of dishes.Mutton chukka is spicy and tasted good. Fish items can be improved in taste. Prices are little higher for the side dish items that were served.Ambience should be improved to attract larger family audience.
Live kitchen method. Good to dine here. Food was delicious. Must taste one time.
Its not up to the mark. Price is too high. Quantity is less. Service is not good. Dont buried your mid night carving here..
Great experience.. met the owner of the place.. nice guy.. all food products are procured at the highest quality.. excellent taste and a lot of variety
Yummy foooood !!!!You are what what you eat eats.
Super taste and good customer care.
Authentic cuisine, foody must try this
